Cold Case: Claude Shelton and wife Sue Shelton Missing
Detectives are asking for your help in a missing persons case from 1971.
Last Seen May 21, 1971, in Corbin, KY

On May 21, 1971, Claude Shelton and his wife, Sue Shelton, left their residence at Gerry’s trailer park on 18th street in Corbin, and never returned.

They left their residence, after putting their three kids to bed, apparently en route to King’s truck stop five miles away. This is according to their daughter, Sherri, who overheard them talking after going to bed.

The Shelton’s presumably left in their vehicle, a white 1967 Ford Galaxie 500. None of the employees at King’s remember seeing them. A witness stated that they had been saving money and had approx. $600.00. The daughter said they kept money in a bowl in the kitchen but it was never found.

Mr. Shelton had been steadily employed for 10 years and, according to witnesses, both he and his wife were fond of their children and it is unlikely that they would leave them.

This is a terrible picture, but if someone could lighten it up a little, atleast we'd have one picture of them.

Is there any info anywhere on the age, dob, etc on this couple...How old were the children they left behind??

This is the only article on Newspaper Archive that I could find about the Shelton's. I didn't find any further information about them, but I'm searching online to try to find more. :)

The article states that Sue was 33 and Claude was 37, but info about the kid's ages except is says they were "small" so I'm guessing not over the age of 7 or 8.

This is the only other link that I could find regarding Claude and Sue, but it's really just a repeat of the KY State Police article on their website. I have no idea who this reddragon person is that wants to be contacted with info about them, but I thought it would be worth posting.

I looked at that site and someone had responded to reddragon 01/07 asking for the same info...dates of birth...when married etc...looks like there was no response. I looked on Zabasearch...not many Claude Shelton...but wasn't sure about the age also found quite a few Sue Sheltons...was trying to find a Claude and Sue that resided in the same city. Also found a few Claudes and Sue Sheltons on Social Securitiy death index..but again a date of birth would be helpful..I guess I could look for dates of birth in mid 1940's to late 1940's as year of births.

By the ages listed in the article, birth year may be 34 for Claude and 38 for Sue.

You know, I say that nobody will ever get not posted on Charley because of a poor quality photo, but I'm going to have to make an exception in that case. The NewspaperArchive photo is so bad you can't even tell that those people are even human beings.
