Just when I thought they couldn't possibly make me regret trading my DS for a PSP, this little gem comes out.

Grrr...

That's pretty much every video review, unfortunately.

Isn't there any way you can discreetly skim a DS when the next kid comes in and trades his in for 12 gamebucks? :)

Nope. I think I'm going to pursue an opportunity in management. Games are good business these days and don't show any sign of going in the crapper, like my other source or primary income. Besides, it's so easy. I have offered people cash for their stuff, from me personally. Usually on stuff we don't take as trades.

It looks like Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories meets Barbie Super Model.

Games are good for business, but GameStop is terrible for the games business. It's a vicious cycle.

Everytime i go in there i tell myself it'll be the last. The most recent venture was just to get Mega Man Powered Up at the Tiffin Ave. store in Findlay, during which i was badgered and berated for choosing a "new" copy of the game and not saving $2 or whatever on their scratchy-ass used copy. I literally had to stand there and debate with them for several minutes before they'd ring up a new copy for me. I only went there because i had literally tried 15 other retailers in the Dayton area, and it's long out of stock and out of print, and those guys still made me regret every second of my shopping experience there.

So if you're gonna go into management, just try to keep your employees from being huge dicks. The world will be a slightly better place for it. :)

Yeah, I have a similar story to that one while trying to buy Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones.

"You sure you don't want to buy it used? It's much cheaper."

"No thanks, I don't like to get RPGs without the manual."

"But you can just look stuff like that up online."

"I'd really just like to buy it new."

*headdesk*

I never run into GameStop employees like that. They're usually friendly, take no for an answer on the first try, don't argue, etc.

Do you usually buy new or used games when you're there?

Collector - May 10, 2008 04:29 AM (GMT)
Used to be both, but it's been more used lately.

Well there ya go. If you're buying mostly used, you're clearly not going to preorder new games with them, so they don't bother on that. But you're already buying into the used stuff, so that's good enough. But if you're not doing either, they *will* hassle you on one or the other. :)

Haven't played my copy of TWEWY yet. I really gotta get to work on this back log.
