Don't know where you read that, but they were blowing hot air out of their... well you know what..
The Ocean phase is a prime component to the game. You can't go from primordial ooze to land, it just doesn't happen.
and you're right Coffee, but you have to realize that in order to play at those conventions you are bound by and sometimes even have to sign an EULA to ensure you don't release information the development team doesn't want you too.. When i read it, I got the feeling the guy was itching to say a lot more than he did, but couldn't because of the EULA restrictions.

I partly aggree with keys, but I believe "tide pool" phase refers to both cell and water creature phase. They are one and the same. Your cell creature just keeps getting bigger and bigger until you are the size of a water creature and you can go onland.

I'm glad they're keeping the water phase, though! (even though that is from '07)
