Title: Daemon Slayers of Hades Pass - Battle Reports
Description: A continuous thread

Calaith - July 26, 2007 12:08 AM (GMT)
Note: There is a lot of fluff in this post, more than I had origionally intended. But when I get started on an idea I can find it hard to stop...anyway, the actual Battle Report is just under these few paragraphs of fluff. You can skip them if you wish, though I wouldn't mind some feed back actually. ;)

Here is a link to the army list I used for this game. All discussions about how the list faired in the battle, queries about it, and advice on improving it should probably go here. Any discussion about the battle itself or the fluff should go here. And though the primary purpose of this thread it to report battles to reflect on the list I posted up in the link above, if the mods desperately feel it needs to be moved to the fluff section of the board, do so.

The story so far...

Olympus, once considered the world of the gods. Here, many hundreds of years ago, the Space Marine "Pegasus" Chapter, descendants from the Imperial Fists themselves, once ruled as loyal servants to the Emperor. The system in which Olympus orbits was considered the realm of this once powerful chapter, and here they served their Emperor dutifully and resolute. This system once stood as a firm strong hold against the powers of Chaos who resided not far off in their maddening world that is still the Eye of Terror, and eight black crusades did it withstand, thus foiling the speed with which the Despoiler's forces attempted to advance. But on the ninth time that the traitor fleets of Chaos spilled forth into the galaxy of man once more, Abaddon was more determined than ever to see the destruction of Olympus and the other fortress worlds that surrounded it. The Despoiler sent a larger portion of his armada than ever before against the brave defenders of that realm, and despite the efforts of many Space Marine Chapters, including Pegasus Chapter themselves, Olympus eventually did fall. Besieged from all sides the Pegasus fought on the very steps of their fortress monastery to the last man, but ultimately this world, this entire system, now belonged to the forces of Chaos.
At the conclusion of the ninth Black Crusade the forces of the Despoiler were weak however, and forced to limp back to the Eye of Terror once more to regain their strength. Olympus, as far as any man within the Imperium knew, was one of the system's left behind by the retreating Chaos fleets. Ravaged and desolate, and untraveled since the fall of the Pegasus Chapter, the system slowly faded out of memory and into the darkness of history. However there those within the Imperium who were unwilling to simply leave what had been such a valuable asset, to rot away in the void of space. Neighbouring systems feared for their protection, when once the Pegasus Chapter came to their aid. And so it was decided that the High Lords of Terra implored the Black Templars to set out on a crusade to recapture whatever was left of Olympus, and bring it once more into the light of the Emperor.
When the Black Templars arrived, lead by the demanding Chaplain Octavius, they found a world that lie utterly in ruin. Not a building over two stories high still stood in Olympus' once grand cities, and the location of what had once been the Fortress Monastery of the Pegasus Chapter could only be guessed at. But the Black Templars found no real foe for over six months to contend with, and so quickly they began building small fortresses and strong holds that would hold in case of an attack. And an attack did come, from a traitor fleet almost double in size to the fleet the Black Templars themselves had brought. Immediately the forces of Chaos, the vile servants of the Great Unclean One, fell upon the planet's surface and joined battle with the Black Templars. The valiant Space Marines made at once to leave the planet's surface, and to return only when they had an army capable of fighting the inevitable onslaught of infectious mutants and the spread of disease. Many Space Marines were left behind as a rearguard to the evacuation of the majority of the Black Templars forces, though they expected only to last a week at most against the odds that were built against them. But infact they still stand to this day, six whole months after their brother's left them with only the vow of their return.
The bulk of Chaos forces remained unengaged as they sowed their fields of death across the planet's surface. This caused confusion amongst the Black Templars. Many times had the enemies of the Space Marines sent only a small force of men to test the strength of the defences raised against them, but surely by now the Chaos servants were aware that the forces of the Black Templars were only small and would be easily swept aside.
The truth of the matter was that the servants of Chaos feared an attack from Hades Pass. This once grand fortress that looked down from the mountains at us from the south east would have been even now near impossible to impregnate while soldiers stood on its walls. It was also the perfect vantage point from where to stage an attack into the expanse of the lower plains where the Black Templars, and indeed the larger bulk of the Chaos armies, were entrenched. What's more, there were rumours that secret tunnels leading from Hades Pass found their way to the surface from miles around the fortress. No one seemed to know how big these tunnels were, or if they were capable of mobilizing entire armies through. But were a force big enough to hold Hades Pass, it would surely hold power to strike at any enemy that assaulted it, from any direction it liked. The servants of Chaos feared Hades Pass for what might come out of there, and they would not risk exposing the rear of their forces to that place when they attacked the Black Templars. And so in the shadow of Hades Pass the Space Marines remained safe, unnervingly oblivious of who or what exactly is protecting them from utter oblivion...

Game 1 - The shadows in Hades Pass

Overview - Though it has taken some time, the leaders of the Death Guard have finally decided to attack Hades Pass. The strength of the enemy is unknown to the servants of the Great Unclean One however, and so only a small band of warriors has been sent to test the defences Hades Pass, and the response of those who occupy its shattered husk.

- This game is simply a Seek and Destroy mission, with players gaining Victory points for destroying their enemy.

Turn 1

Over a hundred Eldar minds awoke the to sickening presence of enemy soldiers, and they knew at once that their performance was at hand. They looked to their leader, the Farseer, who shone from amongst his warriors like a beacon in times of darkness. Flashes of the enemy swept through every Eldar's mind from their Farseer, and silently he issued orders to his black clad warriors. But they already knew what must be done, the Falcons already gliding silently towards those who dared oppose the Eldar.

Lord Rotix commanded his unclean soldiers into the shadows of cover, lest the prying eyes of their enemies spot their position too early. He knew the Eldar would be aware of him, they were not to be underestimated. But he was still hoping to conceal the bulk of his force, his personal bodyguard of two Plague Marine units throwing themselves against the outer walls of the fortress to hide from enemy fire. However Lord Rotix knew that the daemon locked within the hull of his blessed Predator would not happily resort to such stealth like tactics. It demanded the blood sacrifice of its enemies, and the walls of the fortress were already echoing with the roar of the daemon that drowned out even the sounds of its powerful engines. It powered through a gap in the walls, sensing the hot blood of the Eldar amongst single ruined building less than a hundred yards away. The Predator's Lascannon lit up the shadows around it for an instant, but failed to strike anything by rock. It was instead the roar of the heavy bolters that spelt the end for one Eldar life.
Sensing the loss of life, the ravenous possessed followed after the Predator, but kept to the cover of the outer wall as commanded by their Lord. From amongst the ruin next to the wall however rose a single broken rock that shot towards the sky like a pike, and speared one of the possessed as the winged creatures swept down into the shadows.

Turn 2

'Hunt them down, destroy them!' This psychic cry echoed through the minds of every Eldar that stood to the defence of Hades Pass. Despite the fact that the Farseer stood beside the sinister Dark Reapers, their exarch failed to pin point a single enemy with his Tempest Launcher on the outer side of the forts broken defences. An Eldar Falcon swept over the walls though and down upon the Possessed Chaos Space Marines like a bird of prey. Its impressive arsenal opened fire on the unclean soldiers where they hid, and not even the concealing shadows could save two from among them being vapourised in molten plasma.

In a rage the possessed leaped through the air at the Falcon, a dazzling beam of las cutting apart the air below them but missing the Falcon completely. And so the Possessed fell down upon the wings of their prey, their leader striking the sleek metal of the Eldar tank with his mutated power fist, which was now as much a part of him as any other limb. But though the Falcon rocked heavily it sustained no serious damage from the Unclean Soldiers.
Lord Rotix sensed the danger immediately, he could feel the two transports the Eldar swooping down upon him. He kept his men immobile behind the outer walls for now, preparing them for when they would have to go over and face the damnable Eldar.

Turn 3

The delicate targeting systems of the Eldar Falcon failed to discern any targets after suffering some minimal damage, rendering the vehicle unable to open fire once more on the possessed that surrounded it. Instead the tanks pilot lifted it into the air and manoeuvred it to sit behind the Chaos Predator, the Fire Dragons now disembarking swiftly from its hull as they were trained to do. The almost organic looking rear of the Predator faced them, and so with only a little flash of glee at the prospect of exorcising this tainted machine, the Fire Dragons fired their Fusion Guns at near point blank range. The tank instantly erupted into an inferno of brilliant orange flames and horrifying chaotic energy. Metal and debris was flung in every direction, and a single Fire Dragon was decapitated by one of these flying fragments. Another was engulfed by the hot flames that had burst forth from the tanks ruined hull, and so the Eldar had paid two lives for the exorcism of this tank.

The daemons that were held barely at bay within the skin of the Possessed Chaos Space Marines burst into a rage at the site of their brethren being banished back into the warp. They swooped down upon the Fire Dragons, crying to Grandfather Nurgle as they did for the aid they would require. From the warp slowly marched six Plague Bearers, close enough to the Fire Dragons to spread the infectious diseases that plagued their hides. But the Fire Dragons were unperturbed by the noxious presence of these daemons, as they were forced to contend with the Possessed as they bore down upon them. Two Fire Dragons fell in the violence while the Eldar failed to kill a single possessed in retribution.
Their deaths pleased Lord Rotix, though he knew there were many more who would have to die if he was to succeed.

Turn 4

Towards the sky the pilot drove his Falcon, feeling only slightly lighter now that he had disgorged his cargo to their fate. Taking only a moment to reflect on the lives of his brothers, who he knew now lost because of his deliverance, the pilot then forced his vehicle back into a dive as easily as he might think it, and towards a large group of Unclean warriors who hid behind the outer walls of Hades Pass. Just below him the pilot could see his brother in arms, another Falcon swooping down on the same prey as him. Together both Falcons opened fire on Lord Rotix's body guard, felling only two from among the Plague Marines numbers.
Some distance from the main battle, the Farseer cast his mind into the future and watched the battle unfold a split second before the actual events took place. He instructed the Dark Reaper Exarch to open fire once more, the Exarch guiding the missiles from his Tempest Launcher blindly over the battlement walls as skillfully as he could. But to the Farseers annoyance, he felt only a single Plague Bearer's soul cast back into the depths of the warp where it belonged.
Elsewhere, the two final Fire Dragons lost the battle with the horrors that assaulted them, the Possessed making corpses of their enemies before leaping away and continuing to hunt the Falcon that had brought the Fire Dragons hither.

Rotix eyed both the Falcons before him with a mixture of rage and fear. He knew what these vehicles were capable of, and that it was the will of the Lord of Decay that they be destroyed. He ordered the two squads under his command to open fire on a Falcon each, while he himself followed on of these squads and charged the alien vehicle. But the plasma weaponry of the chaos proved ineffective against the Eldar technology, and to Lord Rotix's disgust one of the weapons overheated and killed the soldier who bore it. And so fuelled by his hate for all things Eldar, the Chaos Lord charged the vehicle and tried to run his Black Sword through the hull of the Falcon. But even Rotix's mighty strength was not enough to punch through the shimmering force fields that protected the Falcon.
Into the rear of the second Falcon the Possessed ran, now crazed by the blood of their victims. Again the mighty Aspiring Champion smashed at the rear armour with his power fist, while his brothers also scratched and lashed the vehicle. But to very little avail, and the Falcon rose and flew away once more with only its crew a little shaken.

Turn 5

Both Falcons rose and retreated from their foes, both flying in opposite directions in the hope that it would split the enemy forces. But Lord Rotix was not so easily tricked. Strafing the Unclean warriors as they fled, the Flacons managed to kill another Plague Marine from Rotix's soldiers, but little else.

Choosing a single target, Rotix ordered his men after the closest Falcon. Though they dared not break cover from fear of the Dark Reapers. A single Plasma pistol was fired at the Falcon, but it was like a pinprick in the side of a great animal. It did the Falcon no harm.

Turn 6

'Their purpose is infirm, they do not wish to enter the fortress,' the Farseer's voice spoke softly in the minds of his warriors. Exorcise those whom you can, but they will not linger here for much longer while we continue to pick apart their forces.'
The second Falcon finally unloaded its cargo, a troupe of black clad warriors birthed within the warp into what they had become. Daemon Slayers they called themselves, those who hated chaos the most because they had felt the most severe effects of it. Their very bodies were a distortion between flesh and warp energy, and they had powers and skills that were super natural even to other Eldar. They spun and darted and leaped at the Unclean warriors, cutting into their ranks and killing two of Rotix's soldiers in return for only a single casualty themselves.
Meanwhile the two Falcons had once more joined together, and hunted down the Possessed Chaos Space Marines as they attempted to move away from the fortress walls. Three Possessed soldiers were gunned down where they stood.
"There!" cried the Exarch of the Dark Reapers, pointing to a small gap in the fortress walls. His followers to quick to sight what he wanted them to, a band of Daemons which were moving past the gap in the wall. The Dark Reapers lost no time in opening fire, Exorcising 3 Plague Bearers is an explosion of plasma.

"Order a retreat!" Lord Rotix demanded of his sergeant.
"Yes, my Lord, at once," the snivelling servant said.
The Daemon Slayers continued to slay the Unclean soldiers, killing another two of the disease ridden mutants just as Rotix himself came to relieve his soldiers of their assailants. a full four Daemon Slayers were killed and the leader of the unit fled. On black wings of night itself he seemed to glide away into the abiss, escaping as Rotix ordered that his men retreat instead of press on. None dared incur the wrath of their Lord, and so as stealthily as they had arrived the servants of Grandfather Nurgle retreated away from Hades Pass.

Conclusion

The battle was a solid victory to the Eldar, the forces of Chaos beaten off with only few casualties to brag about. Though many skilled warriors had fallen their memories would live on within the infinity circuit, and the Eldar had only just flexed the muscle that was their War Host hidden within Hades Pass.
Rotix, now embittered, had barely achieved what he had set out to do. The Eldar forces had been tested, but not challenged. He still had little idea of the size of the Eldar forces, whether they were only few more than enough to defeat the Unclean warriors at that conflict, or perhaps an entire war host lay hidden behind the defences of Hades pass. And the casualties that had been suffered did not warant what little information Rotix had gleaned.

Calaith - July 26, 2007 12:09 AM (GMT)
The story continues...

'Things are not as they appear, shadows cloud everything upon this world. There is a presence here that is different from anything I've felt in a long time, a darkness that chokes everything around it, shatters men's courage and casts our names to the wind. I feel the creeping decay of the vile ones, whom we have come to destroy. But this...this is different' - Farseer Ethandel Iyaarl

The Black Templars heard the sounds of battle echo from atop Hades Pass, though they never saw any signs of the Chaos mobilizing in great force against the mighty stronghold. Unsure of what had transpired, they could only guess. A small army of the Unclean warriors would have been able to move up the mountainside unseen easily enough, and perhaps assault the fortress in small numbers to test the defences as the Death Guard had done to the Black Templars. But the battle had been three days ago now, and since then Hades Pass has laid in silence. Yet the Death Guard make no effort to advance upon the mountain side fortress a second time in greater force, and still they dare not come near the Black Templars as though they fear they outnumbered a hundred to one. Mystery shrouds everything, and still the Black Templars await their imminent doom.

Game 2 - Danger on all sides

Overview - The servants of Chaos have been defeated for the moment and fled, yet another danger presents itself to the Eldar. As if out of the fortress of Hades Pass itself the unstoppable Necrons have risen, and begun to harvest the Eldar who have fortified themselves within the inner sanctums of the structure. Farseer Ethandel has led a small force against the Necrons to capture one of the gates into these inner sanctums, and block the Necrons from entering by activating a warp stone in the middle of the gate.

- This game is a Take and Hold mission, where the winner is decided upon who has the most units within 6" of the centre of the table (the gate) where the warp stone is set.

Turn 1

In what had once been a mon-keigh grave site the Dark Reapers stood, the dirt crushed under their heavy boots, and their sinister eyes locked onto the break in the fortress wall before them. To their right stood a unit of Dire Avengers, positioned also to look over the gate from a distance, while to the Reapers left stood the Farseer himself surrounded by a Dire Avenger body guard.
'Aim for the shadows where these monsters lurk,' the Farseer instructed, and then darted away into the ruin to the left of the gate.
Two Falcons glided silently above their kins head, unseen until they lighted up the light sky with their powerful weapon mounts. Their scanners indicated to them that a single Necron warrior fell to their torrent of molten energy, never to rise again.

'I am death itself, and none shall oppose me!'
This order registered in the minds of the Necrons assembled in the darkness of a ruined building, their lifeless eyes glowing a cold green as they began their slow advance through the rock and rubble towards the fortress gates. The aptly named Destroyers rose however above the walls and gazed out upon the hated life forms that darted forward in an attempt to halt the advance of the night bringers. Their glowing eyes cut through the darkness and shadows, and they spotted amongst the graves of long dead humans a unit of Eldar who registered in their minds as the biggest threat. Simultaneously four powerful beams of green lightning burst forth from the darkness and tore apart two of the Eldar where they stood, the screams of the Dark Reapers echoing throughout the fortress as an omen to all.
Silently and swiftly as the cutting scythe, the leader of these nightmares snaked its way through the ruins as if nothing stood in its way. Through solid rock and twisted metal it passed as easily as it did air, its long segmented and twisting spine trailing in the air behind it. It was surrounded by dozens of tiny metal insects that crawled through the rubble like a plague. Their beetle like forms clustered together and yet they moved so smoothly as one, it seemed that a black silken cloth was being dragged across the ground by an invisible hand at the whim of the Necron Lord who moved among them. Towards the Eldar vehicles they moved quickly, the Lord intent on embedding its deadly scythe within the hull of the tanks.

Turn 2

"Lex talionis," the Dark Reaper Exarch said darkly to his brethren, turning his attention immediately to the Destroyers who hovered above the defences of the fortress. His followers opened fire at his whim, and indeed his own weapon roared in rage at the deaths of his brothers and the excruciating way they were murdered. Two of the Destroyers felt the vengeance of the Eldar, ones shattered body falling onto the wall below while the other was almost entirely obliterated.
The Falcons elsewhere registered the threat to them, the energy given off by the advancing Lord and his parade of scarabs lighting up their scanners. Both the vehicles rose into the air to dart away, but changed direction to fire at the scarabs and their master who now occupied and small ruined watchtower. The bright weapons of the tanks tore at the stone around the scarabs and vaporised their tiny bodies. Almost all were exterminated save a few, and the Necron 'Wraith' Lord itself was unharmed as the plasma passed harmlessly through the deadly apparition.

'Rise, death can not stop you now.'
Metal ran like liquid, seeping over itself slowly into the damaged areas that had only moments ago been smashed apart by impacting plasma missiles. From the top of the fortress wall the destroyer rose, hovering in the air with its kin while its body continued to repair itself back to perfection. Nothing could stop these creatures it seemed, if, even after a volley from the fearsome Dark Reapers, they were still not defeated.
The Necron Wraith Lord cried out in rage at the destruction of his small helpers, though who would aid him in chewing through the ranks of the accursed living. But he would not despair yet, he would have his vengeance. Silently, stealthily, the Necron Lord withdrew into the darkness to another place. 'Destroy their technology, kill their living pilots,' were the new orders the Lord gave it flock.
The unstoppable Immortals advanced further towards the open gate, lead by their Lord who walked with them on foot. A large unit of ten warriors followed in the wake of the Immortals, while another unit hid amongst the shadows of a large ruin further from the gate. As per their masters order, the Immortals, Warriors, and the deadly Destroyers all turned their attention to the Eldar Falcon that hovered above the battlements. All at once these units opened fire, the the green electricity of their weapons arching towards the tank and enveloping it in a blinding aura of green light. The air crackled with the deafening sound of the weapons fire. Small explosions began upon the Falcon. But when the gauss weapons stopped firing, and the air became free of that burning energy, the Eldar Falcon still flew proudly over the battlements, its Holo-Field protecting it from the worst of the damage.
"Report," the pilot demanded from his copilot.
"All weapon systems down, nothing works," the copilot replied. "We're defencless."
"We've still got a delivery to make," the pilot said with grim determination.

Turn 3

The Farseer and his body guard now stood in the very shadow of the fortress walls, hidden for the moment from the army of dead who advanced only metres away. The Dark Reapers meanwhile opened fire over the heads of the Avengers in front of them, aiming once more for the destroyers who still hovered above the fortress walls. Only one fell to this deadly volley.
Pulling safely back behind the cover of the fortress wall away from enemy guns, both Falcons prepared themselves to unload their deadly cargo on the Necron forces. Perhaps they would be able to slow their advance.

Once again the damaged destroyer rose into the air to rejoin the others of its kind. Together they laughed silently at the piteous attempts by the weak, fleshy living to destroy the indestructible machine of their bodies. And then they opened fire upon the Dark Reapers in the graveyard, who were all destroyed in a flash of green lightning.
Into the fortress gates the Necrons advanced, their goal of capturing this battlement within the fortress coming slowly into fruition.

Turn 4

The Farseer could feel hope slipping from him, fear rising in his chest as he watched the Necrons enter the gap in the fortress walls with his minds eye. Glancing into the future he cast a power of guidance upon the Avengers that guarded him, while upon the heads of the Immortals who drew ever closer he cast Doom. They had to be destroyed! Then, with an undying devotion to destroying these horrid creatures, the Farseer ordered his bodyguard forward towards the Necron soldiers.
The Flacon moved towards the gate, one coming right into the breech to let out its cargo. Sadly this was the very same Falcon that had no functioning weapons systems, and so the support the pilot could give to his kin was limited. Out from the troop carrier leaped six Fire Dragons however, their brazen weapons levelled and ready to fire. The hot melta beams of their weapons burned into the chests of towering Immortals in front of them, topling four of the six nightmares, who fell into the dirt as their metal hides turned to liquid. Sadly the Dire Avengers of the Farseer could not summon such strength of arms, and so no Immortals fell to their weapons.
The second Falcon, guns blazing, cut down two Destroyers from atop the fortress wall. The pilot made a silent prayer that they would not rise again.
Elsewhere, the Dire Avengers who had been left behind in the graveyard felt cold suddenly. They had dared not move from where they had been ordered to stay, and they feared the fate of the Dark Reapers. But the feeling they had now called for action, a dark presence was afoot. Moving forward from their graveyard they founded the worst of their fears, the Wraith Lord itself waiting for them behind a stone crypt. The Exarch ordered that his followers open fire immediately, a storm of shuriken spitting forth from their weapons and hailing down upon the Wraith Lord and his remaining scarabs. All scarabs were destroyed, the Necron Wraith Lord himself taking severe damage, but not enough to destroy him utterly. The Avengers knew their doom was at hand.

From the grave these monsters rose again, unstoppable and utterly immortal. The two Destroyers that had suffered grievous damage from the Falcon both reknit their dark metal bodies to once more take to the skies, while 3 Immortals rose once again to their feet in spite of the Fire Dragons best efforts to put them down.
Despair rang in the chambers of the Dire Dragon Exarch's heart as he watched his followers cut down by the green fire of the Immortals. Only he survived, his armour guarding his flesh and bones, but it could not guard his courage. Abandoning all hope he fled from the Immortals, from the Necrons, from death itself as it seemed to close in around him. There was no hope for his people now, he had seen his brothers die at the hands of these unstoppable fiends. Despair was all that was left.
From the Necron Warriors came the green fire also, enveloping and destroying two brave warriors from the Farseers body guard. And from atop the fortress walls the destroyers fired their death rays, impacting on the still fully functional Falcon a shaking its equipment. But they could do no sustaining damage to the Eldar technology, they were not as strong as that!
Meanwhile, the Dire Avengers newly emerged from the graveyard were assaulted by their ultimate doom. The Necron Wraith Lord swept down upon them, its ghastly form moving through them and into the ground below them, before emerging again behind them and flying at them once more. Confusion and fear swept through the Dire Avengers, and they fired their weapons at point blank in every direction in the hope of hitting the Wraith Lord. But even those shots that might have caused damage did not, and past through the Lords body like it was made of air, no more than a deadly ghost. The Lord swept through two Dire Avengers who stood near each other, and while its segmented tail was still in their chests it became solid again. The Eldar felt themselves cruelly impaled upon the creatures tail, and they felt death upon them. Then in one final inglorious finale to their lives the whip cords at the end of the Lords tail also came through them and ripped them to bloody pieces. A third Avenger fell to the Lord's deadly scythe, which it used to cut the Eldar's body cleanly from his legs.

Turn 5

Out from the rear of the second Falcon the black forms of the Daemon Slayers swept, and over the ruin as fast as a breath of wind as if their feet did not even touch the ground. In front of the Daemon Slayers stood the Immortals, and even as these supernatural creatures advanced on their prey they watched as one fell under the hail of fire from the Dire Avengers guarding the Farseer, and another was incinerated by the weapon of the Fire Dragon Exarch even as he fled. And then into the frey the Daemon Slayers leaped, cutting apart the Necrons with their mighty warp forged weapons. One died instantly as his body was destroyed on the warp blade of one of the Slayers, while the other two were destroyed by the spear of Marius himself. Never again would these creatures rise on this battlefield, and so the Daemonslayers turned their attention to the leader of this flock, the Necron Lord who still stood.
The Wraith Lord on the other side of the battlefield shared the fate of its servants. As it arched its spine to swoop down once more upon the Dire Avengers, it made it form solid just before slicing at one of the weak fleshy creatures. But just as it did so a shuriken shot forth from the end of one of the Eldar's rifles, and cut into the spinal cord of the Lord cutting vital wires. Immediately the Lord's entire body dropped from the air and collapsed to the ground amongst the rubble. There its coils lay in a heap like the corpse of a great serpent, and venerated for only a moment, the Dire Avengers turned to run towards the fortress gates where the true battle was taking place.

Fill the breach, make them drown in your numbers!
From the ground the long spine of the Necron Wraith Lord rose, its eyeless sockets once again glowing with the green fires of lifeless rage. Reared its hideous form into the air, looking down as those who had only just felled it moved away towards the breach. But it no longer cared for them, their lives would be harvested before long, it was inevitable. The Wraith Lord ignored them altogether, and instead glided silently over their heads and towards the gate of the fortress walls. It saw the fleeing life form of the Fire Dragon Exarch, and so maliciously, mercilessly the Wraith Lord cut the Eldar down with its scythe as it flew over head.
Into the breach the Necron warriors moved, filling it almost entirely with the immovable shadow of death. From above the green beams of the Destroyers rained hell down upon the Farseers bodyguard, killing them all in a graphic display of violence and gore. The Warriors, seeing the Farseer now unguarded, seized their opportunity and fired at the robed Eldar. They heard his screams fill the fortress gates, and when the green energy once again abated not even a corpse was left as proof of the Farseers demise.
In the heat of combat only metres away the Daemon Slayers fought tirelessly to slay the Lord of the Necrons, but their efforts were almost in vain. Although their mighty weapons did damage to the metal body of the Lord, a life of their own was needed as payment for this small crime against the Lord of death.

Turn 6

The battle within the breach continued, the Eldar fighting desperately to hold this position against the Necrons. But ultimately they were doomed to fail. Another Daemon Slayer was cut down by the staff of the fearsome Necron Lord, while these mighty warriors caused yet more damage to this things near impenetrable hide. But still the Lord was not beaten, still it fought on like a machine that was fueled by the blood of its victims.
The Falcons returned, swooping down upon the breach in an attempt to hold it. The weapons from the functional Falcon blasted apart a single Destroyer, but it meant nothing, for that same Destroyer rose yet again, the grave throwing back this daemon as if even the damned in hell could not stand its presence.

The Necrons all opened fire on the Falcons as they flew down into the breach, but nothing came of their attempts to slow the vehicles down or destroy them. The Eldar force fields once again deflecting the worst of the possible damage. But still the presence of the Falcons did not matter, they could not hold the breach against the Necrons, and their task had become clear.
Spotting the Daemon Slayers sparring with the Wraith Lords very brother, the immortal daemon slid through the air and down upon the Eldar warriors. It raised its mighty scythe and made to destroy the remaining Eldar with its brother by its side, but that dream was not realised. Marius, leader of the Daemon Slayers, saw this danger coming and hurled his mighty spear through the air. The weapon sliced into the Necron Wraith Lord's chest, the warp energy of the blade reacting against the living metal of the Lord's body, and causing this creature to explode utterly in a brilliant display of bright red sparks. But Marius knew this battle was lost, and so calling his men to him he signalled the retreat and all Eldar came from that place. The fortress gates had fallen to the Necrons, and these creatures now had access to the inner sanctuary of Hades Pass.

Conclusion

The Falcons skimmed as close to the ground as they dared, picking up the surviving Eldar from this place and fleeing to back to where they might temporarily find haven. The Farseer was nowhere to be seen, but still a voice spoke within the minds of the Eldar as they came away from the lost fortress gates. 'We have failed to shut the door against our enemies, and now we are besieged on both sides,' this voice spoke. 'Now is a desperate time. The hunt for our people within Hades Pass has begun, and if ever the servants of Chaos learn of our peril they will surely move to destroy us. Swiftly we must move to cleanse this place of our ancient foes, the Necrons, if we are to keep the upper hand in this war. If we fail in this, into the warp we must flee with our task on this world incomplete, and our enemies laughing at our backs as their wicked designs unfold against us!'

Necron Solid Victory.
