Title: Interesting Conclusions
Inquisitor Liechtenstein - April 17, 2006 04:15 AM (GMT)
I've started this new topic for people to share some of those battles that just had some strange or unexpected results.
To start it off, I had a 2,500 point battle with my Eldar vs Guard and Space Wolves 13th Company. I split my Eldar into two forces so that I could deploy fairly. By the end of the third turn, all that was left of the Space Wolves were two long Fangs and the Lord with his wolves and a couple of Grey Slayers. Throughout the battle, the Guard held firm on their flank, hjolding off the Eldar, but I was amazed to see that the Lord and his little retinue managed to get completely swamped by a Seer Counsil and around 30 Guardian (amoung other things), and still came out on top. In fact, they had almost completely obliterated that entire flank by themselves. The Imperials were slighty disapointed when the Heroic Senior Officer with a power fist (the only one withing the Guard flank) got smushed by the Wraithlord in combat (although he made three 5+ invulnerable saves in one round of combat against it).
Anyway, I'll be interested to hear about some of the other interesting battles that have taken place.

A funny thing i witnessed recently was in a 500 point battle, with eldar vs iron warriors....
On turn two, the chaos lord assaulted the eldar farseer......
By turn 6 they were still there, due to terrible rolling on both sides......

That's the opposite situation with my Space Wolf Lord and Cal's warp Spider Exarch, who has a habbit of cutting down my Lord whenever he goes near him.

Not that wierd really, but in my first game using tin headz, I rolled the scatter dice 5 times. 3 out of those 5 were a direct hit, and the other two scattered under 4 inches.

If only, the battle cannon on my Leman Russ can't actually hit anything, let alone scatter well.

Tourney Game
1500pts IG vs. Black Templars
First off, it was an amazing game considering how underpowered my IG were, having only one meltagun and no lascannons against a power house army with 7 Termies, a Land Raider, and a Crusader.
The center of the table, an area with a 6" radius, was the objective, and the holder at the end of the game won.
In an amazing run of good dice rolling and dumb luck, I manage to destroy his entire army down to the Emp's Chump who finally fell in the last turn, leaving just over half of my army on the table, but about 7.5" from the table center. I was just out of range to win the game by taking the objective, thus giving my opponent a 'draw' even though his entire army was decimated.
I haven't failed to keep the objective in mind since.

Funny how that happens. I believe I was playing Lictenstein (Beil-Tan vs. Ulthwe), and by the end of the game I had nothing left but a squad of reapers. He had his Avatar, Mangled Seer Council (more than 50% casualties.) and something else, but I can't remember what....
Anywho, at the end of the Game Lictenstein had both these units in range of the objective, but the Seer Council was too mangled to hold it, and the Avatar was an indapendant character. My Reapers, realising what was going on in the fifth turn bolted for the objective, but were I think less than an inch out in the end resulting in a Draw.

its always good to play games with scenarios but theres nothing wrong with a good slug-fest
Brak'hir - May 15, 2006 08:32 AM (GMT)
I find slug fests usually generate storys of their own, while you play....
For example that one warrior/guardian who legs it away from the field by himself or whatever.....

Thats true, I've grown several stories out of sluga-thons
"The lone Guardian who single handedly dispatched the Emperor's Champion"
"To doom of Maximus (my brothers [former] SM army leader) at the hands of the Avatar."
"The Warp Spider who slew the Wolf Lord"
and of course:
"The massacre of the Black Templars" (My Necrons, a very one sided battled.)
It just depends on how they turn out. I always play with a story line in mind, so I enjoy taking risks and trying to play to the most Epic results.
Cheers, Cal

Well, a fair while ago (four or five weeks), my eleventh loss to Cal's Necrons with my Guard (yes, yes, I know, no need to comment...), I wasn't in the best mood, as I'd already lost four times the day before (should have played that classical music :D ), but I was cheered up greatly in the last few turns of the battle.
What happened was around turn three or four, my commander (Major Speirs) was in combat with the tomb spider (he has a beautiful power fist), happily swatting scarabs (besides my Hellhound, he is my chief scarab splatter). Once the scarabs were gone, he knocked one wound off the spider, and I took the other off with a heavy weapons team. From here, the Major then joined forces with my resident hero, Storm Troopers Sgt Guarnere, then the two proceeded to slice a hole through four destroyers and run down the Necron Lord at the very last moment. For me, even though there were still fifteen or so warriors sitting on the objectives at the end of the game, was picturesce, as the two heros of my army were virtually the only guys just at the end (besides the heavy weapons team on one of my own objectives).
I know this wasn't anything particularly special, but I've remembered it...
