Title: The Return of Video Game Progress

ie - May 29, 2006 01:07 AM (GMT)
Okay, so I have segregated the Flyff gaming from the rest of the gaming. Considering that I don't really play games much, haven't really except in bursts over the past five to ten years, I may not post here much.

Go on, you gamers, talk about things like video game progresses, while denoting your spoilers. Be merry, and things of that nature.

edit: Lest we forget, no Flyffetering is allowed here.

Scumdogg - May 29, 2006 03:06 AM (GMT)
My attempts to 100% New Super Mario Bros. are going pretty smoothly... i wish there was something that told you your exact percentage, but all you get is a 3rd star next to your file. I have a second star, i'm not sure what that denotes...it just popped up during my last playing session. Anyway, i have completed 3 worlds at 100%, and the others are pretty close.

Went on to the final stages in Mega Man X2, damn that boss in the second X Hunter stage is ridiculously hard. I don't think i've ever encountered a Mega Man boss that was such a pain in the ass to hit.

I have attained the maximum level of 5-room mansion on Animal Crossing, and i am filthy rich. My attempt to make millions and purchase the ridiculous high-end items started today with my spending of a quarter million bells on turnips. If this doesn't pay off i'll jump out my office window. :D

I have games for my actual consoles i haven't even played yet, including new shit i've barely touched like The Godfather. I don't know why the hell i sit on the couch playing my DS all day.

ie - May 29, 2006 07:02 AM (GMT)
Because as I noticed today, the DS has a very bright screen.

And because, as we all know, the sun isn't really a star. It's a Nintendo DS.

Scumdogg - May 29, 2006 08:17 AM (GMT)
Woo!! I beat Mega Man X2. Eat it, Sigma! :ph43r: I started X3. Mmm, ugly Playstation version...

Classic DS? Because the Lite blows it away, if the sun is a classic DS then super novas are DS Lites

I started playing Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, so far it's not terrible, which is surprising. I didn't really like the original Tactics, I didn't expect to like this.

Da_Macster - May 30, 2006 01:12 AM (GMT)
I still dont get whats so good with the DS light, isnt it just pretty much the SP of DS's?

Dragonsbrethren - May 30, 2006 01:28 AM (GMT)
Smaller, lighter, brighter... I think that's their little slogan for it, not sure. But it's accurate, it is indeed smaller, much better looking, weighs less, and the screen is much easier to see. The stylus is also bigger which doesn't sound that important but it's much easier to use now.

The_Z - May 30, 2006 04:00 AM (GMT)
Got another heart piece in Link to the Past. :P One more to go!

Da_Macster - May 30, 2006 04:02 AM (GMT)
LoZ: Bored, stoped...

HL2: Just screwing around.....

Forbidden game: At lvl 19....

Jax - May 30, 2006 04:25 AM (GMT)
Just bought Civ III (yeah, Civ 4 is the current one, but I'm cheap)...hammerin' everyone as Hammurabi, and pissin' Ghandi and the Indians off (but me an' Mao took care of 'em...:) )

...and I've been spending an inordinate amount of time on Dragon Warrior Monsters...I beat that yesterday with a FangSlime, a Unicorn, and a Chamelgon. Your wimpy MetalKings and MetalDraks bow to me! Muahahahahahaaaa....

Scumdogg - May 30, 2006 05:08 AM (GMT)
Damn that Ghandi....i hate him so much....

ie - May 30, 2006 08:06 AM (GMT)
I played a little bit of Quest 64.

Goddamn. My television is so bad that I got turned around in a cave. You see, my screen allowed me to see two colors: black and really black. I tuned the television's output so everything became violet and radiated, then escorted myself right out of that cave.

Mainly, though, I just leveled up some skills, mainly HP and occasionally MP.

I do overall enjoy the game, though. Just that cave... made of pirates and Aquaman...

Marcelo X - May 30, 2006 02:33 PM (GMT)
Started playing Final Fantasy V on my PSP Emulated and Final Fantasy II on my P901iS again (Don't really know why I stopped.)

Almost finished with Silent Hill 4: The Room on PC.

Da_Macster - May 31, 2006 01:14 AM (GMT)
HL2: Downloaded some mods for HL2, waiting until something happens...

Teh Forbidden Game: At lvl 19.... need to get to lvl 20 to Fly! yay!

Doom 3: Got it for xbox today, its alright but its strange that the dead enemies disintegrate when they die (or when humans/zombies turn to a skeleton, then disintegrate...)

Doom 3 is sweet. I got it back when it came out, and i still occasionally bust it out to play a couple levels. My only issue with it is that i just wish the guy would tape his flashlight to his damn gun. :D

Dragonsbrethren - May 31, 2006 05:26 PM (GMT)
Finished Final Fantasy IV Advance again, I haven't been keeping track of how many times it's been. European version is out in a few days, I'll probably download the ROM and play through that, see if anything's been changed.

Da_Macster - May 31, 2006 09:55 PM (GMT)
HL2:Episode1: OMFG!!!! My f***ing parents "accendently" canceled my pre-order, so now I have to spend an extra $5 (cdn) to re-pre-order because the stupid deal is over now!!
Edit: Re-pre-ordered it, but it still sucks that I have to pay more money, even though its still says that the 10% discount is on....

Runescape: OMFG#2!!! They finally release those damn player owned houses (been waiting for over a year, only reason to keep watching RS...) to find out that its members only even though they said awile back that it would be for free players too!!! im sending them a letter of how BS this is!
Appertenly your no longer allowed to contact them anymore unless you are a member or if its about a bug in the game..... WTF IS THIS SHIT!

LoZ: Still cant beat that damn flower thing, can this day get any worse!

Scumdogg - June 1, 2006 03:13 AM (GMT)
I remembered today that i owned The Godfather video game, so i started playing that again. How sad is it when a game has only been released for a couple months, and i've already forgotten i own it? Crazy part is, it's a really good game, too.

Anyway, i'm at about 25% of total game completion after one day, so...Grand Theft Auto it ain't. I've attained the rank of Soldier though, and i'm having fun. The business extortion stuff rocks. Also, i actually have a garotte wire in my inventory now, how sweet is that?

ie - June 1, 2006 03:31 AM (GMT)
You know, while reading the novel, I thought a garotte was some kind of rifle.

Based on the preview disc that came with the DVD Collection (which I'm gonig to watch for my birthday; I bought it as a very early birthday present, you see ^_^ ), the game did look fun.

Dragonsbrethren - June 1, 2006 03:43 AM (GMT)
I got to Baron in the European version of Final Fantasy IV Advance, this is actually going pretty quick, shouldn't be long before I find out if the battle system has really been fixed.

Heh, a rifle is probably the least efficient thing you could possibly use to choke somebody. :P

Yeah, i forgot he makes an appearance in the book.

Scumdogg - June 3, 2006 12:25 AM (GMT)
Attained the rank of Capo in The Godfather. This game is actually bigger than my initial assessment led me to believe. There are not very many missions if compared to a similar game like San Andreas, but there are approximately one metric fuckton of businesses to take over, and a good amount of "hit" missions, which function as an aside to the main story.

Finally got a million bells in the bank on Animal Crossing: WW, so if that damn crown accessory ever shows up again i can buy it. This sudden monetary influx is due to the fact that this game becomes fun to play in June, since that's when all the profitable fish and bugs show up. Three cheers for fish and bugs!!

Da_Macster - June 3, 2006 02:22 AM (GMT)
Fishing is a really good way to earn money

RS: ACK! this game is slow drawing me back like the Wii is :o Which is sad because i hate this game.... its probley because of those new player owned houses and new servers in vancouver... also I got the sudden urge to send in $5.... its just like crack!

HL2:E1: THis itself is probley better than HL2!!! now waiting for Episode 2, then 3

Da_Macster - June 6, 2006 02:55 AM (GMT)
RS: Wow, after giving this a 2nd chance, im actually re-addicted again :o its alright, simple, and mostly free. theres like about 200,000 people who play this game, and most of them are asshole n00bs that just hate everyone. im thinking of getting a membership maybe, and im already at lvl 20+ on my main skills in just 2 days! im already farther than on Flyff and ive been playing for like 2 weeks (dosent include magic, ranged, crafting, and runecrafting)

HL2/GMod: Just screwing around, having random "Dawn of the dead" like NPC fights and taking random pics

Halo2: Wow, online this is probley the most STRESSFUL GAME I HAVE EVER PLAYED!!! I mean, like almost %20 of the people who play this game are modding, stand-by'ers, or just bridge you out of the game. and %50 are just racist, asshole N00bs, is a 2-month really worth this?

Collector - June 6, 2006 05:21 AM (GMT)
Started playing Dragon Quest 8 yesterday. I played for about 2 hours and I didn't even get to the point where the demo ended.

Dragonsbrethren - June 6, 2006 04:09 PM (GMT)
Still playing the European version of FF4a, I'm about to go kill Zeromus for the first time. I stupidly forgot to return the Frying Pan, so now I lack the Kitchen Knife and I'm stuck with the damn Frying Pan in my inventory for the rest of the game...

I started FF9 again, got out of the Evil Forest, lost interest. I did play the card game for about an hour, got some decent cards out of it, still seems useless though. I only beat FF9 twice, both times I skipped all the optional crap and still had no troubles at the end.

Scumdogg - June 6, 2006 05:04 PM (GMT)
Finished The Godfather, for all intents and purposes. 100% on Contract Hits, 100% on Missions. I still have some warehouses and shops to take over, and some collectibles to round up..but the game proper is over.

Scumdogg - June 9, 2006 06:32 PM (GMT)
Finally got back into FF VI after a long hiatus. I stopped playing before right before the Tower of Fanatics, because i remembered hating it years ago. Memory was correct in this case, and i still hate that damn tower to this day. Not because it's hard. That wouldn't bother me. But because it took for fucking ever to get up all those stairs with the famous Final Fantasy encounter rate of every 5 steps. On top of that, every battle took forever, and then after beating the boss at the top, you get to walk all the way back down. Hooray!!
It really seemed to serve no purpose other than to deplete my precious supply of ethers and elixers for the final portions of the game.

Update: I found the cursed shield. It was in a house not even close to where the FAQs seem to point. Now i'm cursed. Whee! :D

Remember, remember, Mog's moogle charm on the fifth of November...

Huh?

Collector - June 10, 2006 03:06 AM (GMT)
Well I remember, I remember don't worry
How could I ever forget, it's the first time, the last time we ever met
But I know the reason why you keep your silence up, no you don't fool me
The hurt doesn't show; but the pain still grows
It's no stranger to you or me

Da_Macster - June 10, 2006 03:17 AM (GMT)
?..... nice poem.....

MechAssault 2: Already beaten it, now kicking ass online, and trying to figure out how to play this "Conquest" mode online, but it might be down because the last war update was 2 months ago... online is pretty sweet, they have everything, even a game where you dont kill people and just chat with eachother!

ie - June 10, 2006 03:30 AM (GMT)
My sources tell me that Collector is plagurising a Phil Collins song.

Moogle Charm:
The Moogle Charm is a relic that can only be equipped by Mog. It nullifies all random encounters, and is often used to pass through areas with an underdeveloped party.

I can't tell you where you can find this mother, but once you equip it, you can stroll through your favorite tower and admire the mind-numbing boredom of walking up several million flights of stairs.

Ironic that I hang out in a video game forum yet never play video games. Ah well, I have enough basic knowledge to do general question answering.

edit: Scumdogg, you don't don't seem to recognize my adapted quote. V For Vendetta? I thought you'd make a comment about a failed adaption at the least. :(

Da_Macster - June 10, 2006 03:46 AM (GMT)
MA2: Yeah, i checked their site/fourms and appertanly clans completly killed the game mode by TK'ing the "groups" so that 1 group will win. it looked like a fun game type, its like Risk meets Battlefield, or like the Conquest gametype on Starwars, Battlefront 2

Runescape: Wootness, almost done all the Quests now, trying to lvl up all my main skills to 30

ie - June 10, 2006 03:52 AM (GMT)
Oh yeah, Da, you haven't done anything wrong, but I'd like to stress unto you a specific format I would like to see in this thread:

[Game title in FULL, none of this shorthand crap I can never remember because MA2 could be a gun, I'm mostly unfamiliar with Mech Assault, and all this other shit]:

(Spoiler tag if needed)

(What you've done.)

So...

Super Mario World: Yoshi's Island

(spoilers)

I just found out that Luke's father drinks Ebola Cola! (Transmetropolitan reference there.)

Besides, your current format is too cramp. I don't like reading little squished in text. Spread out, type more.

I have ranted.

Scumdogg - June 10, 2006 04:12 AM (GMT)
I haven't seen V for Vendetta yet. I am lame. :(

The theatre-going experience for me is very rare, reserved only for things that will explode my face if i don't see them immediately. I'd just rather watch a movie at home where it's quiet than in a room filled with loud and irritating people.

Upon investigation of my inventory, i have no Moogle Charm. I will need to find it, although now its greatest purpose has passed.

More FF VI progress: Beat the Dirt Dragon. 3 dragons left. Man, it's weird the shit you just remember to do years and years later... "Go to the Opera House...equip Cherub Down on all party members". Why do i remember that?

Also on the FF VI front, here is my decree. If Gau can't learn a monster's Rage, then said monster has no business on the Veldt. I encountered Pugs there, did the Leap, and got nothing. Nothing!! Grr.

ie - June 10, 2006 05:30 AM (GMT)
Didn't read the comics either?

I'm not a theatre-going person myself, but I was able to watch it... Definitely sold me on the DVD release, though.

Second greatest purpose: Kefka's Tower. Level yourself up fairly well before going in, then walk around all you want and get to Kefka without being near-dead.

Da_Macster - June 10, 2006 06:10 AM (GMT)
it skips boss battles too? like the Goddess, Doom, and that?

Edit:

Runescape: remember earlier when i was gonna send in a letter because of player owned houses being members only, well I finally got a reply back
