Title: Favorite Game?

Immy - April 9, 2005 08:46 AM (GMT)
What is your very favorite game?

Mine is the Baldur's Gate series.

Rein_Spark - April 9, 2005 02:32 PM (GMT)
Mario....anything Mario.....

What exactly is the "Baldur's Gate" series? What is the game like?

Ace - April 9, 2005 07:12 PM (GMT)
Hmmm...currently: The Sims 2. But once Spore comes out, I'd say I'll have a pretty close-to tie. Other than that...The Sims Online. I only play sim games on the computer.

I do play on my PSP (Playstation Portable) a racing game that is very addictive (Wipeout Pure) and a Hack-'n'-Slash RPG (Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade) and they are great also.

It is two games, Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2. They are roleplaying D&D games. Um... I'm bad at explaining. lol

CoffeeFreak4Life - April 10, 2005 03:30 AM (GMT)
Bulders gate started out as an AD&D 2nd Edition Fogotten Realms senario that TSR aparently decided to turn into a computer game. elving into the depths of Advanced Dungons & Dragons 2nd edition in all its detail would take too long so I'll break it down for you. You create your character by picking sex ,class, alignment, looks, proficencies (what weapons you are above avrage with) and then you go on your merry way (in the Computer game anyway). Then your character does chores for people around Candlekeep(your home at the time) gaining money most of the time, on top of the money you have already which is pretty much pre-determined by your class and a die roll. Then buy your equipment that you can use dictated by your class .then you set out on an aventure where your trying to figure out why people are tring to kill you. So alot is determined by your class. its an incredibly fun game and i would recomend trying it regardless of its age at this point.

As far as my favorate game goes its Moon patrol hands down.

Ace - April 10, 2005 05:38 AM (GMT)
Sounds a bit like the PSP game I'm playing right now. It's called Untold Legends: Brotherhood of the Blade. You pick class, looks, and such, then you do chores for people and find out why the city of Aven is being attacked.

CoffeeFreak4Life - April 10, 2005 05:46 AM (GMT)
its probably similar in some respects. whos the maker?

Ace - April 10, 2005 05:48 AM (GMT)
From what I see Sony Online Entertainment. Maybe they had a company make it and then branded under Sony.

CoffeeFreak4Life - April 10, 2005 06:28 AM (GMT)
after looking at some footage and reading a small bit of it i can say its probably very diffrent in sevral ways. you actualy have a party of 5 that you can mix and match as you meet them along the way in BG where as in Untold Legends its more of a me against the world. The platform is diffrent. Damage assesment is probably very diffrent since you can miss in bulders gate and damage is assesed by a die roll of either D4, D10,or, D8 depending on your weapon in which there is a decent variety . your party splits experience of the creature depending on what each did to kill it .I'm sure the world size is also diffrent. its basicly the same type of game and goal in the end tho

Ace - April 10, 2005 06:31 AM (GMT)
Hmm...interesting...well, at first glance they seem similar. Though this thing isn't really a D&D game...

CoffeeFreak4Life - April 10, 2005 06:35 AM (GMT)
thats true BG is still an exelent game and i recomend it.Who knows you might like it more than the one your playing.

Mr. Moustache - April 10, 2005 09:33 AM (GMT)
Half-life two is my favourite at the moment. It could change any day now though :P

Rein_Spark - April 10, 2005 02:42 PM (GMT)
Ahh thanks Coffeefreak. That game sounds like alot of fun....I'll for sure have to look into it!

Mr. Moustache - April 10, 2005 04:17 PM (GMT)

Close, Baldur's Gate ;)

CoffeeFreak4Life - April 10, 2005 05:14 PM (GMT)
if you do end up getting it i sugget the paladin class to start with they have the ability to heal by touch so youll live a little longer. and make sure you have 18 Charisma above avrage strength and a good constitution .

Mr. Moustache - April 10, 2005 05:47 PM (GMT)
ok but I might not even get the game

Ace - April 10, 2005 10:29 PM (GMT)
Sounds fun. I probably won't get it (I'm already wrapped up in the games I have), but if I ever do, I'll look for that class and such.

Nick402 - April 10, 2005 11:54 PM (GMT)
It's between Baldur's Gate and The Sims 2.

Ace - April 11, 2005 03:54 AM (GMT)
Lots of people play Baldur's Gate. I wonder why I have never seen this game for sale anywhere. It seems everyone here thinks it's interesting or has played it and loved it.

CoffeeFreak4Life - April 11, 2005 04:13 AM (GMT)

your not alone ace i've never played it either, i tend to go for RPG's like final fantasy and wild arms, i also like the god games like pharaoh, black and white, and of course my beloved sims :D

Ace - April 11, 2005 08:58 PM (GMT)
Hmm...I've never understood Final Fantasy. Perhaps if I played it, I would like it, but if it's what my brother says (tell them HOW to fight and then they do it), I'm not so sure I'd be interested. Any insight, DD? Or anyone else?

I've never herd of the game either

This game is starting to sound like "Lords of magic" which was a very good game too...

Ace - April 11, 2005 09:33 PM (GMT)
Never heard of Lord Of Magic either...

Dirty Dawg - April 11, 2005 09:39 PM (GMT)
its an adventure / RPG / sci - fi / beat em up. the fights are turn based yes, but theres so much to do in them, you take it in turns so an enemy will strike then the player will strike and so on. you can use special attacks, magic, items and more to defeat your enemy.
when your not fighting your traveling the world doing different things, depending on which FF your playing. i have them all apart from 1, 2 and 3 which have never been released in britian and they just get better and better.

here's a few piccie's of my favourite characters and the battle screen.

Cloud and Tifa from Final Fantasy 7, this is the first in the series i played and got hooked on it then.

irvine from Final Fantasy 8, probally my favourite of all of them, the graphics in this were phenominal for their time and the story was wicked.

vivi from Final Fantasy 9, this poor little guy lacked in confidence, this has to be my least favourite of the lot

this is Lulu from Final Fantasy 10, she's a black mage with attitude, and basically she just rocks.

Wakka again from Final Fantasy 10 he's a blitzball captain, and also a pretty good fighter, he was also a guardian for Yuna

and Rikku this girl was cool, an Al-Bhed and a mean fighter

here's a battle sequence from FF10

think i got a bit excited talking about it, enjoy the pictures anyway

Nope, not a chance unless you go to a used game store. It's from 1996 I think for the first and 1998 for the second not being sure for that either...lol. They're from the mid and late 1990's is all I know for sure.

CoffeeFreak4Life - April 11, 2005 09:51 PM (GMT)
that vivi character looks alot like Orko from the origonal He-Man series

Ace - April 11, 2005 10:20 PM (GMT)
Wasn't Lulu on one of your avatars, DD?

The game looks like pretty fun. Maybe I'll check it out. Any recamendations for which one? Usually I would get the most recent game out, but some other kids in my grade are FF fanatics and I heard them say one of them wasn't so great...not sure which one...

Dirty Dawg - April 11, 2005 10:34 PM (GMT)
if your looking at getting one i recomend this site, it gives you details about each game, personally i'd go for ff10 but then you'd have to get ff10-2 as well because its the sequal.
i always loved ff8 but not alot of people seemed to like it.
check out the site and see what you think ace

Okay, thanks DD. :D

FF8 gets bad rep from all the kids who've played it at my school. I want to get the most recent and best (at the same time), but I may have to wait (I've been obsessive about my PSP recently and they HAPPEN to be coming out with a FF7 sort of game...I'll have to look into it).

Mr. Moustache - April 17, 2005 01:19 PM (GMT)
My new favourite is Midnight club 3 I just played it its great

Sith_Master - April 22, 2005 09:25 PM (GMT)
my fav game is EE 2

CoffeeFreak4Life - April 22, 2005 09:27 PM (GMT)
EE 2? is that Empire Earth or somthin?

Sith_Master - April 23, 2005 12:40 PM (GMT)
yes, thats Empire Earth 2

CoffeeFreak4Life - April 23, 2005 04:22 PM (GMT)
Ah ok never played EE2 . Played the first one tho. what's the major diffrences

Sith_Master - April 23, 2005 04:56 PM (GMT)
therse weather and outposts can now give you a weather forcast (dont see that alot in games) and spies are avaible and pentogan and theres actually borders and states. WAY better graphics, now there are unique units (like new tanks or something not normal) seasons chang, theres a little bar that will be filled up if you are done with one month. advanceing to next age is a tiny bit faster and you can (i think) go beyond the space age. (u can go up to the space age in EE1 Art of Conquest) ppl can overthrow a goverment like if your monarch, they can change autamatic to republic. adn there are three leaders. Economic, Imperial, and my favorite, Milatary crown. u need to earn a crown, and with the crown you can chooses a special power. like with imperial you can choose Immagrints (spelling) and 5 villagers will appaer at your capital. More resources like salt saltpeter. you start out (if deathmatch) 200,000 resources. You can give cities and territory and even some units to other ppl. there is a citezen manager whitch will be easier for you to assign villagers to jobs. it will tell how many idle citezens you have. there are also warplans. its a plan, like where your gonna go and your ally is gonna go in the south, and your gonna go in from the east. i think i hit the main points.

as you can see, theres alot more than EE1 and EE1 Art of Conquest. if you dont have art of conquest, i suggest you get it cause that will have space age and digital and nano. o yea, and theres no cheats for EE2 but there is cheats for EE1

Ace - April 24, 2005 05:16 AM (GMT)
This seems to have...similarties, persay, to Spore.

CoffeeFreak4Life - April 24, 2005 07:08 PM (GMT)
Empire Earth? Doubtful ,EE is more like Age of Empires type game and I'm doubting Spore will have the intenseness of that but who knows.

Sith_Master - May 9, 2005 10:37 PM (GMT)
true true. but EE2 isnt like Age of Empires
