this is what I have so far. any suggestions as to what I should get next would be helpful.

Farseer
Elites
Scorpions x6
Exarch/scorpion claw
fire dragons x 4 (never really like these guys)
Troops
D. Guardians x12
D. Guardians x12
Support platform
2 guardians
rangers x5
Heavy
Warwalker x1
Scatter/brightlance
Waveserpent/falcon (built it wrong, has a falcon body with a waveserpent top.)
I know I need some fast attack. but other than that I have no clue what I should get next. I mainly play vs Nids and SM as that's the armies that my best friends have. although one of them occasionally pulls out his smaller tau army. any help/strategies for using what I have vs either of the 2 armies I mentioned would be helpful.
Thanks,
Als
oh I forgot about the fact I have 4 dark reapers as well for heavy support.
Howling banshees or Harlequin
Falcon

What powers are you giving the Farseer?

If you are fielding Dragons, you need a minimum of 5 per the Codex. As to not liking them? They are easily the best anti-armour unit in 40k. Just don't try to attack a mob of Orks with them.

Each squad needs a heavy weapon with them.

Support platform is a Heavy choice and you would need to indicate what weapon it is carrying.
Upgrade to Pathfinders if you have the points to do it.

As long as you didn't glue the turret, it should pop right out and you can switch it for the Falcon turret. What weapons are you equipping it with?

If you have a Falcon, WW, Reapers and a SWP, you have too many heavies and need to drop one.

I think the first thing you should do is decided what type of army you want to have. Fast, resilient, shooty, mech? This is important because people can tell you "I like such-and-such unit because it rocks" but it might not fit your particular play style. Obviously you could tailor an army to fight a specific type of foe, but it's always better if you can force your opponent to fight you on your terms rather than theirs.
I'm personally planning on using a lot more Jetbikes in 5th edition because of the troop-objective rule. I also tend to face a lot of armour, so Fire Dragons, Swooping Hawks (w/ their grenades) and Vypers are good choices for me.
A good strategy with Dragons is to load them in your Falcon, whisk them over to your enemy's tanks, unload, then melt them into a giant puddle. The Falcon provides cover as you trek across the field so you don't get shot-up before you get where you're going.
