Title: Fielding An Exodite Army
Description: Tips for using this force.

Calaith - January 3, 2007 03:27 AM (GMT)

Similar to the Harlequin thread, this thread is designed to give you set rules about how to field an Exodite army. Remember, like the Harlequin force, this army isn't meant for gamers who want to win every game. It is intended for those who want to try a themed force around the Harlequins or Exodites.

See my other post here.

Exodites

- HQ

- Exodites are generally led by 'tribe leaders', who are warriors that have honed warrior and leadership skills. They are the lords of their people. An Autarch can be used to repressent a Tribe Leader, however he may not be equipmed with the following weapons or equipment.
- Swooping Hawk wings or Warp Jump Generator.
- The Banshees mask and Mandiblasters can be taken, but will need to be repressented and explained another appropriate way.
- Death Spinners and Reaper Launchers cannot be taken.

- The Exodites may not field an Avatar.

- The Exodites may field a Pheonix Lord. These mysterious figures apear in many different places of the galaxy, and who's to say they may not appear on an Exodite Maiden world? A single squad of the Pheonix Lords respective aspect warrior may be fielded with him.

- The Exodites also have their own Seers, who are particularly far sighted. They can be repressented by a Farseer, and have no limitations. The Farseer may even be accompanied by a number of warlocks, which do not have limitations either.

- Elites

- Exodites can sometimes seem highly barberic in comparison to other Craftworlds. However their ways of training are merely different, though perhaps less stringent than the path of the warrior. Particularly skilled Exodite combatants come together to form fighting groups when they go to war, and of course specialize in moving through the jungle or other terrain of their home world. These warrior groups are repressented by Striking Scorpions, however they must be appropriately modelled so that it is apparent that they are not striking scorpions.
- The Exarch may not field a Scorpions Claw, as Exodites prefer not to use such heavy weaponry, nor do they have such technology so easily at their disposal.
- A squad of normal scorpions may of course be fielded if the appropriate Pheonix Lord is pressent. These scorpions may field a scorpions claw.

- Exodites do not have the ready technology to field groups of power weapon wielding Banshees or Fusion gun equiped Fire Dragons.

- Exodites may not field Wraith Guard.

- Harlequins can appear anywhere in the galaxy, be it on a Craftworld, in the city of the Dark kin, or on an Exodite Maiden world. The Exodites may there for field Harlequins as per normal.

- Troops

- The Exodites main fighting force consists of gruilla fighters. Thus it is advised that the Exodites take Storm Guardians as their man troops choice. They must of course be modelled to look like Exodites and not Storm Guardians.

- They may field Rangers or Path Finders. These figures often stray from their Craftworld, and who is to say they will not travel to an Exodite Maiden World?

- The Exodites do not have the stringent training routins that the Craftworld Eldar must live by when they walk upon the path of the warrior. Thus Exodites may not field Dire Avengers unless the proper Pheonix Lord is fielded, and even then only one squad can be fielded.

- Exodites have easy access to Shuriken technology, and they have a large number of troops and citizens ready to deffend their maiden world if it comes under attack. Thus Exodites may field deffender Guardians, but they should be modelled apropriately. They may be led by a Warlock/Exodite Seer with no restrictions, but may not be given a weapons platform.

- Exodites ride utop the backs of the mighty megadons, which are two leged reptilian like creatures. They may be represent by Jet bikes. Explaining the shuriken catapults is up to the player, whether the rider carries the weapon, or wether the beast spits and long ranged acid like saliva.

- Exodites may not field Wave Serpents.

- Fast Attack

- Exodites may never field Warp spiders.

- Exodites may ever field Swooping hawks if the appropriate Pheonix Lord is also fielded.

- Shining Spears are used to repressent those Exodites who have mastered the command of their reptilian steeds, and also use long lance like weapons to attack their oponent with. They should be modelled apropriately.

- Exodites may not field Vypers.

- Heavy Support

- Exodites use large mechanical walking machines to do overly heavy lifting, hearding of their reptilian steads, and can even be outfitted for war. They are not dissimilar to the War Walker, and thus war walkers are used to repressent them.

- Exodites may never field Dark Reapers unless Maugen Ra is present.

- Exodites may field suppot weapons batteries, but may not use the D-cannon.

- Exodites may not field a Wraith Lord, as they do not use spirit stones.

- Exodites may not field Falcons or Fire Prisms.

- Designers Notes

- The Exodites were considerably harder to write a codex adaptation for, as there is considerably less fluff on them than any other Eldar faction. Thus this adaptation is highly open for critisism.

- Note that there are almost no vehicles allowed. They may be fielded if you are able to come up with a viable fluff reason why they are there, or come up with something else to repressent them like a giant reptilian beast!

- On jetbikes, they may never be repressented as Jetbikes. They are intended to be the cavalry beasts that the Exodites ride, and may be repressented in a number of other ways. Flying reptiles, the cold ones of the Dark Elves, or even giant spiders. Where ever your imagination may take you.

- To repressent the Exodites themselves, perhaps wood elves are the most apropriate. Remember that you will need to be able to repressent every piece of weaponry and equipment that the Eldar warriors are equiped with.

- Finally, note that these are only suggested rules. If you have something better or different, than please share.

Could you bend the list together. Like say the craftworld eldar help the exodites defend their world so vehicles like fire prisms would be allowed and aspects too.

Calaith - January 3, 2007 03:51 AM (GMT)

Possibly.

If you wanted to field a themed list you could simply take a Craftworld list and use Exodite style models to repressent Storm Guardians, Scorpions, etc.

However these experimental rules were intended for people want to field pure Exodite lists.

i would also let the exodites use banshees as they fit the old myths and the idea of a female warrior cult like eldar amazons fits well

swoop hawks could be pterdacyal riders or on gliders like ewoks in return of the jedi

(oh my god i cant believe ive mentioned ewoks and eldar in the same sentance)

Calaith - January 5, 2007 05:54 AM (GMT)

The Swooping hawks is a good idea.

I also don't hate the idea of the Banshees. But my problem is that Exodites don't have access to all the technology and equipment that Craftworld Eldar have. They're obviously not at the 'tying sharp rocks to a long bit of wood' stage, but they don't have access to, for example fusion guns or Reaper Launchers in mass. I wouldn't think they would have access to Power weapons in mass either.

but power weapons could be tapping into the users own psyhic ability to some extent for them it could be magic swords forged by a few gifted smiths who know how? remember the exodites were part of the eldar empire once and may have relics of this old tech

but i do agree about fusion guns, missile launchers etc

Calaith - January 5, 2007 10:53 AM (GMT)

Good points. Maybe a 0-1 limit on Banshees and/or Scorpions?

Cal, Defender Guardians must always be accompanied by a heavy weapon platform.

Hi,

I saw an Exodite army years ago and it fielded Wraithlords as a converted Carnosaurs. You could stick a pyschic harpoon type thingy with crew for a heavy weapon (or use a Shuriken Cannon).

Or if you had it without a heavy weapon, no rider and just a wraithsword (tactics not withstanding) the fluff would fit as a Beastmaster (Spirit Seer) would need to be near by to keep it in check.

Also they had a Dragon which looked appropriatley Eldar-ish (wraithbone harnesses and Crew on it's back) modelled on a Fire Prism shaped base for obstructed targets + range. It's breath providing the main weapon.
