aheon - July 31, 2007 08:44 AM (GMT)
hi guys, just wanted to check out something that my friend said you caouldn't do.
i got bladestorm with d avengers and used it in turn 1.
turn 2 i can't shoot because of reloading right!. but i can fleet instead. he said that i can't do that because bladestorm don't let you shoot in the next turn and fleet is instead of shooting, which i can't do because of bladestorm.
just wanted to get other peoples views.

you can actually do fleet of foot since it just happens in the shooting phase.
imagine a unit of something that canīt shoot (a bit unlikely but still...) and has the ability to fleet. what would they do???

I was under the impression that DAs could fleet the next turn. I don't remember seeing anything to contradict this, but it does sound like a typical GW rules loophole.

They can deffinately fleet, no argument about it. The player was trying to talk himself into gaining a quick advantage.
Fleet of foot is done in the shooting phase, totally independent of shooting. You can't fleet and shoot in the same turn, but fleeting isn't necessarily done instead of shooting.
If you're playing a very stringent RAW player, tell me if he plays Necrons. I have a nice little tactic that may teach him a lesson ;)

he used to play necrons, but now he plays nids.
his main aurgument was the fact that using bladestorm used up your shooting in the next turn and therfore you can't fleet because it's instead of shooting.
but i'm with you calaith that you can fleet. but does it say in the rulebook that it's instead of shooting or that you just can't do both in the same turn.
either way he let it pass but says it's silly.
cheers guys.

A quote from the Rule Book Universal Special Rules.
| QUOTE |
| In a turn in which models with this rule do not shoot or use a psuchic power that replaces shooting, they can move an additional D6" in the shooting phase. |
Where in that paragraph does it say Fleet replaces shooting? In fact this phrase supports bladestorm and then fleet. It says in a turn that the unit does not shoot they may fleet, and the unit won't be fleeting the turn after they've blade storm.
Checkmate!
