Title: What Have You Read?

I thought that it would be interesting to find out what Black Library books you have read, and whether they were any good.

Personally, I've read Storm of Iron by Graham McNeill and Execution Hour by Gordon Rennie, and I thought that both of these were absolutely brilliant, and that they capture the essence of the 40K universe brilliantly.

I've read storm of Iron. It was ok, but not my favourit book ever.

It had some brilliant imagery and battling and stuff. However the dialog was a bit to cheesy, and it went through a few stages where nothing much happened and it was kinda boring. The only real interesting stuff comes right towards the end, especialy when the Imperial Fists join the fight.

One more thing I apsalutely hated about the book where how polite and friendly the Space Marines were! It was just so...silly. It gave me the image of a space marine was the sort of person that helped old grannies cross the road, or got cats outa trees. Not intergalactic alien hunters that had seen the most horrific things in life that would have scarred their minds and made them battle hardened veterans!

On other books I've been meaning to read 'Nightbringer' being a Necron collector. But I've heard the Necrons don't actually make much of an apearance in the book, and neither does the Nightbringer untill right untill the end.

The other books I've been wanting to read is the Inquisitor series. Inquisitor Draco or whatever his name is? Heard it has some Eldar and Harlequin stuff in it, especialy in the second one.

Cheers, Cal

Ive read the Konrad trilogy, its fantasy but its still pretty good......

The first one was a bit slow for my taste, but the 2nd and 3rd were great.......

Ive also read Space Wolf, which is an excellent book, basically its ragnar blackmane's life story......well, the beggining of it.....

I'll have to agree with Cal on Storm of Iron. I was introducted to the book by one of my friends who thought the book was great but really it was a massive let down for a 40K book and a military style book. :(

I'v Read Horus Hearsy vol 1-3, The Loathsome Ratmen & Xenoligy which were really good.

Were the Horus Herasy books worthwhile buying?

I havent a clue I won them at a tourny, but now that i'v read them I suppose I would have paid for them. Otherwise I probably wouldnt have bought them, they wernt my sort of thing but I really enjoyed them after all lol. I suppose thats going with the old saying; don't knock it, until you've tried it.
