Title: Building My Radical Army
Description: An on going thread

Calaith - January 22, 2007 10:43 PM (GMT)

G'day guys,

This is going to be an ongoing thread about my Radical Inquisitor army. Most of you have already seen my Daemonhost, but with a job suddenly landing in my lap I am now able to go full steam ahead and make my entire army over the course of the next year or so.

The point of this thread is to ask advise on what models, and units shall I collect?

My plan for the army is roughly: Inquisitor Lord (radical Inquisitor Lucien) and Retinue, 1-2 Daemonhosts, an Assassin though I have not decided which one yet, two solid squads of Inquisitorial Storm Troopers, (maybe 3) and finally some inducted (traitor) imperial Guardsmen. I'm hoping that will rack up about 1,000 points.

My first question is 'Is the above list idea viable?'

My second question is mainly aimed at those who have read my Daemonhost short story. (link to the origional) The Question is on that has been bugging me for some time, and that is 'what model should I use to represent Inquisitor Lucien?'

This model should of course meet his description is the story. This means power armour (or something that could pass as power armour) slightly hidden under a flowing cloak. Long hair, and of course a psychic hood and what not to comply with wysiwyg. I was thinking the Chief Librarian of the Blood Angels model, as he fits the description well. But I don't like this model because a: He's wearing a skirt, and b: he has huge arse hands as a result of being a rather old minature.

I was also thinking about the Eldar Death Jester (what it is released), which is a long and lanky model. I take away his shrieker cannon obviously for something else like a sword and a bare hand, his coat looks very Inquisitor and very Lucien, and replace his head with the old unhelmeted Guardian head. But would this look simply to much like an Eldar? Are there other things I could do to it that would make it more Imperial looking.

But I'm out of ideas. Does anyone else think that the above ideas are any good? Or can you suggest another model that would fit the description just as well. The model does not have to be overly huge, nor does it have to have a bunch of Linquisitorial insignia over it, as Lucien is a radical.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Any help is greatly appreciated,
Cal

what about converting a WH vampire lord figure?

army list yes viable but may lack much punch although inducted guard could give you a leman russ ir just go for a fluffy army

assassins i like the vindicare but some death cult assassins would also fit well as figures and fluff

daemons hosts tend to be cc orientated so make your army upfront and personal
focus on assualt weapons and close combat retinue for Lucien maybe?

I'll have a look at the Vampire counts.

I do very much like the idea of the Vindicar (Boom! Head shot!), I like the look of Death Cult though I don't know what they do exactly, and though a Caladus would probably be less fluffy I still think that it would be awesome! I'll wait to get the codex and see what models are available before I make a decision however. Assassins can be hard to come by in Aus.

It is my intention to make Lucien and his retinue as agressive as possible. Sadly Inquisitors lack the real punch I had hoped they'd have. Not to worry, as they still have some nice Wargear options from what I've seen, even if it is all aimed at Daemons.

death cult are a single chocie but you can have more than one , a nice close combat unit good vs small elite units
the one shot and dead sniper assassin is either awesome or performs poorly they have a wide variety of special ammo and are very felxiable

the best close combat inq combos is a thunder hammer , term armour, x3 acoyltes with hand weapon and sword shield and x3 combat servitors , and a few famalars hammer hand can be a good alternative to a thunder hammer if you want him bare handed but the hammer is very nice or a force weapon

Holy Carp... thats about what i said on EI.

And i just checked. THERES SOMEONE ELSE THERE! Well, thats a WOOT!

Death Cult assassins are a good choice. Not cheap, but they have a power weapon. But their also only CC, no ranged at all. Personally i like using them. Especially when i have Daemonhosts.

I lika de vindicare. :D After all, if your gonna have a cc oriented army then you should have some stuff to take out tanks and soften large creatures and tough units. :D

yes also good for picking off enemy hv weapon users or even taking out light vehicles or skimmers 2D6 normal armour pen and a 1 shot 3D6 with a 2+ to hit in first place :ph43r:

perhaps a Callidus assassin if your after a CC themed army

Calaith - March 2, 2007 10:19 PM (GMT)

Thanks for bringing me back here Meaphet, almost forgot about this thread. :P

Callidus are cool, but Liechtenstein already had one for his army, so I didn't want to copy, it's boring. Also I was in love with the Vindicar Assassins rules, and so bought one the other day when I found it in GW.

My Inquisitorial army currently has two models. My covnerted DH, and a Vindicar. It could possibly see an addition Daemonhost in the future (A converted plague bearer :P) and perhaps Lucien himself if the Harlequins are re-released soon. (A converted Death Jester is a high possability.

Cheers, Cal
