Title: Warlock as Unit Sergeant
Kaanaelis - December 5, 2007 03:50 PM (GMT)
I witnessed my first paradox with the new Eldar rules recently. A Warlock in a unit of Wraithguard was the only thing left standing after a mass firefight. My dilemma is does the Warlock count as part of the unit even if he is the only one alive, (thus gaining Fearless). Or does he act like an IC and only have Fearless if there were any other members still alive.
I said it was the later since in the unit description it says to use the Warlock's HQ entry for his rules and options. In his HQ entry he doesnt have Fearless listed, but he also doesnt have IC listed as well. So that counters the later rule a little.
Suggestions, insights, anything will be helpful.

The Warlock isn't fearless, nor is he an independent character. I'd say he counts as any other singular survivor from another squad that has been shot to pieces. ie: can't join other units, must take 'Last man standing' tests, etc.

Same rules as when you attach to 1 to a guardian unit. So he is part of the unit. He becomes fearless because the Wraithguard are.

its a bit of a grey area really ( gee a grey area in 40k ) but id have to say that because he is/was part of the unit, and that unit confers fearless, he would still be fearless as it would still be counted as a unit of wraithguard as such.

The warlock would not be fearless if all the wraithguard died. The only reason he is fearless is because any character joining the wraithguard become fearless. If there are no wraithguard then they cant confer fearless.
This is just the way that I play it with my guard, I very possibly could be wrong.
