Title: The Hardest Army
Description: Have you faced a hard army tell us.
Euleze - March 13, 2006 11:11 AM (GMT)
Hey guys I thought I would write a post asking you guys what the hardest army you have faced and why?
So yeah I'll start you off.
Your army:
Dark Eldar
There army:
Necrons
What happened:
I versused Cal with my Dark Eldar against his Necrons, and we'll I got smashed to put it. Maybe it was because I didn't have enough exp VS Necrons but still I got slaughted. So yeah so far I would have to say the hardest army to go against with my Dark Eldar is the Necrons.
Meaphet Ran - March 14, 2006 05:34 AM (GMT)
My army: Necrons :D
other army: Tyranids, Black Templars and Khorne
understadable reasons
Calaith - March 14, 2006 07:02 AM (GMT)
My Army: Necrons
Other army: BT
Their just damn hard to beat because my brother can make all manner of saves for them, even if I saturate them in fire or hit them with Destroyers. To make mattres worse I usually fail at least one save every time he shoots at me, even if its only two saves, and my Lord seems to have a rubber Staff of Light.
My Army: Beil-Tan Eldar
Other army: Space Wolves 13th company.
I was litteraly jumping up and down with joy when i first beat these guys. Their super CC killers can often outclass my aspects because they also have 3+ saves. Also my oponent is really cunning with his deployment, so more times than not my Reapers have very little to shoot at.
Inquisitor Liechtenstein - March 21, 2006 01:02 AM (GMT)
My army:
Guard
Their Army:
Necrons
What Happened:
This happened to be my first experience against the Necrons. In short, over about six battles, they totally whipped the floor with my Guard (not one win). I was actually disappointed with the Flayed One's performances, as they are one of the better looking Necron units, but did bugger all. I've also learnt in the first battle that the destroyers MUST go very quickly, as they took out around about 20 Guardsmen and my Sorm Trooper (stupid AP 4 weaponry).
Also:
My Army:
Space Wolve's 13th Company
Cal's Army:
Beil Tan
What Happened:
Like Cal noted in the above post, he has been having a hell of a time versing my 13th Company. I honestly think that this is partially to do with the fact that he is almost always trying out very experimental army lists against them (and everything else for that matter). I'm not saying that this is a bad thing, but I believe that when versing such a troublesome army, he should be using something that he's more familiar with. Besides, to his credit, my squads are usually in tastters by the time that they are in combat (and my Loard is appauling with Leadership tests at crucial moments, it's actually rather frustrating).
Calaith - April 18, 2006 12:12 AM (GMT)
My Army: Beil-Tan
Their Army: Necrons......Meaphet Ran's Necrons
What Happened:
Heck I barely even want to talk about it. Admittedly I took a list which I might not normaly field, simply so I could jam in as many high powered AP1-2 guns as I could. Well lets just say that after having 15 Star Cannon shots, missing with almost all of them and only causing about 3 casualties from that single volley it was clear my luck that game was going to be apalling, and indeed it was down hill the whole way. Pretty much Meaphet executed my units each turn leaving me with very little to fight back with, and I simply couldn't keep up with his casualty rate. I felt like I was trying to keep my head above water the whole game.
A real credit to Meaphet's usual 1,000 Necron list, which consists of alot of Destroyers, and alot of warriors as a 'Phase Out' anker.
Cheers, Cal

my army: imperial guard armoured compnay
their army: dark eldar
lesson learnt: massed dark lance teams huurrrt!!
Brak'hir - April 23, 2006 02:34 AM (GMT)
lol i did that to someone with lots of tanks once.....good times
Commissar-Craig - April 30, 2006 01:14 AM (GMT)
My Army: AI Guard.
There Army: Tyranids
Reason: He lasted to turn 3 & almost turn 4 but thankfully after 2 turns & a half of bad luck a few lucky shots put down his 9th Carnifex for good & I won again which kind of sucked.
Brak'hir - April 30, 2006 01:36 AM (GMT)
9th carnifex!!!!
How many points were you playing?????
Commissar-Craig - April 30, 2006 01:42 AM (GMT)
20K It was a special day.
Brak'hir - April 30, 2006 01:44 AM (GMT)
Ah that makes sense now......you killed 20k in 4 turns?? wow
Commissar-Craig - April 30, 2006 01:47 AM (GMT)
Er no 3 turns heven forbid a battle that involves me reaching turn 4.
Inquisitor Liechtenstein - April 30, 2006 05:50 AM (GMT)
Out of a matter of interest, how many tanks did your Guard have (and if it involved super-heavies or titans, please mention them seperately).
Reaper - April 30, 2006 06:19 AM (GMT)
My Army: Alaitoc Eldar
Enemy Army: Tau
Well what can i say? i love ranger disruption, i sent several of his most important squads off the board, which allowed me to get my wraithlords across the field..... need i say more

I said AI Guard (AI=All Infantry Imperial Guard) there were no tanks on my side though my opponent had 2 Barbed Hierodule's, 2 Trygon's & a Hierophant Bio Titan. But all was good I personaly think thats why he lost lol. Pureing to many points into Tyranid's Heavy Support choices, leaves fery few targets for the many guard to shoot. That & 50+/- Lascannons speak louder than words.
Chivi'queleste - April 30, 2006 08:50 PM (GMT)
I still run a mixed bag of IG, with about 110 infantry, 2 chimeras, 2 sentinels, and 2 russ's in about 1500pts.
The most difficult games I've had with IG tend to be against Godzilla (lite) lists and Terminator-heavy forces. I don't pack a single lascannon, and few melta/plasma weapons. This does make for fun games, and even when I outnumber the enemy nearly 3 or 4:1, the inevitable 'draws' make for some very fun games.
All the same, my IG are 10-0-2 (WLD) in local tournament play, winning 3 and placing 2nd in a fourth.
As for my Eldar, I'm really not sure who the toughest opponent would be. I imagine that balanced Necrons or a sizable Marine army with respectable firepower could prove difficult, but so far no competent generals have come up with such an army in my local group.
I'd say that another Eldar list could prove the most difficult, based on the last tourney game I played, where I faced a mixed Biel Tan army with my Mech Biel Tan. It was still a major victory to me, but it was quite unusual, sitting on the other side of my own maneovres and tricks.
My Eldar are undefeated in tourney play, with only 3 games under their belts, but I imagine that the group I play will not let this streak continue past the next summer tourney.
Commissar-Craig - April 30, 2006 09:27 PM (GMT)
I'v yet to see a person who has lost a game online. Everyones boosting these 123-10-40ect wins & 0 loses. Where are all the people that are loseing these games lol.
Chivi'queleste - April 30, 2006 09:44 PM (GMT)
On the other side of the table from me. :P
Granted, I only play an average of 12 games per year. I have to take time off work, one of my vacation days, to attend the local tournaments, and haven't played a 'friendly game' since last summer. The numbers I posted are the majority of my games in the last 3 years. 15 Games is not all that much and less than many play in a month.
Again, I'm 32 years old, and often play against gamers still in school. In many ways, I have the edge, despite the infrequency of my gaming.

Sorry, my mistake. To rephrase that then, how many infantry models did your army have in it?
Commissar-Craig - May 3, 2006 08:24 PM (GMT)
1/4 Regement, so exactly 2,500 + an inquisitor. Which was in the due to the mission we were playing.
Inquisitor Liechtenstein - May 4, 2006 07:55 AM (GMT)
If you painted all of those models, I take off my hat to you (I actually just took my hat off... now I'm cold...)
Chivi'queleste - May 4, 2006 12:34 PM (GMT)
If you even purchased all of those models, on behalf of GW, I thank you. :P
Was this a 'sustained assault' mission where troops were recycled?

They were all painted, but they wernt my models. I have my own Guard army it's 12k fully painted. But theres tanks in there so... The hat off go's to Shelly Alester, who did paint them all.

I did'nt buy them, they wernt mine.

No it was a Dug In mission (made up, a while ago). The troops wernt recycled, thats cheating.
Anyone else know a hardest army then?
Chivi'queleste - May 5, 2006 02:39 AM (GMT)
In missions using the 'sustained assault' special rule, recycling troops is most definitely NOT cheating. :P

That isnt what I ment & you know. It's cheating for collecters & if you game you must collect.
darthken - July 26, 2007 02:21 PM (GMT)
my army: dark elder
opponents army: voystrans (all infantry, no vehicles)
i suffered my worst and only defeat this year. there is just to many models to kill.
i assaulted killed a lot of models but ended up getting bogged down. he then just swamped me with what ever was close.
he didn't fail one moral check the whole game.(how do poxy humans get a Leadership of 10)
Calaith - July 26, 2007 09:20 PM (GMT)
Guard can be very difficult to face because of their volume of troops, and even your cc killers, like my Banshees, can get beaten in cc simply by being swamped by numbers. It's rather frustrating actually.

Spacefrisian - August 1, 2007 10:50 PM (GMT)
My army: Dark Eldar
Opposing army: Spacemarines/ Iron warriors
Bad call on scenery, 2nd to go and plasmamayhem took my firepower away at turn 1, and the very same happened with that IW army.
