Title: 1000pt Saim-Hann List
Description: Lots o' Bikes!

InquisitorMatticus - October 24, 2007 08:35 AM (GMT)
Hi all, this is my first army list I have posted on this site and i would like to see what the rest of you think. It is based on Saim-Hann and will be painted accordingly, and if I like it i might even go up to 2000pts. Any thoughts are welcome.

HQ - Autarch w/ lance, bike, mandiblaster, and fusion gun - 140

Troop - 6 Guardian Jetbikes w/2 cannons - 152

Fast - 4 Shining Spears w/ Exarch, cannon, lance, withdraw - 197

And that comes out to I believe exactly 1000pts.

The Autarch is the only model that can take down heavily armored tanks, but hopefully I wont be seeing too many landraiders in 1000pts. Hopefully with some cunning moves and terrain i should be able to take on most commers.

Its a good list though I must admit I'm little unsure about it. I don't very much like bikes, and find that they can easily get outnumbered and and find it hard to do a lot of damage. That said I've got relatively little experience with them and not in such numbers. I'll need to hear about some play testing before I can really suggest any changes.

I will say however that if you're looking to expand this list it will be deffinately worth getting some fire support and cc support. Banshees in a Wave Serpent with either some Fire Prisms, Vypers or Reapers.

I'd say play test however before making any changes.

a good fast list for 1000pts even my DE would be hard pressed to keep up.(and thats saying something.)
with it you can out manouvre any opponent, fighting where and when you want.
But as Cal said some fire support to soften your opponent up before the bikes assault will be very usefull.
Maybe a viper or 2 with a bright lance to deal with opponents armour? and also to keep in the Saim-Hann theme.

My DE Kabal is themed around jet bikes (admittidly mine are slightly better than the elder guardian ones) and without fire or infantry support the bikes tend to struggle a bit.
small units high pts cost and not many casualties needed to force a moral check, and on an 8 or even 7 can be disasterous sometimes.
(trust me i know that from bitter experiance)

tbh, the guardians are the fire support, and 2 test games i played (against Marines) the shining spears did amazing in cc. ( the 15 srt6 powerweapons on the charge really help!) The glide move is the key to this lists effectiveness letting me shoot without return fire and hit where and when i need too.

However to take your advice i am seriously thinking of adding some prisms to the list to make it 1500.

Darth dude, thanks for the compliment! I have great respect for our dark kins love of speed. I would love to have a good game with your bike list someday.

And to cal, try the bikes out! They are not the most effective or useful entry in the codex, but they sure are alot of fun!

yes the shining spears would nearly have to be the best jet bikes around ATM.
and combining them with guardian jet bike support just makes them more deadly.
being able to leave combat and charge back again next turn is awsome, especially if your opponent is still pinned in close combat with your guardian squads.

and you didn't find the short range of the shining spear laser lances to resrictive?

and if your went well against smurfs then it should be ok. thats usually what i design my army to take on, seeing as how they have the best of everything (toughnes, armour, high AS vehicles, high leadership etc etc....)

nah, when i need too i can stay 24" back and pop off a few cannon rounds from the exarch that hit on 2's. I generally have the opponent comming to me so i can pop in kill a squad or two and jet off. I might loose a guardian squad but thats not too bad.

ok then so no problems their.
with your list the smurf army would have looked sooo slow.
i personally love playing marines with my DE.
For some reason i find them realativly easy to deal with.

Hmm, you said your cabal was themed around jetbikes darthken. Why dont you post it? I would like to see what you did with your (better) jetbikes?

look in the 'Commorragh' section under the 'Kabal of the venomed fang" Pictures and tactics are there for the whole army.

or look under the 'Mackay Tournament' section their for my revised 2000pt list.

LOL yes my standard bikes are WS4 S4 I6 with combat drugs for the whole squad. and can take two tank killing blasters. all for the bargain price of only 2pts more a model than the elder guardian jet bikes.
