Description: A tough victory
Hardrainfalling - March 8, 2007 03:02 PM (GMT)
okay a hard won victory but a great game
heavy urban terrian
my forces
10 wraithguard spirit seer, enhance
10 wraithguard spirit seer , enhance
wraithlord , starcannon, scatter cannon
wraithlord , sword, Brightlance
Wraithlord, BL, missile
Farseer , runes of witnessing, mind war and E storm
Prince Yriel
enemy
roughly 6 homoculi tooled up
x2 wych units, with nets on skimmer transports
x2 warrior units
x2 skimmer tanks
x4 hellions
a unit of warp beasts
a unit of splitter cannon scourgaes
I deployed with 2 WL on the top floor of buildigns , one at side ,
prince and 1 wraithguard unit in a ruined building
farseer and othe WG unit in intact building
he deployed superbly his skimmers just out of range of 2 of thw wraithlords due to a cloaking system, but round 1 i nailed a transport and half the troops died and the rest fled
He then attacked with the bulk of his forces on one of my flanks and the homocul running from building to building infront of the farseers building
the group of wraithguards in rubble then got assualted by 2 groups of wytches , some warp beasts and eventually the homoculi
highlights including a WL stepping out and flaming most of a wych unit
the farseer blasting some homoculi with eldrich storm while they were in a building ! and later torching a wych unit , a homucli and a fleeiing hellion
low points Prince Yriel charging 2 homoculi only to have them go first due to combat drugs and cut him down before he could even get an attack in
the assualted WG unit held all game eventually driivng off a wych unit , killing the warp beast unit unit and several homoculi and still having 3 wg and the warlock alive
the farseers unit lost 1 wg when the hellions charged but cut them down and made them flee so in the end i won on points by about 300
lessons learned
prince yriel is fragile when facing multi attack foes
cover saves for WL make them mega tough
farseer with storm and mind war in cover really rocks
WG are a very very tough unit and have massive staying power in cc

I'd say good win... but you beat my guys.
 Nah, hard fought wins are some of the sweetest.
Sounds like it was a good game. ;)

You can have 6 Haemonculi?!
TheEagle82 - March 8, 2007 11:04 PM (GMT)
1-3 is a HQ... times 2 HQ choices...
:D
Hammey's are awesome!

Son of a b***h..
I just use Urien..the Master Haemonculus.
TheEagle82 - March 10, 2007 09:43 AM (GMT)
Well, Urien counts as 1 HQ. But you can still take 3 more. Thats the way my list is set up. :D

Not only that, but I asked in a Yahoo group which is devoted to Dark Eldar to clarify the HQ description in the codex on pg. 6. I was told that you can take an Archon along with his Dracon and each can have thier retinue of Incubi since they are both Lords. Only one is a commander but they can both have retinue, I'm told. These guys have been playing DE since before the first ed codex came out so I take them as being authoritative. Can you imagine 2 units of Incubi? Point heavy but, WOW!

We don't talk about that here.

That is too much domination!

Imagine the Farseer with Eldritch storm and Doom? ;)
Sounds like it was a good game. I've found the same with Yriel, that he has a habbit of getting killed A: By high initiative oponents like Wraiths, or B: High strength units that cause instant death...like Wraiths...and Chaos Lords. The trick if he is outnumbered is to use the Eye of Wrath thingy. An awesome power against masses of enemies.
One thing I might also suggest is to be careful when choosing Eldritch storm as your Seers power. Do not bother with it if you are facing Chaos, Necrons or SM, believe me I've tried. Even with doom it does very little. However against Guard, Orks, DE and even Tau it can rock, especially with Doom!
