Title: Oblivion

Meaphet Ran - April 17, 2006 07:14 AM (GMT)
well i finally picked it up after and i am hooked, traveeling to new location is annoying but, the game has so many side quest id need to take of my shoes to count them...

im playing as a wood elf assassin (level 12) , and have already become the leader of the dark brotherhood, the assassins group. im the champion of the arena fighting and im on a quest to steal as many forks knives and spoons as i can...

so who else has this game and what are they

Brak'hir - April 17, 2006 08:54 AM (GMT)
Thats on the 360 right???

My freind has it, im going to his house soon...... massive warhammer/Lan party.... its gonna be sweet

Meaphet Ran - April 17, 2006 08:59 AM (GMT)
ive got it on pc, but yeah its on 360 my computer can only handle it on medium graphics :(

Calaith - April 17, 2006 11:29 AM (GMT)
A shame Meaphet, a shame. My brother got a new computer almost souly for Oblivion, so we can see it at full graphics (or as close as possible.) and it still runs like clock work.

I'd just like to point out the many things that make Oblivion so much better then Morrowind though.
- The Graphics, but that almost goes without saying. The enviroments look beautiful, the mist in caves and dungeons give them a really spooky quality, and mud crabs actually look like crabs, not little mounds with pincers. Plus the cities, though there are less of them, look way way way cooler. The Imperial city is actually a city, and just has more of a 'capital city' feel than Vivec did.
- The quests are just damn cooler. They come with so many twists, and have a much better story. On top of that its harder to get into some guilds, and you actually have to go through sub-quests to join the Thieves Guild, and the Dark Brotherhood.
- Picking your character and stats is also way cooler. Choosing skills is easier without choosing minor skills, as you aren't trapped with so many worthless skills you'll never use, and its quicker and simpler. Plus the fact that you can create your own face is unreal, I just found it hard not to make myself look stupid, and spent hours perfecting my face.

Now that thats all out of the way, my Character is an Exorcist. He hunts daemons (Deadra), Undead, Necromancers and evil magicians, but specalises in hunting Vampires. He does this at a price of course.
Hows this for ironic though.....I'm a vampire hunter, and I'm turned into a Vampire! Had to go through a huge quest to cure myself. Lucky for me though I've had alot of quests concerning Vampires to keep me happy, and am even apart of a Vampire hunting brotherhood.

Anywho, enough of my long winded speech.
Cheers, Cal

Only just got hold of this and it is awesome (though i'm only just out of the sewers, currently running a kharjit(sp?) assassin whilst i get the hang of the game... never played morrowind so its kind of a new gaming experience for me

Calaith - April 20, 2006 12:04 AM (GMT)

I believe its spelt: Khajiit.

Heres a question, who here bothers closing Oblivion gates when you see them about the place? And how many have people closed?

Currently I've closed 5, and I agree that their a pain in the neck to close so why bother. But you can actually pull some pretty cool items out of them some of the time, like my new Daedric sword for example (Blasphemy! Exorcists using Daemonic weapons?). Plus you got a little red stone at the end of each one allowing you to enchant your own unenchanted weapons.

Meaphet Ran - April 20, 2006 11:15 AM (GMT)
i beleive there are 16 oblvion gates ive found 8 but have only closed the one at kvatch. im using a wood elf assasisin, im the grand champion of the arena and took down 3 minator lord at once wwith my trusty sword, im also the listener (leader) of the dark bhood, and the umaster of the theives guild, the final quest took me ages. for those doing it, bring as many agical weapons as you can, soul gems healing potitons (poisons arnt much use until the very end) it took me ages to get through and with my main advantage being a master of alchemy (stat line of 100) and wih 99% of the enmies being immune to statis effects i struggled my way through with looted staffs.

i have an awsome item called a skelton key (+40 security) it weighs practically nothing. im not a fan of Daedric weapons, i have a few but i prefer glass weapons because they dont weigh nearly as much.

hers another question for you law breakers: whats the highest amount of bounty youve had on you at any one stage? i got up to 27340 before i couldnt keep it up, its to hard completing assassination missions with the guards after you

my collection of cutlery is over 100

UltraMagnus - April 22, 2006 10:32 PM (GMT)
i dont perticually like it....

too "open" for an offline game if you ask me

Calaith - April 23, 2006 12:24 AM (GMT)

Guessing that you mean 'open' as in your free to do whatever the hell you like? Its supposed to be like that.

The advantages are it has a really good story line (which often fails the psycho online gaming fun of senslessly killing each other.), and you don't get owned by really good players over the net (which happens to me alot if I venture to online gaming.)

Plus, being 'open' is what the fun of the game is all about. Being able to choose your character, make him into whatever you like (with a background story if your into that sort of stuff.) and then walk about doing whatever you like. Other advantages being that you cn play the game at least two or three times over with a different character and it would still be interesting.

@ Meaphet,

I've found the lair of your imfamous "Dark Brotherhood" and I'm not even becoming a member. Kinda accidentaly found it, but I can't get in to kill everyone which sucks.... ;)

Meaphet Ran - April 23, 2006 01:12 PM (GMT)
lol its ok if you joi them you get to do that later anyway =)

i turnt the graphics onto high, if lagged for a few seconds but now its fine. ive also now closed 5 oblivion gates im doing a quest that makes me close a stack of them. im now a master of 2 skills, alchemy and marksman

oh yeah i kinda got mauled by half a dozen vampires after i got smashed in the face with a warhammer with nothing but a sheild between the two, making myself stumble and get infected as they all piled in (i survived but now im a vampire) so where do i begin the quest to get cured , just so i can stop being a vampire after ive had my fun biting people

Calaith - April 24, 2006 08:16 AM (GMT)

lol, it is fun biting people isn't it?

I talked to someone who was in a Chapel (a healer), who sent me to speak with a member at the mages guild at the Arcane University. I think you can just go up and talk to the guy at the Arcane University (he's in the circular bit you enter with the two benches, only during the day.). He sends you to the Count of somewhere....and the quest unfolds from there.

Just be sure to suck blood regularly so you don't end up dying in sunlight.

Meaphet Ran - April 24, 2006 01:47 PM (GMT)
ah thats why my "sun damage" keeps dissapearing, ill assume thats also why my vampire stats are at minimum ive had vampirism 50 but it normally sits at 25

i did a quest that required me to close half a dozen oblivion gates im sick of the bloody things now, thankfully the quest is done.

another side note, does anyone whow where a person can train my armourer skill is?

Calaith - April 25, 2006 12:59 AM (GMT)

I think that there is an smith either in Bruma or in the Imperial City's Market District that teach armourer. You might want to check all of them, but I can't garuntee any of them can train you.

Euleze - April 25, 2006 01:42 AM (GMT)
Wait I'm confused, isn't theri a Bruma in Eldar of Scrolls?

Calaith - April 25, 2006 01:57 AM (GMT)
???

There is a Bruma in 'Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion', not sure about the other Elder scrolls...

Meaphet Ran - April 25, 2006 01:34 PM (GMT)
im now one mean vampire, with the ability to be invisible +20 to around 10 different stats including strength and immune to normal weapons, but im in need of some real powerful sunblock

Calaith - April 26, 2006 06:36 AM (GMT)

Cool! I never got any of those abilities, simply because not being able to go out into the sun at all was anoying and was getting in the way of finding a cure, plus I needed to be able to talk to merchants.
What do you look like? My fellas face got pretty wierd as the Vamparism worsened.

Meaphet Ran - April 26, 2006 11:32 AM (GMT)
yeah mines like that too, i also found my first problem with oblivion and im not the only one, after you have finishd the main quest the cure for vampirism screws up and the lady wont let you give her any blood grass, i tried a so-called solution but it didnt work, if anyone has any help id be glad to hear it.

since i became a vampire my money has slowly drained from 30,000 to just 3000 and now than im tired of blood sucking i find out it doesnt work! am i destined to be poor?

Calaith - April 27, 2006 06:55 AM (GMT)

Unless you start again.....yes, yes it does mean your destined to be poor.....I think you should be able to conitnue playing the game nromally as long as you remember to suck blood like every night to avoid becoming a fully fledged Vampire in all your glory!

Personaly though, I am very glad I made finding the cure a top priority!
