Title: wraithlord loadouts
Morning Fresh - March 28, 2007 01:55 AM (GMT)
Greetings fellow walkers of the webway,
I am in the process of finalising the weapons for my wraithlords. I weakened and got myself two of the plastic guys. I've got three metals in my embarrassingly large army. Anyway I would like to ask you what you would arm them with as I tend to glue my choices and stick (hahaha! I made a funny!) to them, unlike those tricksy Tau and their micro magnet swapability. I am thinking twin linked bright lance and two flamers, for one. This guy is going to be a display piece (I'm gonna try golden daemon standard, wish me luck!) and the other is gonna be clint eastwood with a poncho, 'cos I'm using bits from both kits on my display piece. He's gonna have a hand held scatter laser (make my day, punk!) and shuriken catapults.
I'm hoping that this can be stuck on a thread that I'm too lazy to find if this subject has come up before (I'm sure it would have)
So what do your wraithlord wear to the party that is the battlefield of the 41st century??

I have 3 wraithlords all new plastic ones
no 1 has flamers, should BL and sword he tank busts and runs in vs hordes twin flamers rock and the twin shuri cats are rarely as good remember you can only fire 2 weapons on a WL not all
no2 has scatter laster on shoulder and star cannon inn hand plus flamers both big weapons are on the same side of the model for a james bond look and allow me to use a building edge as cover and fire both big guns
no3 is my tank hunter , with missle and BL on shoulders and twin cats in a pose much like a tau broad side but of course cooler

I don't use walkers in my Eldar army, but I think the best config would be the BL/EML setup with twin flamers. This bad boy can take all comers and should never be without a target. There are so many opportunities to take Str6 weaponry in masses that it would seem a waste to fit this guy out with anything other than real tankbusting weaponry. But, in a somewhat real sense, the Wraithlord is (IMHO) the one true all-purpose unit in the game. Assaulting infantry is usually a good idea with this guy, especially after unleashing twin flamers on the unit to be assaulted.
Just my opinion.

My own very incomplete converted metal Wraith Lord is armed with a Bright Lance (which replaces an arm titan style) and a Star Cannon that rests on his shoulder. This allows him to take down infantry as effectively as the old Star Cannon could, softening small squads of Space Marines and Plague Bearers before a charge. But he is also tooled up for handling tanks as well. Not the CC specialist, but he rarely sees it. He holds back and fires like crazy, and either protects the Reapers from assault or boosters a banshee charge if he's in range. Or simply acts as a fire magnet to take pressure away from my tanks.

I haven't used a Wraithlord yet, but I'll probably do the "tricksy magnetic" thingy, at least with the shoulder weapon.
I'll probably have the same combos as hardrainfalling.
- Tank Hunting - BL/EML/Flamers
- Infantry Killing - SL/ShCan/Flamers
Now my question is, for the old metallic models, where does the 2nd weapon go? First one goes on the shoulder, but unlike the new plastic ones, there isn't a place to put the second one...
Maybe I need to use magnets and put it on the other shoulder? B)

Like I said above my Lance is attached 'Titan style', replacing the left forarm. Alternatively you could place it on the bottom of the forarm replacing the shuriken catapult and or flamer, or if you good with metal try and have him holding the weapon like a rifle.

Cool Cal. I might try to attach it with magnets on his right shoulder or right army like you said...
