Just the basics. One of the non-neon body kits would be a good start. Second, a remote kit and a large tank. Finally, a good barrel set. Most scenario promoters are event paint only, and the ability to match up to the paint is crucial.

I've been using a standard Autococker Trilogy in scenario play without all the fancy addons with great success. The only time you really need a scope is if you intend on sniping, which isn't really a big part of most games anyway.

If you do wish to add scopes and misc. to your ion, Spec Ops has a body kit with the weaver mounts as well as a longbow sniper kit, Q-loader adapter, and an assortment of stocks. http://www.specialopspaintball.com/shop/ca...208302&PAGE=ALL None of it is really required for good scenario play unless you want the Mil=Spec look.

SniperJON - October 13, 2006 07:50 PM (GMT)
those body kits are cool
but there is no such thing as sniping

Pyrosoldier - October 13, 2006 09:02 PM (GMT)
well, i have been looking at the Milsim Bodykit and the Black Cell, but i look at the black cell and the weaver mounts are on top, so the hopper would be in the way.

EDIT: I would get the Longbow Kit, but 400 is off my budget.

Splatmaster - October 14, 2006 05:29 PM (GMT)
They are pricey, and truthfully, the body kits are really only good for looks unless you intent to attach fancy stuff to the marker. What we use when we do scenarios is basically stock marker. (stock as in out of the box, unmodified).

I guess what I'm getting at is you really don't need to make any changes to the Ion to make it a good scenario marker. You could probaly say that scenario ball is the equalizer. 15+bps is no good if you can't get the balls past the brush. It's handy to have that kind of firepower, but a guy well entrenched in a rhodendron bush with an A5 has nearly the same chance of hitting you first.

I reccomend a good barrel kit or set, a remote for the air, and a quiet hopper, but even as is, the Ion, and pratically any marker, will make a good scenario gun.

I beg to differ on the sniper thing Jon.

But ya scenario play lasts much longer than walkon games, eaven more than any theam-day Toby might have at the field. The stargate theam-day was about 7-8 hours, and we had long brakes to get refils, in scenario play you spend hours trudging down paths, over rocks (mountions), and craling through brush. So make sure you have a comfertable way to cary your marker. Find a way to attach a sling and get your air off-gun, using a remote line. a larger air tank would also keep you in the game longer.

(Sniping in paintball is not mind numbing distance shots, it's the art of concealment and knowing your marker. "Can you make a single shot elimination?" that is the true question to determin the skill of a PB-sniper.)

SniperJON - October 17, 2006 01:42 AM (GMT)
but in paintball you almost always know where the other person is

this isnt real guns

and if you ask someone what sniping is they say its going in the towers and shooting them.

Drex7107 - October 17, 2006 09:08 PM (GMT)
Sniping is gay

SniperJON - October 18, 2006 12:42 AM (GMT)

You know you are gay or that there is no sniping?

Sniping in paintball refers to a style of play and not sharpshooting from a great distance as, of course, the distance that a paintball can travel is quite limited and no gun shoots farther than another save one outfitted with the Flatline system. Paintball sniping refers to a style of play, applied in woods games, where the sniper will attack by surprise and from concealment, often moving from one spot to another, as they wait for their opponents to come within range or make their way quietly into shooting range of their target. While the sniper won't be found at your local speedball field, you will see them (or not) at a big games, and scenario games, where the fields are much larger, game times are longer, and where there are many more players involved in the game.

Naysayers will claim that snipers are nothing more than campers, but here is the difference: the camper will find himself a comfortable spot, often an easily defended man-made bunker, and there he will stay and happily wait until the action comes to him. The sniper, on the other hand, is working the bush, using any cover to his advantage as he stealthily makes his way into the area where his opponents are to be found or sets up for an eminent ambush. He may hold a position for some time before moving on, always alert for the next best spot of concealment, often taking to the ground to crawl to the next position undetected. Sometimes he will be on a special mission to dispatch a particular player on the opposing team and pass up many other targets to do so. His most useful weapons are patience, stealth, camoflauge, and knowledge.

Sniping is a skill that must be practiced and excercised. Simply shooting another player from a concealed position does not a sniper make.

It seems to me, other than there is too much worrying about the existence of snipers in paintball, that the problem is perspective. You are using the military job description for sniper. It's different for paintball. That's why the role is qualified by the word paintball. There are paintball snipers. Sneaky little people that move and fire from concealed locations.

There is no school for PB snipers. No governing organization. No test to pass to earn a sniper's badge.

Since you like examples, here's one for you... everyone knows that a martini is made with gin and vermouth. But there are some people out there that insist on using vodka. This is not a martini. It is a vodka martini. Note the qualifying word... vodka.

Same with a paintball sniper. The qualitfying word 'paintball' scales the job description of sniper to the limitations of paintball.

There is no PB sniper school, no governing body, no test to pass to earn a badge. A paintball sniper is defined by how one plays.
Sneaking, hiding, shooting when it counts.

When I scream, "Sniper!" everyone around knows what I mean. And reacts to it.

What do you do when someone screams, "Sniper?" Ignore them?

SniperJON - October 22, 2006 04:47 AM (GMT)
ok your cool
Now, I'm going to write a big essay about absolutly nothing too.
Your skill.
Let me just begin by asking a really stupid question, like you did. "How much time did you waste writing that?
Sniping in your terms is like blah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blah your gay blah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blah your gayerblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blah your still gay blah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blah your totally gayblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blahblah blah
There is no school where you learned to be gay, no governing body, no test to pass to earn a badge. you being gay is defined by how you play.
Sneaking, hiding, and running away when it counts.

fag.

I am getting rid of your avatar Jon. Don't do it again.

Jiu-Jitsu Fighter - October 23, 2006 02:27 AM (GMT)
I'm glad you liked it drex. To me that is just what someone does when they arent intelligent enough to debate something. See that is the difference betwene alot of people. Some people can prove a point, and some people can't so they try to belittle other people because of it.

I just don't let it bother me. But then again I am not 14 years old either.

Drex7107 - October 23, 2006 03:23 PM (GMT)
This is just an internet forum. i really have trouble taking just about anything seriously that i read here, so if anyone was offended... go eat a hot dog.

Frobo - October 23, 2006 04:37 PM (GMT)
^lol.

lilbill303 - October 23, 2006 06:58 PM (GMT)
lets stop all the huffity-puffity, senario people hate speedball and speedball people hate senario. why cant we all get along?

Jiu-Jitsu Fighter - October 23, 2006 07:50 PM (GMT)
That isnt true. Not all scenario or woodsball people hate speedball. They just dont care for the way the "tourney" guys play and act. Speedball or "tourney" people think they are too good for woodsball.

But there are those that like both. The last scenario team I was on had people that played in the cfoa. And liked to play both just for the different atmosphere.

SniperJON - October 23, 2006 07:53 PM (GMT)
god stop being a know it all.

Jiu-Jitsu Fighter - October 23, 2006 09:51 PM (GMT)
Ok well since you like to "act" tough. Why don't you stop acting 14.

Besides you have no right to be calling anyone ugly
