Title: Wip Eldar Miniatures
Description: Still a way to go, but you get the idea!

Hi everyone;

I am new to this Forum, though I recognize a few of you from Boot Camp...

I am starting my Eldar army, and decided to post a few pics for C&C.

They can be found here:

Damn they're some well painted models! I adore your colour scheme, simple yet strikingly effective.

Also, I like the unified scheme between aspects and Guardians, it makes them all feel mroe of the same army :D

Thanks!

I was curious about how people would feel about not painting the aspect warriors in the traditional colors; I personally don't care for the technicolor army look...

i also dont like the techno colour army and try to match my troops

ah someone else with the same first name as me :D

I don't think anyone does these days. I used to have all my aspects painted to their shrine colours, but now that I'm repainting them they'll all match my Autarch and be black and red.

Anyway, really nice choice of colours there. The shining green and gold really work together, and the Hawks especially are very striking.

Thanks, Calaith!

As stated, they are work in progress, so I still have a lit of cleaning up and detailing to do... I am thinking trying to decide what color to use for the gems; my first instinct is red to make them contrast with the green, but there's the whole 'Christmas Elves' thing... maybe purple?

Thoughts?

Damn! The colour scheme is very similar to mine! I repainted mine snot green with tin bitz details... The Hawks were VERY GOOD, I must use the green throughout my army, it worked for you.

:lol: This is funny, as I have intentions of painting all my aspects (all in one army) the same scheme too.

Here's a question, does anyone paint their aspects shrine colours?

Farseer Saitha - January 21, 2007 08:59 PM (GMT)
Apparently people just don't do it anymore. The techno army has gone out of fashion. I've seensome techno armies on the net, but they're usually very good or very cr*p.

The amount of people painting shrine colours will probably continue to decrees as well with the abolition of the Beil-Tan list. Traditionally the Beil-Tan colour scheme was to paint all the aspects their ritual colours with just a green or white detail on a cloth or something. Now less and less people will collect Beil-Tan, prefering to start their own Craftworlds.

I think purple would be an appropriate colour for the gems. Red is overrated, and I don't think it would fit in with the rest of the colourscheme. So purple or blue is a good choice.

Purple or blue definitly. When I first went Eldar I was going to paint my guardians purple and give them green gems.

Personally I use red gems. Contrasts with the green and doesn't look Christmassy at all.

They look good, but I'd say the drybrushing is a little heavy. Also, maybe go in and ink the recesses and lines between armor plating with a dark green/black watered down color (ink or paint). That would really sharpen up the armor. The metal looks cool, and for the gems, I would recommend blue or maybe even yellow. Purple might work, but I've always though purple and green look weird together.

Overall, nice minis, hope to see lots more!

Hi all;

Sorry for the delay in response; I only have internet access at work.

I'm glad to hear that the Techno army is not considered a requirement; I wouldn't want these guys to be contravercial!

I think I will try purple for the gems, though I do like the idea of yellow too... I'll probably run a few tests.

@Incendium:

Some of the drybrushing effect may be from the poor scanning; (I don't have a digital camera yet) I am trying a different technique on these minis; I start by drybrushing with Boltgun metal fairly lightly, but a bit heavier on top and front sides, then I wash the armor sections with thinned down Dark Angels Green. On the finished product the metallic tone shows through, and I think the scanner is hitting those with a lot of light, creating the effect.

Though if you're talking about the brazen brass drybrushing then you're probably right. :P

As far as the armor is concerned, I am planning to go back and pain the non-plated sections black and highlight up to maybe a codex gray. As mentioned, they are VERY much work in progress!

I do appreciate the feedback! :D
