Title: The hardcore Christian's reaction to Spore
Description: Eeeek!

Strabo - July 29, 2006 01:33 AM (GMT)
How do you think all those crazy hardcore christians will react? Do you think that Kansas will try to ban Spore? I predict that there will be a lot of "outrage" and "don't teach kids the evolution theory" blabber going on, with a dose of "lynch Will Wright" and "boycott that game!"

Of course, publicity will probably be good for Spore, make people want to know why those crazy christians are so mad.

Masko - July 29, 2006 03:52 AM (GMT)
Yeah i know they will try to ruin everyones fun and crap like that they always do >.> harcore ones atleast im not very religious is that eeven spelled right lol but i bet they will

Harddcore Chistions reaction would probley be something like this
btw this is what i know from ones on the internet

OMGOSH WTFRICK WHY THE HECK WOULD PEOPLE MAKE A GAME ABOUT EVOLUTION I THOUGHT EVERYONE KNEW WE WHERE ALWAYS RIGHT I MEAN COME ON....................and im gonna stop there before i offend anyone to bad

Strabo - July 29, 2006 04:00 AM (GMT)
I've definitely offended someone. When it comes to creationism/evolution, the emotional part of the brain takes over, disregarding all logic. This is how intelligent design was created! Flying Spaghetti Monster FTW!! (Wiki it if you don't understand :))

I am kinda christian. More of an atheist. I don't go to church (waste of time), and I laugh whenever someone proselytizes to me. It's so funny to challenge someone's views and watch them swell up and get all angry. It tickles a warm fuzzy part of me.

I wonder what Jack Thompson's response to Spore will be. If you don't know about him, just google him. He said that the guy from the Wash D.C. sniper attacks trained by playing Halo. ROFLMAO :P :P :P :P :P

Masko - July 29, 2006 04:05 AM (GMT)
Lol same here although im catholic cant spell it but ya when people get mad at me it makes me laff

ROFL look at the advertisements by google there showing up as stuff about religion and god thats funny lol

Strabo - July 29, 2006 04:13 AM (GMT)
As for spelling. . . get the google toolbar. Free SpellCheck!! W00T!

We should start a 3rd political party.

We want:

Less Taxes
More Science
Less Censorship

We have no opinion whatsoever on:

Abortion
(Insert hot-button topic here)

I wonder why it hasn't happened yet. Democrats and Republicans are just plain retarded. Dems: WHY WOULD YOU WANT MORE TAXES?!? Repubs: WHY ARE YOU SO DARNED CHRISTIAN?!?

Strabo - July 29, 2006 04:29 AM (GMT)

Masko - July 29, 2006 04:33 AM (GMT)
sorry but im a country bum compter nerd im kinda out of touch with the world

Strabo - July 29, 2006 04:37 AM (GMT)
Monty Python was first started in the 60's, and it still entertains today. (I'm in the process of renting the 15 disc collection, ripping it to my computer, and putting it on my PSP. *Hallelujah chorus*)

I think I'll tape Fox's reaction to Spore for later enjoyment, along with anyone who demonizes Spore and it's players.

Masko - July 29, 2006 04:38 AM (GMT)
lol send me a copy id love to see it :D

Strabo - July 29, 2006 04:40 AM (GMT)
Sure, it'd be excellent entertainment for all of us here at Spore Forums. (Not the Monty Python stuff, the Fox news stuff).

I am visualizing some large, sweaty priest suffer from a stroke while he yells about satanism, pagan worship, and their relations to Spore.

Masko - July 29, 2006 04:45 AM (GMT)

Nope. The FSM is hilarious. Satirical response to the not-so "intelligent design" concept taught in Kansas.

I've actually heard quite the opposite. Will said it actually supports Intelligent Design because you create the creature...

That was in an MTV E3 interview with four different game designers and the guy who made Gods of War was a athiest and asked him somewhat of the same question. That's how Will responded.

Wrigley's Extra - July 31, 2006 07:31 PM (GMT)
I'm christian, hardcore even :P and i don't rele care i beleive in evolution and creationism at the same time i just hope nobody makes a big deal out of it because it's just a video game :) people seriously need to learn to lightin' up.

Then to those diehard christians out there, you aren't a true christian.

To today's society religion is becomming more of a joke than anything else. Its been changed and reworded time and time again through translations and kings/lords trying to benefit or justify wars under the name of god.

Each person has his or her own description of the religion and no doubt some people will be upset about it.

However, i think of it in a short easy way. Get over it.
So what if it goes against your teachings and your devotion to a superior being! Get over it. No one is forcing you to play it!

Simple. Easy.

and whats with Kansas outlawing the game? Everyone in kansas isn't strictly christian and uptight about it. I've hardly met anyone like that when i stay with relatives now and then in Kansas.

dorkfire - August 3, 2006 01:24 PM (GMT)
Yeah i doupt there will be a huge uprise but hardcores will scoff at us for playing G-d, and think WE are the crazy meglomaniacs!
(Oh, BTW i am a on and off Jew (more off than on these days))

Keys - August 7, 2006 04:15 PM (GMT)
i was born a christian.. but over the coarse of my lifetime i've fallen shy of devoting myself to religion for reasons i will not get into (to prevent a holy war breaking ou on these forums) but i do believe people take things too seriously as a whole.

Human beings are fearfull and dangerous when it comes to the unknown. When we do not understand something we instantly attack it out of fear that it will attack us. Don't believe me? Why do you think we kill House spiders? They are harmless to us, they are actually beneficiary to us as they catch other annoying insects and help keep your house cleaner. They only eat insects and do not prey on humans. Yet 70% of people will not hesitate to drive a blunt object into the spider for fear it could be 'poisonous' or 'vicious' , we've sculpted rumors after rumors about them and it has furthar fueled the disposition against Spiders. Its the same thing with all else.

and religion nowa days is "My way or the highway" or rather "my way or hell" as its come to stand, part of the reason i departed from religion.

I really don't think the religious fanatics will speak up all that much. You'll get one or two who will get overly upset and speak up about it... but for the vast majority people will behold the game.

We are entering a new generation run by electronics, MMORPGs, FPS, RTS, and virtual worlds created by our imaginations. We've come more to accept games no matter their base, we understand games and have gotten used to them. Within 10-20 years the number of people screaming about a game will disapear almost entirely. I guarantee it.

SporeFox - August 7, 2006 08:59 PM (GMT)
actually if any state would outlaw that game...wait...whay would any state outlaw a game just because, like, 1/4 of their population is a bunch of hardcore christians?

Strabo - August 9, 2006 03:37 AM (GMT)
I'm willing to bet money that Jack Thompson is mad about Spore. In an interview, (from Wikitruth.info) he said, and I quote:

"Thompson has admitted that he has never played a video game before, and does not plan to, saying 'They are a sin against God and I have no intention of being a sinner'".

Source

Here's his problem with Halo:

In the Washington Sniper case, Thompson was the first to suggest that video games may have been the source of the sniper's skills, although police never made any link between the two. Dateline NBC reported that Malvo "trained" extensively on the Xbox game Halo. He also stated that there was an option within the game entitled "God mode" or "Sniper mode" (although there is a sniper rifle available, Halo does not have a "God mode" like most other first person shooters). From that report, Thompson argued that "the games both broke down his inhibition to kill and gave him incredible shooting skills" and he believes that "Microsoft should be sued and held liable for money damages by the victims of the Beltway Snipers." Thompson's critics point out that John Allen Muhammad was a former soldier with significant rifle training, as predicted by the police, and that Lee Boyd Malvo's shooting skills could have easily been the result of instruction by Muhammad.

Jeeze. He is crazy.

Wasn't it Kansas that did the intelligent design vs. evolution thing? I'm pretty sure that it was.

he IS crazy!!!

Strabo - August 10, 2006 12:33 AM (GMT)
You should read what he said about Sims 2. He said that the blurry stuff around private areas could be removed by pedophiles and other weird peoples, but when they took out the blurs, nothing was there.

I like that the Florida Bar Association had him take a sanity test. I can't believe he passed it.

Jack Thompson Toilet paper

He is crazy. He's on a lone cruisade to abollish video games. He does it just for attention in the media world i think. He calls alot of blind threats and they never happen. People have made fun of him time and time again and even video game companies such as Rockstar have sent him flowers with gag-gift intentions from insults he's made about them. He's full of hot air and he's the only man on this planet against video games it seems. Hillary is too.. but she's a woman.. and there are many women against video games that i've noticed.

and it wouldn't bother me if they banned a game from a state. all they're doing is banning it from being sold in stores in THAT state.

Anyone say Ebay? or ebgames.com or any other game site?

Strabo - August 13, 2006 04:53 AM (GMT)
Man that toilet paper is awesome. Thank you, Jinx!

Good point Keys. I think that it'd be funny if a videogame could be considered as being as bad as crack, though. Imagine police breaking into your house and taking your computer because you bought a GTA game.

Keys - August 13, 2006 08:04 AM (GMT)
I'd move to Canada.

Strabo - August 14, 2006 05:41 PM (GMT)
Agreed. Or take a bunch of lessons in Japanese, and move to Japan. I hear that there is a Tokyo Game Show that's pretty big overseas.

SporeFox - August 14, 2006 08:09 PM (GMT)
i go to germany, at least for a few months...their having a hands-on thing with spore over there...

Keys - August 15, 2006 11:36 PM (GMT)
Yeah but in Germany they have Game laws just as we fear having here.

If they don't like a game. Poloticians and the government will not hesitate from banning the game to be sold in stores.

otherwise i would have said i'd move there.. considering i know German.

Oh and i think we should give Jack this video Grand Theft Auto Coke Commercial

Who says GTA caused people to kill? This video shows otherwise!

PhiniusMaster - August 19, 2006 03:19 PM (GMT)

Strabo - August 21, 2006 08:15 AM (GMT)
I have no information on German laws, so I should not be forming an opinion on them.

(I had a whole post written tearing into Germany before I realized that I had no idea what I was talking about :))

Keys - August 22, 2006 01:08 AM (GMT)
lol well with alot of my friends being german online, i've unknowingly been filled in on all the good stuff from there lol.

dorkfire - August 23, 2006 07:34 PM (GMT)
