Title: I'll build you a house,
Description: made by aspiring architect, Strabo
Strabo - July 26, 2006 01:48 AM (GMT)
If you tell me how large of a lot, how many stories, and size of the family, I'll build you a house. Creating the designs on graph paper.
If you want it to be a specific style (Modern, Tudor, Pueblo, etc.) just tell me, and I'll do my best.
I'll upload the images onto this topic for anyone to use.

Oooh, this is cool, I'd love to request a house!
Lot size: Errm, I'm not very particular, but one of the smaller ones
Stories: Two
Size of the family: 2 adults and 2 (possibly 3) kids
Style: Kind of traditional looking, yet stylish
Thanks! :D
Strabo - July 29, 2006 01:10 AM (GMT)

There ya go. My homes are designed to be open with as few walls as possible.
SporeFox - July 31, 2006 05:46 PM (GMT)
um... luigi's mansion!!!! j/k :P
Keys - July 31, 2006 09:45 PM (GMT)
I'll take a home. Now and then i'll play sims.. so lets see.. (if you're up to designing the plans)
Lot size - Enough to fit a decent sized family (so medium-ish)
Stories - Two prefered
Family size - Two fresh outa college with kids possibly on the way sooner (two most likely)
Style - Homey... uhm.. like before, traditional... cozy.. warm and dark? Not evil dark.. just.. cool..dark..

Actually, I have a house on hand that might work. It's kinda exotic though. First floor is two seperate buildings, and the second and third floors are joined together by a "skybridge." !!!WARNING: HAS NOT BEEN PLAYTESTED!!! I DO NOT KNOW IF THE SIMS INTELLIGENTLY USE THE HOUSE!!!

Ignore the temple of solomon stuff. That was just a HIGHLY experimental house, didn't work. (It was supposed to be a giant tower :))

I'd like one. I'm about to redesign my Legacy house and I've been drawing sketches, but it hasn't been working out well.
5x5 lot
Two stories
Ranging from 5-8 sims (grandparents, parents, and then any children)
I'd like a sort of farmhouse-styled one with a covered-porch and such
With the rooms: if you could, I would like to have these rooms: grandparents bedroom, master bedroom, children(s) room(s), nursery, office, crafting room, skills room, living room, plenty of bathrooms, detached garage, detached tomb (like a room to put urns).
Hope that isn't too much! If you can't squeeze it all in, I can certainly do so in the building process...
Strabo - August 5, 2006 06:29 AM (GMT)
Sorry I'm taking a while I to do your house. Also, how large do you want the detached garage? The size of a bathroom? Living Room?
Big design. . . :)
Ace - August 8, 2006 04:25 AM (GMT)
Yeah...big design...my Legacies always are packed households...so oftentimes I'm having eight sims with limited space.
I want a spacious bathroom. Probably one large one and then a few smaller ones. The living room can be medium sized...just as long as it's not TEENY, it will probably function.
Thanks. :D
Ace - August 8, 2006 11:39 PM (GMT)
I forgot to add that the detached garage doesn't have to be huge, but certainly large enough for AT LEAST one car and a little room where other things can be.
Strabo - August 9, 2006 03:23 AM (GMT)
car? I'm pretty sure that you can't buy a car in sims 2, but ok. . . so the garage is basically a storage area? Like maybe 10x10 squares for the car area, then a little room on the back?
God, I wish that my Sims 2 was working so that i could playtest my houses. >_<

Wait...what are you talking about? There are cars in the game...Nightlife incorporated them into the game. You didn't get that EP? It's right on the back of the box.
Strabo - August 10, 2006 12:39 AM (GMT)
Wow. Apparently I fell behind. . . I don't buy the expansions. I think that they're a waste of my hard-earned money. Ummm. . . how big are cars? I only had the basic sims 2, so if there is anything else i should know about, please tell me.
Do you want a pool?
Keys - August 10, 2006 04:32 AM (GMT)
Ooo.. i do like the second home you sketched.. its a neat layout in my view.. oddly enough it seems... star-warsy.. having played Galaxies it looks something similar to the Corellian Houses..
Excellent! Thank'ya!!
I'm gonna build it if i can find the time, i'll post up screenshots.

Yeah...they released cars in Nightlife...it was one of the main selling points and they even awarded a special car for those who preordered.
A car is about 3 tiles wide and maybe six long or something like that. I don't know the exacts.
A pool doesn't need to exist, but I suppose it could be cool.

Thanks. I'd look to know if it worked, and how it looks in-game.
Hey Ace- How about you make the garage, since I don't have Nightlife and I haven't played it, so I don't know what I should design.

I finished the first draft, final version is going to be up in a day or so.
I divided the house into two sections-one for living and eating, one for fun, games, skills, crafting, etc. I hope that that doesn't create any problems. It's a fun house to design. I'm giving you plenty of space for you to populate with whatever. There are 4 single-kid rooms (just a 5x3 space), and 3 master bedrooms (2 of them are 6x5, I believe, and one is 6x6). All these numbers are out of my head, since I don't have the graph paper on me. There are two bathrooms upstairs (with the kids) that are roughly 5x3 each, and the bathroom downstairs is 4x6. The house is built on a foundation, and I am adding in a deck out back for various activities (hot tubbin', dining tables, etc.
How much space do you want for your office/crafts/skills area? Right now it's about half the size of the house. Of course, I could kill two birds with one stone by making the house 3 stories. . . oh well :)
Ace - August 21, 2006 08:29 PM (GMT)
That sounds amazing, Strabo!
The idea of splitting the house is organized it seems and it won't cause any problems that I see...I see it more of a plus. :)
Half the house sounds fine. I wouldn't say more than that. If it needs to be trimmed down, feel free to do so, or if it works as it is, that's fine. But half the space seems like plenty. ;)
Eh...a third story wouldn't be such a bad thing if it weren't for all the sims I have. I normally don't like even having two stories because it can cause problems with trying to find sims, but since the design I wanted called for it, I was willing to allow myself the priveledge of having two stories. :P
Strabo - August 24, 2006 09:41 PM (GMT)
UPDATE: The house is almost done, and I will upload it later tonight. It's a pretty cool build :)
Ace - August 24, 2006 10:26 PM (GMT)
Cool, Strabo. I'm sure you have something wonderful up your sleeve.
Strabo - August 25, 2006 01:57 PM (GMT)
Here ya go:
I forgot how to rotate pictures, so sorry about the angle.

Man, that stupid scanner didn't show the graph paper lines. . .
Customize the open areas to your needs.
I have to go camping now, see ya all on monday :)
EDIT: You may be able to get rid of the sharp edges by building walls to round them off, but it's hard to do on a foundation.
Ace - August 25, 2006 03:47 PM (GMT)
Thank you very much, Strabo! It looks awesome! I can't wait to get this into my game! :D
Ace - October 31, 2006 02:22 AM (GMT)
Just as a notifier - just a few days ago, I finished the house you drew for me. It's gorgeous. I had to wait for my game to work...of course, right after that, my bro screwed up the computer, so we now have the BSOD (I'm on another computer).
I hope to get my sims back and post some picks. It's a very lovely place thanks to you, Strabo. :D
Keys - October 31, 2006 06:02 AM (GMT)
That reminds me, i need to build the Spanish mission house you made for me. I've been meaning to. Thanks for reminding me to do that ace! Thank you again for the design too Strabo.

I was wondering-
Without furniture, how much did my house cost?
Don't worry about it-I was just curious if you knew of the top of your head.
I'm guessing around $57,567.

That was part of the idea :D
It's too bad that you can't make glass houses in the sims 2, because that would probably be a good candidate for one. . . as long as the bed and bath rooms had walls, ceilings, and floors :)
Oh, and CoffeeFreak, I will probably have a design up by friday. . .
one question, though. Do garages have to be next to the sidewalk for the cars, or do you make a driveway?
CoffeeFreak4Life - November 20, 2006 08:56 PM (GMT)
The door itself doesent but the driveway needs to make contact with the street.
