Title: DM* vs Proto

Gus - December 17, 2006 03:34 AM (GMT)
How about Frodo, LittleBill or Sniperjon detailing the major diferences between a DM series and a Proto.
I like both but honestly don't know much about either except DM's are supposed to have more features.
It would be usefull to people wanting to compare the 2.

OP = Operation Pressure and Shot count estimates is based on a 68/4500
EXAMPLE to convert shot count on 45/4500:

1300 / 68ci = 19.12 shots per ci @ 4500 psi
19.12 x 45ci = 860 shots per 4500 psi

*NOTE*weights are per industry standard... no barrel, battery, asa, reg.

YES. There are eye covers.

FAQ from Nordic Ninja:

-----
Changes of the PM7 to its predecessor (PM6)
New milling
1/5" shorter in height and 3.5 oz. lighter in weight
New smaller internal modular LPR
All new aluminum eye plates
The trigger placement is 3/8" shorter w/ More sensitive trigger adjustments
Multiple firing modes (semi, psp, millennium)

-----
Changes of the PM6 to its predecessor (PM5)
New milling
1/2" shorter in height and 4 oz. lighter in weight
2 piece Proto barrel (.690 bore)
New and improved LPR
New faster solenoid
LP bolt guide
Metal logo inserts
Locking no rise feedneck
ASA/Proto on/off bottomline
Integrated slide rail

-----
DM5 is 1/2 in. shorter than and 2 ounces lighter than the DM4, the DM6 is 1/2 in. short and 7 ounces lighter than the DM5
PM5 is 2 ounces lighter than the DM5 and 4 ounces lighter than the DM4.
PM6 shaved off .5 inches off the height and 4 ounces off the weight of its predecessor (PM5).
The Proto Matrices do not have removable chips, only removable boards. You can also get the boards flashed.
All guns use the Fuse Bolt design. The DM4 bolt is longer than the others, proving inefficient, the short bolt will get well get an extra 200 shots. The Pm5 gets more air because it runs at higher pressure, which also means more kick.
The DM4 & DM5 use an inline pressure of 180 psi and the DM6 runs at 165 psi. The PM5 runs at 220 psi and the PM6 runs at 165-170 psi.
The DM4 & DM5 use the same electronics, the DM5 is stock programmed faster, the PM5 and PM6 is completely different, and the DM6 comes stock with the UL Grip Frame, which comes with its own electronics.
The DM5 and the DMC are basically the same, except the DMC has stock Tournament Settings and 2 ounces lighter with the composite frame.
The DM6 and PM6 has an improved Solenoid which has improved efficiency with battery life, bolt life, and a longer lasting solenoid. The Self Cleaning Eyes makes it easier for players to not take time to clean their guns on the field.
The DM6 UL Frame features an LED Indicator near the thumb, this provides a quick view on the status of your marker.

Sorry, looks like I should have :o . Great job

Drex7107 - December 17, 2006 04:43 AM (GMT)
Why thank you

tater - December 17, 2006 05:17 AM (GMT)
so where did you copy that from?

Frobo - December 17, 2006 07:59 AM (GMT)
going from my experience there is not much difference between the dm and pm. they both operate the same way and they both use the fuse bolt tho the tail of the bolt is different and so is the length of the air chamber. The PM uses ribbon eyes and the dm uses wires. the main difference is the weight in a pm is a little more up front because of the LPR being up there. Its all personal preference really. I mean I bet drex loves his PM6 and bill loves that DM6. its all up to your taste in comfort and looks.

Drex7107 - December 18, 2006 08:37 PM (GMT)
I sure do love my pm6. i snuggle with it on a regular basis.

SniperJON - December 18, 2006 09:17 PM (GMT)
yea now that i iown both
its all good

Drex7107 - December 19, 2006 01:38 AM (GMT)
You have a pm6?

SniperJON - December 19, 2006 01:41 AM (GMT)
Rail

Beckham117 - December 19, 2006 02:07 AM (GMT)
rail no count jon

lilbill303 - December 19, 2006 02:11 AM (GMT)
Pm = great gun
Dm = excellent gun

performance wise there is no real difference in the two guns. they basicly shoot the exact same. but as always, u get what u pay for. a DM6/7 is gonna be better than a PM6/7. one major reason is that DMs come with UL frames and UL barrels. but that is the only perfomance difference between the two

KernalBH - December 19, 2006 11:32 AM (GMT)
Thinking about getting a DM4 from Nathan, He got it from Jeremy at Asheville assassins player.

Can someone tell me how to contact jeremy, pops, or someone that knows this gun?

Drex7107 - December 19, 2006 07:01 PM (GMT)
But bill, dm6 new = $1200 pm6 new = $725 + $100 for UL Barrel + $200 for UL Frame =$1025 and they are the same weight.

Frobo - December 19, 2006 07:40 PM (GMT)
you can get a new DM6 for $800 now if not less than that.

Drex7107 - December 20, 2006 08:52 PM (GMT)
And you can get a ul'd pm6 for around $600
