Title: Eldar combat partol
Description: new finished Scorpion pic pg2

jerseydevil - January 8, 2008 04:30 AM (GMT)
began working on my Eldar cp a couple of days ago. I managed to get a good deal on all the models I wanted for the patrol. I am friends with all the guys down at the local GW store, and wanted to buy a battleforce, and swith out some of the things I didn't need. they were happy to help me out. here is what my list looks like.

Elites:
Howling Banshees x6
Striking Scropions x6
Fire Dragons x5

Troops:
Dire Avengers 1 x5
Dire Avengers 2 x5

I really like the Aspect warriors so wanted to include as many as possible. the list may not be very good, but I don't really care, I just like all the different choices. I will be keeping a blog of my progress, and post pictures when units are finished.

cool looki ng forward to seeing how this goes. please use a different colour though for 'painted' as its really hard to see against the blue background ;)

jerseydevil - January 8, 2008 03:08 PM (GMT)
thanks, yellow stands out better. hope to have some pictures by the end of the week. going to try and prime the DA's tonight.

well I started painting yesterday. it is going slow because I have never painted Eldar before. so I have to kind of figure out everything as I go. I should be able to get it down before to long. I am still trying to work out what color to paint the weapons, but I am thinking of a bone color. it seems to look the best, even though I would rather paint an easier color. more to come soon, try and have some pictures soon.

jerseydevil - January 13, 2008 07:57 AM (GMT)
hit a snag on the paint scheme. I didn't like it, so after some messing around on the Eldar painter I found something that worked. so I am behind on getting the squad done, but at least I have an idea of where to go from here.

DarthIbis - January 15, 2008 02:20 PM (GMT)
If you want the main color to be bone, I hope you primed them white.

There is an interactive Eldar painting tool on GW's website if you want to test different color schemes.

I am also finishing up a squad of guardians right now and I had to test like four or five different ways (and paint over the bad ones) before I found one that I thought would be acceptable.
(Maybe I'll start a new thread and post some pictures for critique and comment...)

finished up my first squad of Dire Avengers, but can't find my memory card to my camera. so pictures will have to wait till I find it. moving on to Fire Dragons, just need to clean them up and attach them to the bases for assembly. more to come.

ok, got a picture of the dire avengers but it is junk. you can not even see the highlights or anything, I took a ton of picture and this one came out the best. they must be camera shy. I will try to take some more later but this will have to do for now.

also got the fire dragons cleaned up and attached to the bases. I will have to wait a couple of days to try and prime them due to the cold weather we have right now. so I may just start cleaning up either the scropions or banshees till then. more to come.

yeah i have problems taking pictures of models as well, they never seem to look half as good in pictures as what they do in real life.

keep up the good work though.

the weather warmed up, so I was able to prime the fire dragons. I managed to assemble 3 scropions in the mean time. I will put them away for now until the dragons are painted.

been working on the fire dragons at night after my daughter goes to bed. this is just the foundation paint for the orange and yellow so far. I have to make a trip to the store to buy paint for these guys as well as the scropions and banshees. I have vacation next week so I want to get them all base coated before the weekend.

here is a wip shot of what I have so far. I plan on painting the rest of helmets later today, then do any touch-ups on the black armor.

they are working really well. you have to thin them down a bit to get a smooth coat. much better then painting 3 to 4 coats of regular paint.

Nice job on the Dragon. Very nice scheme, and the inking on the gun has come off well too. Keep us posted when you finish the squad, it's going to look really sweat.

just finished the squad of Fire Dragons. work and family life have been busy the past month, so I did not get a lot of time to work on them. but things slowed down this week and I got back to work and finished the last three. now I will go back and finish building the last three Striking Scropions.

Calaith - April 11, 2008 11:27 AM (GMT)
They look really cool together. Very well painted, with some very respectable subtle highlighting and in all a very neat scheme. Good work, I can't wait to see your scorpions.

well I did not feel like building any models so I decided to paint one of the already assembled Scorpions.

Calaith - April 15, 2008 06:46 AM (GMT)
Dude, sweat! Firstly it ties very closely with the traditional colour scheme of the Striking Scorpion aspect temple, which is really cool and very striking. Yet you've still made it your own by only doing the raised plates green, which helps the model tie in with the Fire Dragons in your army, only having the raised bits orange. Finally the highlighting is done really really well.

Cheers, Cal

DarthIbis - April 15, 2008 12:34 PM (GMT)
Definitely the best yet.
