Title: large scale 40k tactical campaign

righteo i am currently in my free time helping my friends back home devise a new way to play 40k. what it involves is a large printed out map divided into sections (we have a photo of each section and an abundance of building terrain. what they plan to do is use small markers to represent units and place them on a map unseen by the opponent (this case on a computer) and then send them to me and i work out LOS and what not so it adds the element of surprise to the game. we plan to do this with just 2 large maps to speed things up but for now with me interstate its harder =P if anyone has any ideas on how to make this work please post ahead.

current ideas:

spotting penalties for movement (its easier to see someone whos moving)
ammunition / fuel levels/ morale counters
addition equipment (demolitions to wipe out buildings and bridges, smoke grenades/mortar/arty rounds)

basically we'll convert the models movement range to a smaller distance on the map and the 2 players would submit their movements to a GM who would work out spotting and contacts. (movement of other squads still happens when there is a contact, so if 2 squads meet you could move in nearby squads who would appear once they reached the engagement area(s).

if you dont think it'll work jsut tell us why (and dont say its too complex, because trust me its not =P)
