So...we're pretty much completely inactive.

And I understand that - we can blame EA for continuing to push the game back with little to no news. Which does not help us.

So, we're going to need SOME news or else this forum is just going to be completely dead (although we've survived through news droughts before).

Any suggestions? I want to keep this site active so that we have a place to go when Spore is released.

Scratch that. I was having login problems before and it wasn't showing anyone posting anything new. So...weird. I see that we still have people talking which is good.

But...any ideas on how to get people more involved here?

Advertise.

Here's the problem...what does one advertise when we have NOTHING to offer at this moment - there is NO news...until we get some, I can't advertise too much. Nobody would be interested and they'd think our forum was dead.

Thats because it is dead.

I know this won't get more members but this might help get the members posting again. Send out mass emails with a date and a time telling everyone to go on at that date and time and post as much as they can. Then the forums will look active enough for us to advertise.

or just change the look to a bit more jumpy and welcoming (something like that.....)

eg: add more colors or something

Don't make it more colorful. Colors would ruin the look of the site.

Honesly, this is a hard one.
another site i moderate for is having the same problems. News is dry and so the community dwindles a little. The forums are pretty dry and only a few members are active. Happens to every forum now and then.. but getting and keeping new and old members can be a challenge... all we can hope to try and do is post interesting stuff and get members to post about them and in them for the sake of keeping active and "communication". This... is a very hard thing to do... and so thus... thats where this suggestion ends.. as ive never been quite successful in doing such..

i dot see that there is anything we can do right now . I mean out most loyal members are active so ....

We could spam a site with links to this site. Its works if you know witch sites to spam it with. Mainly sites dedicated to graphics actually join sometimes.

I refuse to spam websites. Simply put, it's tacky and makes our site look terrible.

Any member caught spamming a site with our links (therefore ruining our reputation of being a decent forum) will be suspended. End of story.

Yes, it's good that many of us are still active...but we need more activity. So, if anyone has any ideas. I know we're not going to be active during a dry spell of news, but when new news pours in, we need to net as many incoming members as possible. Place like Snooty Spore grab many of them (though we proudly have more than twice as many posts as they do).

How about we do with what we got , and when were all gone just fizzle into our end, then in 10 years you send a mass email going all like were gona have a reunion and then that will last 6 months before dieing again, then when were all old and wrinkly we visit the site again and remember how cool forum was.

come on ace . You did it to the S2T Heretic site .you know the one i mean right? that ALL of the true S2T members spammed all to hell. Given we wanted it shut down but it did acheive its goal.

You know, that I wouldnt do this, but I could get my spamming army to spam all the competing spore sites to the point were they get shut down.

and they'll just be recreated. When the launch date grows closer we'll get more members... and when the game is released.. we'll get even more..

how about try make the game and the site more popular....

like email random ppl an add for the game and a link to the forums or something...

I would advertize it on my site, but all of my best freinds are on there, and if they saw the bad things in suggestion forums...why don't you delete those?

yeah, when the game comes out, there will probably be a lot more posting...for some reason i'm losing intrest in the game, though. Perhaps because of all of the delays...

He's a guy who was apart of these forums (actually the post above your first post in this thread here.) Who was known for being very active here. Travi thought you might have been him, but alas you're not and another human being :P
It's a bit hard for some of us to believe there's actually a new member. Since Spore has gone a bit stale in the eyes of its fans, new memberships and even old ones have started to dwindle.

Yes, sadly with no new memberships and no information, we've essentially dried up.

I do have hope, however, that we'll find new life once they actually release something newsworthy.

Let's hope so.. they havent done much for the year of 2008.. I'm hoping we'll get a release date.
