whcih would be esiar to do, eldar fleet or dark eldar?
Never played with Dark Eldar, but have had a little bit of experience with playing the Eldar fleet, both piratical and Craftworld. Let me tell you they ain't easy to use at all! Granted they get a 2+ save from all lance weaponry, and weapons batteries suffer a column shift. But the ships are far to fragile for their own good, and get smashed apart really easily once they're hit. Not only that, but if all your ships are close together and one explodes it can take out half of the rest of your fleet.
Their tactics are really difficult to get the hang of. You need to use your extra move really well to either move out of gun fire or into a difficult arc for your opponent to fire at you from. Additionally, never EVER vs. the Necrons if you want to win.
Not exactly selling them am I? They're incredably fun to play with once you get the hang of them, which I never trully did. I don't imagine the Dark Eldar to be too different from the Pirate fleet, but I could be wrong. I don't think the Dark Eldar have as many vessels as the Pirate fleet does though.

ive just downloade the rules for BFG and a mate of mine is interested in playing so i might just have to see how it goes.
Im going to hopefully go with a darkelder fleet (no suprise there) it's a pity the work printer wont print stuff in colour. ;)
go with your heart beil-tarun thats the best way
btw, whats a column shift. does it refer to the gunnery table?
Short answer - yes, a column shift is when you shift either left or right on the gunnery table due to some circumstances surrounding the shot (like firing through a blast marker, firing at a close by or distant target, etc), and the result after all column shifts is how many shots you may take from that weapons battery.
