Title: Army Backgrounds
Description: What makes your army 'yours'?

Chivi'queleste - July 22, 2006 10:25 PM (GMT)
I like the idea of the IG Regiment thread started recently, and though one for Eldar would be most appropriate. So, what tidbit of fantasy makes your army different from any others? What drives your Eldar forward?

Chivi'queleste's Vendetta

After a failed attempt to manipulate the 'weaker' mind of a mon-keigh (a young SM Libby at that), Farseer Chivi'queleste's plan to annihilate the Imperial presence near an Exodite home world turned disastrous. While the Exodite world was not lost, Chivi could not overcome the burden of grief brought on by the death of many Eldar, lost while defending the planet. Chivi has succumbed to more basic instincts and emotions, vowing to remove any threat to the Exodites before any enemy force can cause harm to their home worlds.

The army doctrine defines a number of multiple lightning quick jabs to the enemy force, causing the enemy to become disorganized before the massive hammer-blow falls. To represent this, only units that can legitimately cross into the opponent’s half of the gaming table during the first turn are permissible. Common to the army are 6 Vypers, 4 Serpents, 2 Falcons, 65 Aspect Warriors, 8 Storm Guardians, 6 Jetbikes, 2 Phoenix Lords, a Farseer on Jetbike (Chivi), and a WiP Vampire Raider. The only other Eldar model I own is an Avatar, which is just a painting project, and is not included in the army without the aid of the Vampire Raider.

The army is designed to fight most effectively within the 2000-3000pt range, though it can be fielded at up to 4000pts. Thus far, it has won one local tourney at 2000pts, after games against an Ork Cult of Speed, Ordo Hereticus Sisters of Battle, and a mixed Infantry/Vehicle/Walker Biel-Tan Eldar force.

Some of the army can be seen in my photobucket, as well as another area of this site. The primary colors are those of Biel-Tan, being Green and Ivory/White. The Green is melded into a marble pattern, while the Ivory will have a stenciled pattern representing various mythological serpents. Gems will be painted as Topaz and Emerald.

Interesting Chivi, nice fluff for your Eldar. Sorry I didn't reply to this topic a while back but I was still working my own fluff out. Going to tell you guys the short, short version of events.

The Morag-Kith, the Exorcists

Kaladin, once a peaceful, but lonesome Craftworld. Being so isolated from other systems of the galaxy, the Craftworld was one of art, poetry and architecture. A wonderful place where Eldar culture thrived beautifuly, and its people were happy, if not ignorant of the dangers of the galaxy. Other Craftworlds were jealous of the Morag-Kith, claiming that the lure of Slaanesh was to strong for them, and they would eventually fall to the Great Enemy. But they did not.

After a vicious warp storm that ravaged the Craftworld and killed thousands upon thousands of its people, a large band of warriors from the Craftworld disapeared into the warp. However, centuries later they re-emerged, changed by the warp in such a way they were no longer the beautiful and alagent warriors they once were, just like the Craftworld itself changed.

The Kaladin no longer, they became known as the Morag-Kith. Their rage, and lust for revenge burns like a white hot flame inside their very souls. They hunt the stench of Chaos where ever it may be present, or however it may manifest. Their skills at hunting the servants of the ruinous powers is matched by none save maybe the Harlequins, who the Morag-Kith have strong ties with.

The Corannir, the last echo of the once beautiful Kaladin Eldar, are now a mourning and revenge filled people. Though they do not have the fighting powers of the Morag-Kith themselves, they will lay down their lives to fight side by side with their black Exorcist brothers. Their Craftworld is now a dark and gothic place, echoing with the horrors, fears and memories of the Kaladin.

Wrath Of Ulthwé

Sai-Bre and Ulthwé have always had a strong bond, Farseer Hairbhinn was best at manipulating this bond. While Farseer Saitha led the grand Army in a pointless campaign alongside her Tau friends, Hairbhinn led a Sai-Bre/Ulthwé force into the midst of Medusa V. While the Grand Council and the Seer Council believed their goal to rescue the Webway, Hairbhinn and Tadhmann of Ulthwé searched for the Heart of Breson. They found it and endangered the webway in order to return to Sai-Bre, holding the gates open until the last moment.

Farseer Saitha learnt of this plot, and confronted Hairbhinn at the stairs of the Temple of Macha. Using the Heart, Saitha's superior prophetic powers were removed and Hairbhinn cut her down. Saitha entered the Heart and Hairbhinn took her power. He has used the Heart to dominate Sai-Bre, and now Sai-Bre's ancient links have been severed as it becomes a tributary of Ulthwé...

My Eldar army is designed withour Guardians and with Aspects that fit a specific tactical niche. My army is about stealth and firepower as opposed to speed. I have no Avengers for instance, I wanted something unique and fun.

The full background for my Craftworld is here:

http://z10.invisionfree.com/The_Craftworld...p?showtopic=351

Basicly every Eldar civilian of the Craftworld is an experienced Ranger and in times of war they either crew warmachines or take to field as Rangers. As a result the Craftworld has no Guardian squads. Further the Craftworld is so oreinated towards stealth that the Aspect warrior shrines are biased towards such tactics. Striking Scorpions are the most common Aspect instead of Avengers.

I think it creates a fun and competitive theme without the need for house rules.

The Army Iyal-Dar

The Army of Iyal-Dar is a much feared force. Lead by a mighty and unique revenant Titan, it is an army of the dead, silent Ghost warriors, Wraithguard make up the body of the army. Three mighty wraith lords, some times called Iyal-Dars praetorians provide fire power and silent spirit seers more atuned to the dead than the living lead the troops , their masks blank and inhuman. Event the few aspect warriors that fight in the army, normally warp spiders, have armour which focuses on their alien predatory nature.
The story of Iyal-Dar is a tragedy and serves as a grim warning to fellow Eldar.
Iyal was once a young and daring war walker commander, he led his squadron against ork and chaos with daring and some would say recklessness. He was ruthless beyond need and whispers spoke of his love for combat beyond what was healthy. During a campaign against imperial human troops his luck ran out, his squadron slain by an armoured company and he wounded. The eldar forces on the planet were in disarry no more war walkers were left only the empty shell of a Wraithlord awaiting a soul stone of a fallen hero. It was then that Iyal- Dar did an unspeakable act for an eldar he begged the spirit seer to take him for the Wraithlord, cutting his own throat with his knife his soul was bound to the Wraithlord shell.
Iyal-Dar was terrfying in his new aspect, skilled beyond the norm for a mighty Wraithlord, possessed of cunning and lacking the Wraithsight of the involuntary dead he was a potent lord of war. Still he craved more power , the spirit seers and farseers began to fear the abomination they had created and yet he was too useful. Few living Eldar would serve with him so he lead an army of the dead. He finally persuaded a spirit seer to bind him into the shell of a mighty Revenant Titan, specially made for him it resembled a huge Wraithlord and it is this form Iyal-Dar has currently. His blood lust has grown and many non eldar settlements have been raised to the ground by the titan’s wrath. Now his band of the dead wander striking against non eldar almost randomly but always in a cold silent ruthless way. Something about Iyal-Dar inspires fear in eldar and few living will serve him, many secretly hope he meets his doom and some whisper that some craftworlds have conspired to try and engineer this, but each time Iyal-Dar survives.

(my iyanden themed army will contain my Titan which i should make good progress on once my wraithlords are finished)

Quick question guys,

We require some content to go on our Wiki Home page, and I thought advertising our members personal fluff skills and the cool imagery behind their Craftworld would be a great idea....well actually I kind of stole it off Boot Camp, but hey...

Would you guys mind if I used some of what you've writen here? PM me if you would like me to put your Craftworlds content here on our Wiki, and it will be done. I am planning to use just what you've written here, but if you wish to write something else, maybe a little longer or detailed, you can. Just remember I only require a few paragraphs for each, nothing huge.

Craftworld Rio-Tal, The Soul Hunters,

The Rio-Tal Craftworld is a mere shadow of it's once great civilization, as is true of most Craftworlds. The Craftworld itself reduced in size and stature during the times of Tyranid invasion, barely the size of a large ship. Only its crystal dome remaining completely in tact, the Rio-Tal have begun to rebuild. Craftsmen and scholars gather via the webway, powerful psychic energies combined from the many Farseers and Warlocks shield and hide the broken world as it regrows, bonesingers work tirelessly until falling from age and exhaustion and rejoin the world they have worked so hard on creating. Life and knowledge are precious to the Rio-Tal.

Only thier young Prince Nosneros seeks greater adventure beyond the regrowth of his home. With a Corsair fleet and the winds of change at his back, the Prince seeks out other Eldar, Exodite and Craftworld alike. He asks of thier woes, he assists in thier defence if need be. Then he seeks to return to them the soul stones taken from thier dead, where ever they have fallen. The crews aboard the Rio-Tal fleet are quick and stealthy, brave beyond measure they seek the return of the fallen to thier proper homes. Accepting trade from the Craftworlds they visit in the form of supplies and volunteer aspects, young Prince Nosneros plies his trade among the stars and brings the Hunter's Wrath upon the enemies of the dying...

Craftworld Eldan, Hope of the Eldar

Eldan is the imbodyment of hope in the eyes of all other craftworlds. Hidden in the webway, the harlequins went to work adapting this mighty vessel to carry a portion of their knowledge, sent to exodites, to recieve the spirit of a world, and existing in tau space forging friendships that benefit both sides, Craftworld Eldan is the imbodyment of hope for all Eldar.

After the fall, the leaders of all respective Craftworlds, Exodite Worlds and Harlequins of the Library gathered on Altansar, the Dead Craft and discussed the future of their race. They Divined a future were the eldar would once and for all escape the clutches of the Great Enemy, though knowing that it would cost the lives of humanity in order to do this. They all agreed that a faction was to be made hence forth to hold this secret until the fall of the great enemy was upon them and to create friendships with other races and to seek out new world to populate. This is how Eldan came to be.

Altansar the Dead Craft would be given life once again, repopulated by Eldar Exodites, defended by donated forces from each craftworld and wielding technology made by the knowledge of the harlequins.

The council of Eldarian all fell on one problem, who shall lead this faction, it was debated that an Uthwe Farseer should be the leader, encompased in acient Eldar wargear found in the black library as well as a spirit seer of Iyanden and a General of Biel Tan. Also an exodite council was to remain at all times on the Craftworld. The harlequins were the last to put in a request and that was that the Craftworld was to be kept a secret from all eldar until the time came. This was granted, and the Eldarian Council departed the Eye of Terra and made arangements. Altensar was rebuilt and repopulated. Wraith constructs were sent from Iyal Dar to navigate the craftworld out of the Eye and deposit it in the Segmentum Solar. It is there were it lies know, and it is there were it will remain until all Eldar hear the Mon-Kai call out in pain that there emporor is dead and Slaanesh sits on his throne. It will be called the Battle for Terra and Humanity, the secret all Eldans must carry.

and so it is that Altansar the Dead Craft became Eldan the Hope Of the Eldar. Lead By Eladr Autarch Eltar Elwunesh and the Eldar Of Hope.

But hope is fading, and the secret has almost been forgotten, by all exept those existing on Eldan and few harliquens who are bound by there own request to keep its existants a secret.

So, often stories return home to those who carry forgotten hope, about the ghost of Altansar that travels the stars between craftworlds.

(Hardrainfalling-notice i used you craftworld. also reading your craftworlds background made me think of what you leader would liik like. it made me think of the eldar codex cover, where there is a picture of a revanent titan with a wraithlord head. i was just wondering if that is what you imagine your leader to look like?)
