Title: new codex, maybe

darthken - June 13, 2008 01:08 PM (GMT)
RUMORED 2009 Schedule:
First we hear that 2009 may be shaping up as follows:

September-October 08: Space Marines
December-January 09: Space Wolves
March-April 09: Imperial Guard
July-August 09: Dark Eldar
November-December 09: Necrons

The last two could get swapped as the Design Studio has supposedly made more progress on the Necron Codex and models than they have with Dark Eldar.

good to see space marines yet again get another bloody codex,
sounds like the design team couldn't give a rats fart about DE, with yet another delay

i can only Guarantee the new things.

1 A new raider has been designed. It looks like it has many spare bits. Kinda like the Ork Trukk. Can now also fit into cases.

2. Dark Eldar Warriors are currently being worked on as the Space marines are almost done.

3. Hoemonculi models are still being looked at.

4. Talos is getting a whole new remake.

Calaith - June 15, 2008 08:06 AM (GMT)
ooh, Necrons! sweet.

Does anybody else find it odd that they didn't actually get to Dark Eldar or Necrons on 4th edition? And are all the armies that were re-released in 4th edition now going to get another 5th edition re-release? I wasn't collecting for most of 3rd edition, but were the codexes always being re-released in this ongoing list of updates? Where will the madness end? When will it end!?!?

*ahem*

Well.

The Guard Codex already works pretty well. Of course now they die due to evil Orks. The Guard otherwise does fantastic and doesn't really need a new codex.

Dark Eldar just need new miniatures. and a few updaters here and there.

I hope they make plastic Talos, my metal one tends to fall over and over again.

darthken - June 17, 2008 10:14 AM (GMT)
yeah a plastic talos would rock. but if your having trouble with the ones at the moment. try this

actually pin them to the plastic stand, pin needs to be about 1/2 an inch long with a quarter inside each piece. ive had no trouble since i pinned them.

Or Wolves, or IG, or Inquisition.

Probably depends on how long they go before deciding to rewrite the rules again. With 2-3 new armies per year, they would have to go 5-7 years to come full circle. Of course part of it depends on how the Codex meshes w/ the rules. 2e to 3e saw a big change in the way you created your army list, so that necessitated the overhaul. I don't think that's the case here so they will probably prioritize based on other factors.

Everything that was out at the time had a 3e codex and some were re-released within third edition like CSM

when we retire from the hobby and don't worry about it any more. ;)

Rumours go that it will take a very long time until a new Inq. codex is to come out. Maybe the'll speed things up and throw all 3 I branches in 1 dex.

I suppose it depends on what you define as "very long." Two years would possibly not be out of the question... especially if they think they can create a buzz around it and sell some new minis. Inquisition is a faction that possibly could end up with a ton of new plastics if they decide to retool that line.

I heard that they were considering that possibility. Personally, I think that would be a smart thing to do, but as mentioned before, that could potentially mean a lot of new figures as well.

It appears that Marines and Dark Eldar are their next two codices, and I'm assuming that they aren't going to be putting out a whole lot of new marine figures, so they are probably spending most of their design staff resources on DE right now. Once those are done, they may turn their attention to such things.

well the new rumours now is the dark eldar codex is being pushed back again so it can be "done properly."
which as we all know is GW speak for " their not space marines, their not a big money earner, so who gives a damn if the customers have to wait another 6 or so months."

being done properly what a joke, codex is 10 years old now looks like it'll be 12 before the new one, way to go GW.
will more than likely have a new space marine codex before then.

Spacefrisian - October 20, 2008 02:40 PM (GMT)
Noto mention that their are also rumours of a brand new codex featuring the Adeptus mechanica and the Iron Hands Spacemarine chapter.

Not so pessimistic Darthken. ;) I know you dwell on multiple fora like me, so you must've seen the love people have for the dark kin (even SM players miss them as though opponents). I'm sure GW will do them justice. It just takes a damn long time! <_< Just wish they could feed us ocassionatly a tidbit of information to still the hunger.

Spacefrisian - November 10, 2008 03:28 PM (GMT)
Maybe they should do a WD codex to use until they publish an official codex. Like they did for Warriors of Chaos.
