Title: Yme-loc Swordwind
Description: 2250pts Tourney/Friendly

Chivi'queleste - February 10, 2007 03:34 AM (GMT)
I have a local tourney to attend on the 24th of March and I intend to bring a fun list. This is not what I would call 'uber-competitive', but I should do all right. There will be no comp-scoring, other than the required single HQ and two troops, though WYSIWYG and painting will add to the overall score to determine the tourney champion. The normal 3 games, this time with 2250pt lists.

Yme-Loc Swordwind

Farseer Chivi'queleste w/ Converted Jetbike (Vyper), Runes of Witnessing, Singing Spear, Guide -118pts

Autarch Ilni'sordin w/ Jetbike, Laser Lance, Mandiblasters, Fusion Gun, Grenades -140pts

----------

Dire Avengers (10) w/ Exarch: Twin Direpults, Bladestorm, Defend -167pts
-=- Wave Serpent w/ Spirit Stones, Twin Scatter Lasers -125pts

Dire Avengers (10) w/ Exarch: Twin Direpults, Bladestorm, Defend -167pts
-=- Wave Serpent w/ Spirit Stones, Twin Star Cannons -135pts

----------

Striking Scorpions (10) w/ Exarch: Scorpion's Claw -187pts
-=- Wave Serpent w/ Spirit Stones, Twin Eldar Missile Launchers -130pts

----------

Swooping Hawks (5) w/ Exarch: Sun Rifle, Skyleap, Intercept -152pts

Shining Spears (4) w/ Exarch: Withdraw -177pts

Vyper Squadron (3) w/ Scatter Lasers x3, Shuricannons x3 -210pts

----------

Falcon w/ Scatter Laser, Shuricannon, Holofield, Spirit Stones -185pts

Falcon w/ Scatter Laser, Shuricannon, Holofield, Spirit Stones -185pts

Fire Prism w/ Shuricannon, Holofield, Spirit Stones -170pts

----------

Total of 35 'Infantry', 6 Jetbikes, 9 Grav-Vehicles, and 9 Scoring Units for 2248pts.

The Farseer and the Vypers team up to send 21 rerollable Str6 shots at the enemy and provide a very significant distraction for the real push of 20 Avengers and 10 Scorpions. The Spears and Autarch provide a serious threat to the enemy elite, attempting to keep the flanks of the Avengers and Scorpions clear. The Grav-Tanks do what they do best, by eliminating highest priority threats early in the game. The most fun, I think, will be the Hawks, who I have yet to play in any game. Really, I like their ability to remove even the heaviest of the enemy armor, as well as their usefulness against light infantry.

What are your thoughts?

Also consider that Marines of all varieties, Eldar, Tau, and Speed Freaks are the most likely opponents to be faced in this tourney.

its a nice list but you lack serious anti tank especially vs enemies with ar 14 frontal armour so landraiders, leman russ, monoliths, predators

even ar 13 such as tau hammer heads is going to be a problem

solution
either get some bright lances
or
vs non landraider/ monolith give the farseer psyhic storms as the ability to do a glancing hit is good but the spin round is great, last game i spun an enemy basilisk side on and then ripped into it with scatter lasers

Agreed with Hard Rain.

Also, I don't see the point of the Falcons....their weapons aren't that great, and certainly not worth the points cost seeming Vypers can be equiped similarly. I advise dropping both Falcons, buying another Fire Prism and another squad of Vypers with Bright Lances.

Thanks guys...

I've looked at the Anti-Tank in the list several times, and really feel that there is enough. There is one player who tends to use 3 Land Raiders, but his army will be easy to outmaneouver.

The Falcons and Prism will spend the first couple of turns using their Pulse Lasers/Prism Cannon to remove enemy transports, light tanks, and Dreadnoughts, and then move up to support the rest of the army in mopping up the infantry. Not only can the 2 Falcons and the Prism remove vehicles, but the Farseer w/ Spear, the Autarch w/ Fusion & Haywire, the Hawks w/ Haywire, the Serpent w/ Twin EMLs, and the profusion of Str6 shots/attacks can help to eliminate nearly all vehicles I can imagine by turn two.

The enemy will be eating 44 Str6 shots on turn one (of an Alpha/Gamma mission), and not all will be directed toward infantry. Mobility will permit me many opening shots into the side armor of enemy vehicles. Truthfully, I just tend to ignore and evade Land Raiders and Monoliths. Works great with my IG too.

One of the main focuses on my army is that of the enemy's target selection. I really want to make it hard for him to decide between the 6 AV12 Skimmers, the AV10 Skimmer Squadron, or the Spears. All of these are fairly equal in point costs, and still very difficult to remove from the game when used correctly. I'm thinking of a very In-your-face style of warfare for this army.
