Wardog 117 - October 15, 2006 02:52 AM (GMT)
Intercontinental Cup to be held at World Cup
For the first time ever the top four NXL teams will compete against the top four CPL European teams.

The UPBF, Paintball Sports Promotions and the Millennium are proud to announce the Intercontinental Cup to be held November 7th at Disney’s Wide World of Sports® Complex at the PSP 2006 World Cup.

TEAMS QUALIFIED*:

US TEAMS:
1st Boston Red Legion
2nd Philadelphia Americans
3rd Los Angeles Ironmen
4th Miami Raiders

EUROPEAN TEAMS:
1st Toulouse Tonton
2nd Oslo Menace
3rd Frankfurt Syndicate
4th Manchester Shockwave

FORMAT:
Each match will consist of a series of games played over a single 15 minutes.
A coin toss will be used to determine sides at the start of the match.
Each team will begin the match with one time out.
Teams will switch starting stations after every 3rd point scored.
The first team to score 5 points wins.

Apparently Joy Division won't be able to make it due to scheduling and budgeting concerns.

GO MANCHESTER SHOCKWAVE

SniperJON - October 15, 2006 06:20 PM (GMT)
MANCHESTER UNITED!!!

lilbill303 - October 15, 2006 06:44 PM (GMT)
I wonder who is gonna win this? why would the euro teams even agree to this?

Drex7107 - October 15, 2006 08:09 PM (GMT)
I agree this is going to be a beat-down

Wardog 117 - October 15, 2006 09:05 PM (GMT)
Too bad Joy is not playing :(. Why are you guys so anti-European teams?

Frobo - October 15, 2006 11:00 PM (GMT)
were not. Legion is a kick @$$ team. Its just that this going to be a beat down. The US teams are just so much better than they are.

Gus - October 16, 2006 01:26 AM (GMT)
I agree with Nick. Once you get past Legion and Joy Division the Euro teams don't match up. Joys not playing and Legion will there as Boston so not much left in Europe.

Wardog 117 - October 16, 2006 02:41 AM (GMT)
To be realistic about the only team that the European teams could beat would be Miami Raiders. They are a NPPL Semi-Pro team now which is about the skill of the top European teams besides Legion and Joy.

Shockwave, Syndicate, and Tonton have a chance, but Tonton and Syndicate are the top two easily out of that group.

ya. but this aint nppl. its psp xball. the raiders are a pro team and shockwave, syndacate, ton tons, or menace dpnt even play psp.

In Europe the Millenium Series is run as "XBALL LITE". This is xball with 3 minute breaks instead of two but otherwise the same thing. I think it will be closer in some games than you think.

Frobo - October 16, 2006 10:11 PM (GMT)
Xball lite is alot different than NXL. In xball lite you go to 7 points or the best of 15 min. NXL is two 20 min halfs. there are more differences and im sure bill can point them out.

SniperJON - October 17, 2006 01:36 AM (GMT)
yea the main difference in xball and xball lite is that xball is better and xball lite teams from europe suck.

true that rage would be the team to beaten but the euro teams are out of their element....

that element being drinking tea and talking about torys and labours.

Wardog 117 - October 17, 2006 01:48 AM (GMT)
oooo...cold... :o Anyway, at least we are posting again. Do you guys know if it is going to be just the US teams playing and just the European teams playing and then a USA vs. Europe finals? Or they are all in one big prelim?

Gus - October 17, 2006 02:49 AM (GMT)

Wardog 117 - October 31, 2006 10:47 PM (GMT)
Game 1: Oslo Menace vs. Miami Raiders
Winner: Miami Raiders
Why: Raiders finished 1st in the NPPL Semi-Pro Division, last three events are a 3 1 1.

Game 2: Boston Red Legion vs. Manchester Shockwave
Winner: Boston Red Legion
Why: Legion is one of the top 3 teams in the world, 1st in PSP.

Game 3: Philadelphia Americans vs. Frankfurt Syndicate
Winner: Frankfurt Syndicate
Why: Philadelphia has had a terrible NPPL Season (15th out of 18 teams) and two poor PSP placings.

Game 4: Toulouse TonTon vs. Baltimore Trauma
Winner: Toulouse TonTon
Why: TonTon was second in the Millenium only to Joy in every event save 1, while Trauma has had mediocre finishes in the PSP for the past 2 events, as well as alright NPPL Placings.

Semi 1: Miami Raiders vs. Boston Red Legion
Winner: Boston Red Legion
Why: Like I said early one of the top 3 teams in the world

Semi 2: Frankfurt Syndicate vs. Toulouse TonTon
Winner: Toulouse TonTon
Why: Better team in the Millenium

Miami Raiders vs. Frankfurt Syndicate (Playing for 3rd and 4th place)
Winner: Miami Raiders
Why: Consistency

Boston Red Legion vs. Toulouse TonTon (Playing for 1st and 2nd place)
Winner: Boston Red Legion
Why: Consistency, Top 3 team in world.

Winner: Toulouse TonTon not gonna happen
Why: TonTon was second in the Millenium only to Joy in every event save 1, while Trauma has had mediocre finishes in the PSP for the past 2 events, as well as alright NPPL Placings. millenium is not at the same skill level as psp or nppl plus trauma won world cup last year
Semi 1: Miami Raiders vs. Boston Red Legion
Winner: Boston Red Legion
Why: Like I said early one of the top 3 teams in the world
