Title: keeping harliquins alive

hi guys, wanted to see if anyone has any good tips on keep harliquins alive for more than 2 turns.
i've used hariles a few times and had mix results, once i used them and totaly devestated three space marine units, now i enjoyed that but it was quite lucky as the first unit nearly assualted me but i got the charge and it was like toppling dominos. i want to be able to replicate this without having to depend on luck 70% of the time.

cheers

A lot of people like putting them in a transport.

Falcons or a Shadowseer are almost a must to protect them from fire. Also use terrain to your advantage as they can ignore it when moving through it. Once in cc, 'Doom' cast by a nearby Farseer (remember no LoS is required) can help cause enough casualties that your oponent can't strike back against the squishy Harlequin Armour. 'Guide', alternatively, or if you really want these guys to succeed, can help make them just that bit more durable.

Other than those quick tips I'm not sure. I've only fielded Harlequins a few times in a Falcon, but like you, had very mixed results. I used them against Necrons and found that Doom was a MUST if they were going to do much damage.

Another tip is to try softening their targets with fire from another unit before charging, just to make sure they won't give the Harlequins trouble.

Not sure what more help I can offer. Let us know how it goes and if you come up with any tips yourself.

a shadow seer with the veil of tears is a good choice. there is always a good chance a unit or 2 will waste a turn of shooting.

yes i had 8 harliquins including a shadowseer and they had h kisses. 206pt i think.
i don't really want to put them in a falcon because i use that for my dragons. i suppose that useing cover to my best advantage would be the best way to go without transport.
i think some more practice would help work out the best tactics.
cheers for the tips guys.

Yeah, you wouldn't be able to put 8 in a falcon anyway.
Shadowseer is expensive, but worth it, in my opinion.
