hi

I just started with eldar and I wanted to ask some people on what to buy. I personally don't like the battleforce as I don't like the guardians and the single warwalker. I don't have enough money to buy an army deal so that is not an option

I am really attracted to the dire avenger models so I made a list on what to buy for christmas

2x dire avenger box
1x fire dragon box

I will convert a autarch from a dire avenger. the reason i took the fire dragons in my list because I like the models and the stats. I also considered to buy a box of dark reapers.
so what do you think of my choices. would it be a good start for a beginning eldar player

thanx
thomas

Hi thomas92,

The models you suggested are a good start. Most of the units in the new codex are a matter of choice. There are no real no-nos.
Perhaps a foot Autarch wouldn't be the best. They seem (although I have to add I have never used them) to be best when flying/jumping with Hawks/Spiders to add CC and tankhunting support or to join some Spears for added 'killiness'. They seem a little weak on foot, not strong enough to ravage enemy troops and not quick enough to support others.
Dark Reapers are solid marine killers just becareful with deployment (keeping them in range/line of sight but out of the way of any nasty return fire/combat troops.

What points level are you working upto (1000, 2000 etc.) and do you have regular opponents (SM no doubt) or do want a more flexible tournament style list.

Happy gaming,

GL.

Its a great start to a list.

Dark Reapers are probably one of the best infantry choices you could make on what to add next as you'll need some ranged firepower.
