Title: Mechanised 1500

Hi,

I saw a really cool mechanised Eldar army recently. It was 1850 pts and didn't have a Farseer so I've had to adapt it slightly. Here's mine;

Craftworld Dam Soole
HQ
Farseer Siansung (Eldrad Ulthran)
Well what can I say, THE Farseer, maximum flexibility, maximum uses. Joins one of the Dire Avengers and Guides, Dooms, Storms appropriate targets.

Elites
6x Striking Scorpions w/ Exarch, Chainsabres, Shadowstrike, Stalker
I've used these frequently, can't say they always do something useful, but I like them all the same.
6x Fire Dragons
Tankhunters/MEQ/Terminators
8x Harlequins w/ Troupe Master, Shadowseer, 5x Kisses
CC monsters

Troops
10x Dire Avengers w/ Exarch, Additional Shuriken Cat. Bladestorm
Mounted In: Waveserpent w/ T-L EML, Vectored Engines, S.Stones

10x Dire Avengers w/ Exarch, Additional Shuriken Cat. Bladestorm
Mounted In: Waveserpent w/ T-L EML, Vectored Engines, S.Stones

Fast Attack
Vyper w/ 2x Shuriken Cannons
I know it will explode if the enemy gives it a fierce stare but it's quick and hopefully my opponent will be too busy with other targets.

Heavy Support
Falcon w/ Starcannon, Holofield, Spirit Stones
Dragon transport

1505 pts.

Summary
Support - Farseer
Tanks - Falcon, Dragons, Wave's EML and a lesser extent 'quins
MEQ - Falcon, Dragons, Harlequins
Horde - Dires, Vyper, Wave's EML, Farseer(Storm), Scorpions
CC - Scorpions, Harlequins
Fast - Vyper

Tactics, suggestions etc.
By the way thanks for the feedback with the other list.

GL.

i'd hardly call it mechanised with 1 skimmer , 1 tank and a couple of tranports
first sight seems bitty to me , jack of all trades master of none

Not too bad.

Firstly, you say the scorpions arn't always great. There are two points about these guys. Firstly, I recommend a scorpion's claw for te exarch, as it gives the squad an edge when up against power armour. Secondly, remember it isn't always wise to cahrge this squad head-long into the enemy (something I do far two often); its all fine and good to do this, but they need cover. This squad will often do better if you leave it behind cover for a turn or so unitl some threats to them are either neutralised or have more pressing targets. This allows them to arrive pretty much intact, which allows them to strut their stuff in combat.

I've often thought about using Eldrad as a farseer for my army, but I've always decided not to mainly because of points. In this size game he is a veryu expensive character. Also, remember that by keeping him in thye Avenger units, which are mounted, he can only cast Mind war or Eldritched storm the turn they dismount because Guide, Fortune and Doom must be cast first thing in the turn, before movement, and before the unit dismounts from tanks, and he cannot cast powers when mounted.

@Hardrainfalling
Thanks for the reply. I guess it is mechanised in that everything that needs a transport to be in the right place has one.
It follows the basic structure that all my armies do, I think the thing I am missing is if I needed to absolutely nuke an opposing unit (C'tan or Winged Chaos Do Dat) I wouldn't be able to provide that much fire power. I am however at a loss on how I could fit in more shootiness.

@Inquisitor Liechtenstein
Thanks for the reply. I guess I just haven't figured out what exactly their role is yet. I am a little reluctant about the Scorpion Claw because of the strike last problem, although I guess he has the armour to cope.

I think a jetbike Farseer would be much more effective (and cheaper) but because I played USF I just can't get my head around a 3,000 year old guy that is slowly going crystalline hitching up his skirt and flying at break neck speeds (I imagine him leaving his indicator on too long and backing into other parked tanks).

Qu. Can an independent character that has joined a mounted unit, disembark from the transport, leaving the unit inside?

Thanks,
GL.

Thats one of the issues that I couldn't put my finger on yesterday. I recon yuy should loose the vyper and some of the upgrades on your other tanks and then if you have to, make your farseer conventional, and then put in a fire prism. Its template lascannon when its focused is great for vehicles, terminators and big gribbleis alike, while the unfocused pie-plate-heavy bolter round is brillinat for taking out wgole squads of guardsmen and the like in one hit.

That is massively overwhelmed by two things. Firstly, the benefits of 3+ to hit adn 2+ to kill most models greatly outweight two sabre-swords (unless you're playing Catachans or something). Also, with 20 strength 4 attacks on the charge this unit usually is able to deal out enough pain so that it doesn't get wiped out before the exarch attacks. I think its a good idea to take it, it makes a big difference.

I'm going to guess, No, but I have no way of varifying that as I leant my rulebook to a friend two days ago... <_<

@ Inquisitor Liechtenstein,
Thanks for the reply. Firstly, ok I'm convinced about the claw. I've just played a game against SM (obviously) and god I hate 3+ armour saves. :P

As for the first comment, I did have a Fire Prism in but dropped it for something (can't remember what). Ok to squeeze it back in, I'm reluctant to drop Eldrad, 3 powers a turn and a choice of any of them is just too good. By dropping the VE from both Waveserpents (I never seem to roll Immobilised anyway, It's either crew Stunned/shaken or it explodes) and the Vyper I get 95 points. I need to find 150 pts for a Fire Prism w/ Holofield.

I could drop the EML from both WS and replace them with T-L Shuriken Cannons and swap the Starcannon on the Falcon for a Scatterlaser. That would just about do it (1505 pts and no Scorpion claw) but I think this will drastically reduce the efficacy of these 3 units.

Any other ideas anybody?
