Title: My Very Own Craftworld
Description: and with a story
The Banished Ranger - November 19, 2006 06:08 AM (GMT)
Yesterday I made an idea for craftworld where my eldar come from. I'm still in school so don't expect a great story.
Anyway... my craftworld is named Hni-Benn and it's colours are black and blue. It's symbol is the sword of Khaine breaking Vaul's Anvil representing Khaine winning the war in Heaven. Here is the story.
The favored of Khaine
When the war in heaven erupted their were to prime gods fighting each other. Khaine the god of war and Vaul the smith god. All the gods, except for one, sided with the two antagonists and that god was Asuryan, king of gods. All of the eldar craftworlds chose the wise descison of Asuryan to stay out of the conflict, except for two craftworlds. Puratar and Hni-Benn. Puratains claimed that Khaine was too impulsive and thus joined the side of Vaul. The Hni said that Vaul cheated Khaine and that he deserved to be punished and chose the latter's side. As the war in heavan went on, increasing hostilities between the two craftworlds escalated. The farseers from the worlds, forseeing the upcoming conflict, tried to convince the Autarchs to put a stop to this nonsense, but pride got in the way of judgement. Knowing they could do no more the farseers readied themselves for war as did every other eldar on the craftworlds. Emissaries were sent from the two craftworlds to enlist aid from other eldar and somehow got their acceptance.
The War
Full war erupted. Eldar fought eldar on... craftworlds, steaming jungles, oceans of fire and ice, in the depths of space and even the webway. Guardian killing guardian, swooping hawks strangling themselves in the sky, striking scorpions shirmishing with themselves, tanks and War Walkers firing up devastion to their counterparts and even Autarchs found and killed each other on the battlefield. Even the dead fought on for their cause. Wraithguard ripping apart wraithguard and giant wrainthlords dueling their enemies. And just like the gods, the allied craftworlds switched sides, made and broke pacts just to further their own cause and those who did so were killed with extreme predjudice, their craftworlds torn apart by other eldar. There was no mercy, no respite and the eldar not involved cried to the heavens to end this, but no one answered them. And the fighting lasted for years.
The end of the war
As Khaine was gaining the advantage in heaven, so were the Hni and their allies in hell. Once lush worlds were left bare from the fighting, bodies were piled high. Millions of eldar died. And then their was an end in sight. The Hni and the very small fraction of the craftworlds that helped them knew the Puratains were retreating to their craftworld.
Puratar was not the gem it was before the fighting began. It had trenches lined everywhere with eldar bunkers and towers lined up behind them everywhere. Every inch was protected in someway. And the civilian populace was prepared to fight also. And for a final attack the Hni attacked Puratar. Out of the war this was the worst fighting of all. Many died in the entrenched cityscapes. Such close quarters meant that anything with a large blast radius would decimate hordes of eldar. And the aspect warriors had an easy time picking off guardians but struggled against their counterparts. Rangers hid anywhere they could scoring huge amounts of casualties before grenades blew them apart. Tanks had tough times getting through all the debris. And the wraithbone was coated with the blood of the eldar, buildings toppled down upon the fighting. Each death was a happy eldar spirit glad to leave the fighting. Death was everywhere. The siege continued for months before the bloodlusted Hni gained the upper hand. And on the elaorate wraithbone bridges and spires of Puratar, the defenders held their final defence. The Hni sensing a close to the fighting ignorantly charged the Puratains, for that mistake thay suffered greatly, but eventually reached their enemies. At the end the Hni looked out into space realising that Khaine had also won. They took all of the spirit stones of the Puratains and embeded them within the wraithbone of Hni-Benn, as a reminder of staying true to Khaine.
Aftermath
Every craftworld involed suffered terribly, most became excinct from lack of protection and population. Those that did not participate and the ones who survived the fighting despise the Hni for what they did. But the Hni don't care because their in the favor of their god. And now the farseers of Hni-Benn have recieved visions from Khaine's Avatars that the war god shall be reborn when the Avatars become one. And that is their goal to find the pieces of Khaine. And if they have to kill brethren to do it, then so be it! :P

i like it , now you need to say how this background affects the composition of their armies eg always take avatar , which aspects fit best with khaine?
Calaith - November 19, 2006 11:08 AM (GMT)
well realistically ALL aspects fit well with Khaine, as they are all based on a different facet of war. The Warp Spiders are (only arguably) the exception to this, but every other aspect could be used feesably.
I'd suggest Fire Dragons (Fire, magma skin), Banshees (The howl of death and sword) Scorpions (The warrior might) and Shining Spears (Khaine's spear) as your aspects however.
I'm also going to move this topic to the Black Library, where all our own fluff is archived. This board is to discuss the GW fluff of the 41st Millenium, each of its races and so forth. Our own fluff designs belong in the library, but fear not, it is a common mistake ;)

Wait you guys are saying how this affects my army composition
And warp spiders could also be an aspect of Khaine. For their recklessness of going into the warp?
Hardrainfalling - November 19, 2006 03:54 PM (GMT)
no we are just making suggestions as i believe fluff should affect how an army fights and what it fields. yes most aspects fit khaine but how do you plan to make it extra khaine like?
The Banished Ranger - November 19, 2006 04:19 PM (GMT)
Well your idea of always having an avatar is good but I don't like the model. Maybe they get an extra attack in CC because of their fervor to Khaine but that seems a little unfair. Or maybe I can take away guardians out of my fielding options saying that everyone is trained in an aspect to worship Khaine.

if you dont like the GW model of the avatar than might i sugest the Forge world model its alot taller and you can either by the model with a sword or spear. and if you purely wanted the aspects of Kaine dont have the warp spiders because they were created from a small animal that lives on board the craft worlds and has nothing to do at all with the War God
