Title: Whitsunday's tournament
Description: Kabal of the Venomed Fang (2000pts)

darthken - December 1, 2007 05:20 PM (GMT)
Well im now preparing for another tournament for my Kabal, this time down at the Whitsunday's, Proserpine to be exact.
And again its going to be 2000pts. which IMHO is to big for a tournament.
Ive made a few changes to my usual list but due to work commitments i wont be able to play test till the new year.

Zak'n'etals Kabal of the Venomed Fang.

Archon Zak'n'etal on his jet bike
agoniser, tormentor helm, combat drugs, animus vitae, xenospasm.

Drachon Duk'tak
splinter pistol, agoniser, combat drugs
5 incubi, mounted in a raider.

10warriors 2 dark lances

Ravager, 3 disintegrators,
Ravager, 3 disintegrators,
Ravager, 3 disintegrators,

Total points 1981

Tactics will remain NEARLY the same. On one flank i will deploy all the bike squads, on the other flank the two raider squads and Duk'tak with his retinue of Incubi. In the centre will be the 3 sniper squads, 3 ravager's

So the plan is to have both flanks move foward as far and fast as possible.

the sniper squads and ravagers will sit centrally and hopefully concentrate their fire power on the enemy centre.

I have also dropped my wyches from this list as they just have not been cost effective and for the 1st time in about 3 years im going to be using Incubi.

When i get a chance to play test this list ill try to post a battle report or two.

I took this list out for a play test last week end and cleaned up just about everything by turn 5.

My regular opponent, Dave, spent so much time and energy trying to get rid of my bike squads (which have hurt him in the past) and it allowed the small unit changes to my list to do their job.

My archon and Talos combo munched through many assault marines until a stupid force weapon wielding captain cut them down. ( force weapon's bah they should be banned for ever)

My drachon and his retinue of incubi did just as well till they got bogged down in H2H which allowed dave to move his dreadnought into close combat.

All in all an impressive 1st game for my amended Kabal, with the incubi doing more damage in 1 game than my wyches have in the last 3.
But i don't think Dave will be sucked into leaving my incubi alone in our next meeting.

well the tournament is 3 weeks away and i still haven't painted my last 2 incubi or my drachon. ive made a few changes to the list after having a few practise games.

No Wyches?

I don't think his list needs wyches. More importantly, I think it's worked for him without them.

I like the list as is. It's fast and ugly for the opponent to deal with - I'm not to sure I would change anything. Maybe one less sniping squad, but where would you put the points?

Cheers and keep us updated!

i used to run wyches instead of incubi. ( i haven't really used incubi for about 3-4 years)
but in the end they were just not cost effective.
in one tounament they jumped out of the raider, slaughtered 5 swooping hawkes, then next turn 10 elder guardians killed them all.

and the list is every just about every model i own.

well the tounanment over and here are the result's of the Kabal.

Game 1 V's a tyranid horde army
this was the best game in terms of excitement. the game swung back and forwards frequently and we both had ample opportunity to have fun.
It ended in a well fought draw with only a 78 point difference at the end.

Game 2 Vs Dark angels.
this was the best game in terms of winning. he had me on the ropes in the 1st turn with his high movement of his bikes and his terminators deep striking in turn 1. however i fought back beautifully and my troops did everthing right. I killed every enemy model by the end of turn 4. Massacre to me

Game 3 V's vanilla space marines
another hard fought and enjoyable game. which ended with a minor loss to me. My mistake was in the last turn my archon shot and killed on model in a unit, my opponent wisely removed the closest model which meant my archon was now just out of assault range of the unit. If he had been able to assault i could have snatched the draw.

Day 2 Game 4 V's Khorne Chaos SM
the worst game ever. my opponent used the loverly "rubber" ruler for measuring distance. His "special character" was undercoated black in a unit of the same. which i didn't know about till he "appeared" and wiped out a bike squad on his own. His deamons just ignored any difficult terrain tests so long as they got into assault. result- i got massacred

Game 5 V's Tau
this game was perfect...... for the Tau player, very little scenery and the scenery that was their was mostly size 2.
With very little cover and losing the 1st turn my army was shot to bits. my opponents army was not over the top and he was a very friendly player and he did what the Tau do best. He even bought me a drink after the game because he felt so bad about how quickly he destroyed my army. (game was over at the end of his turn 4)

so with the exception of one game the entire weekend was a blast

i also didn't win one roll for deciding who would get the 1st turn

Glad you had fun, sorry to hear that it didn't end so well though.
What exactly does it mean to have a 'rubber ruler?' Is that slang for inaccurate measurements?

darthken - April 1, 2008 05:17 AM (GMT)
yeah rubber ruler is the term i use when my opponent plays really loose with measurments, things like moving the front model the required distance then moving the remainder of the squad further past him

DarthIbis - April 1, 2008 01:42 PM (GMT)
I see... yeah that's just not right.
FH and I were in a discussion about it on eldarweb.
