as always thanks :)
Spacefrisian - November 14, 2007 04:51 PM (GMT)

Spacewolves
darthken - November 15, 2007 08:05 AM (GMT)
yeah that looks similiar to what ive been able to find out spacefrisian.
how typical they have to do "another" SM codex before anything else. now wonder people collect SM's cause the get a new codex every other year. while some off have to wait 5-10 years between drinks.
Calaith - November 15, 2007 10:14 AM (GMT)
Wait, they're re-releasing ANOTHER 4th edition Space Marine codex? WTF!! Its not as if the need a another codex.
darthken - November 15, 2007 11:54 AM (GMT)
that's the rumour ive heard
Because apparently the vanilla SM codex has been superseeded so much by the specific chapter codex's they need another vanilla one.
Bloody pathetic isn't it.
the armies that reallyneed an update (darkelder & necrons) get shafted again.
Spacefrisian - November 15, 2007 03:28 PM (GMT)
Spacewolves also need an update that codex is the oldest now the orcs got 1. And don't say thats another Spacemarines codex cause it aint. (at least we won't be nerfed by combat squads)
darthken - November 15, 2007 03:33 PM (GMT)
yes alot of people have been complaining about the 5 or 10 man combat squads.
My mate plays blood angels and most of his squads were 6 men now he HAS to play the 5 or 10 man squads, not happy.
the space marine codex is just a rumour but quite honestly it wouldn't suprise me in the slightest.

This came from warseer:
RUMORS: 40k 5th Edition News
Rumors brought to the community by Warseer's Shebnar
-Well look here: Some exciting 5th edition rumors. Caveat emptor my friends...
OK, I'm going to post these other rumours appeared on GW Tilea: the source is trustworthy.
- First of all, WH40K V Edition will see the light before summer 2008 (yes you read it right), just after the Codexaemons.
There's not much in the new edition that is going to be radically changed, the things which will be modified for sure are:
1) rules about vehicles
2) damage chart for vehicles (MAYBE we'll have one only chart for glancing and penetrating hits, with modifiers according to the weapon which scored the hit - note that this is an uncertain rumour)
3) rules about psychic powers
4) small variations on HtH combat
the source denied any further explaination.
It has been speculated that the new Starter Box will include SM and Orks (both in plastic).
**********
And THEN?
- Codex: Imperial Guard.
New miniatures are ready, the Codex is still undergoing the brainstorming phase
It is almost certain that the Combat Doctrines will remain in the Codex.
New plastic soldiers with great coats and different heads: we'll have Death Korps of Krieg and Valhallans!!!
Possible new Valkyrie in plastic.
New bits for the Sentinel in order to be able to field all of the four patterns in plastic!
New bits for Rough Riders.
- Dark Eldar.
The entire range is going to be redone with new design.
At the moment they're going to made the first new models!
The rules (according to the source) are NOT going to be much changed, except for some units (the source didn't specify which ones).
- Necrons
We won't see them before the end of 2009!!!
However, the Codex will be redone and will feature new models.
Pariah and Immortals are going to be redone.
Maybe new bipod/vehicle?
- Space Wolves
end 2008 - beginning 2009
The Codex has been planned, but nothing is certain.
MAYBE (uncertain rumour) the SW list will be integrated with the 13th Company's units and rules.
Unfortunately, the Codex:Inquisition is still not in schedule We won't see it for a veeeeery long time...
UPDATE: And this tasty tidbit from the pretty much 100% accurate Brimstone from Warseer:
"Some of this is correct and some is a bit inaccurate.
Vehicle rules are undergoing a pretty big overhaul which some will be quite unhappy about.
There will be one vehicle damage chart with modifiers for glancing/penetrating hits.
Overall most sections are being amended to a degree up to and including missions.
It's a new edition hence a new rulebook IIRC."
darthken - November 15, 2007 03:54 PM (GMT)
bloodyhell a new 40k rule book already, they only just redid the last one not long ago. and they haven't even updated half the codex's for that one yet.
greedy bloody GW
darkmark - November 16, 2007 05:48 PM (GMT)
A new rulebook, my how the time has flown! 2008 would make it 4yrs right? 4yrs is a lot of gaming, and hence time to expose faults, so I don't think GW is being greedy. As I don't have a rulebook yet I guess I'll put off buying one till such time as any further rumours are denied/ confirmed. <_< The current starter box is very poor imo, so a change there would be a good thing.
Calaith - November 17, 2007 12:54 AM (GMT)
A fifth edition displeases me very much! Especially with GWs habit of screwing up the rules lately simply to try and make them look cooler. Sure, the Space Marines and 'Nids and Tau and Black Templars all got really nice new codex's. But the more recent Codex's releases have been horrible, including our beloved Eldar and the poor poor blood angels!

I hope they change sweeping advance, its not funny when 12 men are defeatd and then slaughtered while escaping, it just stinks.
darthken - November 17, 2007 09:28 AM (GMT)
they could at least release codex's for all the armies each time they release a new rule book. They haven't even got through fixing up half the armies from the last one and now they want to bring out another 40k rule book.
They use to release a rule book and then at least have the decency to do ALL the codex's before the redid the main one.
@ spacefrisian LOL i love the new sweeping advance rules, maybe because my beloved DE have very high inititive and can usually be relied on to catch most enemies in a sweeping advance.
