sangrian 11th

work in progress

the sangriaan 11th are drawn from the world sangria in the segmentum solar. they were one of the first regiments to be trained on this fortess world. their armour is blue and they specialise in elite fighting forces. the army contains many storm trooper squads as per the grenadier doctrine and are very powerfull in close quarters and at range.

My Imperial Guard army, the Mordian Paramilitary, was borne from my love of the Daemonhunters army list and models. When I entered my first ever tourney, I used Grey Knights and a small Inducted IG detachment and managed to go 1-1-1. I was impressed with the Guard and right then decided to delay the completion of my Daemonhunters and complete an 1850 tourney Guard army. At this point, I have 3000pts completely painted and ready for battle, as can be seen in my photobucket account. The nonsense below is the little fluff I have generated for this army.

Mordian Paramilitary Organization - Colonel Percival G. Butts, Commanding

While very similar in both function and appearance to the more common regiments of the Imperial Guard, the Mordian Paramilitary is in fact a private operation sponsored covertly by senior members of the Ordo Malleus. The Mordian Paramilitary answers directly to Lord Inquisitor Uurian Mai and acts as his clandestine militant right arm, sometimes solely and often jointly with the recognized military order of the Ordo Malleus, the Grey Knights. The following is a quick breakdown of the Mordian Paramilitary operation.

The operation recruits only from acceptable candidates gleaned from various orphanages and centers-for-the-young located within the sub-sector surrounding the lifeless planet, Mordia. While young men and women are raised and instructed at these institutions, they are also indoctrinated into the imperial faith and more specifically, into Lord Mai’s personal dogma. Those showing promising ‘talents’ are directed to further their abilities in the service of the Inquisition, while those showing a military aptitude are strongly encouraged to enlist in the Mordian Paramilitary.

Funding for this program is quite erratic and often scarce, forcing the Mordian Paramilitary to assume strong infantry tactics as most battle tanks and transport vehicles are too costly. The few vehicles that are maintained in the Mordian Paramilitary armory, while currently in good repair, were salvaged post-battle. High-strength plasma and laser weaponry, though quite prized by the chief officers of the Mordian Paramilitary, is too expensive to maintain and usually sold or bartered for low-tech ballistic weaponry. The armory boasts many missile and ballistic weapons, but has very few battle tanks and chimera transports, and only a handful of Cadia-class sentinels.

***To fit this fluff, several restrictions have been placed on the army and are followed to the letter.

Only those Troops, Fast Attack, and Heavy Support options listed as possible inducted guard units in Codex: Daemonhunters are permitted in the army. HQ and Elite choices may be chosen as normal.

No weapons of strength higher than 8 are permitted in the army, and no heavy weapons with an armor penetration value of less than 3 are permitted, whether man-portable, or vehicle-mounted.

Commissars are not permitted, as the Ordo Malleus directs this regiment, and not the Lords of Terra and the Imperial Guard command structure. Priests and especially Psykers are encouraged.

My regiment is the Osarian 10th. I fight primarily with the 1st Company, a.k.a, "The Undertakers", and I currently have around about the 1250 point mark, but they will be increased with more infantry soon. Below is a link to a rough outline of their history/fluff/etc:

34th Tallarn Infantry “The Angel Killers”

The Tallarn 34th infantry were formed from survivors of a massacre where chaos space marines of the Iron warrior’s legion caught and destroyed a large Tallarn force on a desert world. The chaos marines’ heavy weapons and tanks destroyed all the Imperial guards’ armoured vehicles in a well-planned attack. The survivors escape the slaughter with only their sentinels and thanks largely to their Mukaali desert animals, which allowed them to cross a harsh salt desert to the evacuation point. Vowing vengeance the 34th specialise in weapons for use against the fallen legions and distain any vehicles after the defeat. Instead the regiment uses Mukaali as pack animals to carry their equipment and men into the combat zone where they dismount. A few of the chosen are allowed to ride Mukaali into battle, a great honour. The regiment’s love for their somewhat ugly mounts has lead to some less than flattering nicknames, but their combat record stands for itself.

Ah, I love roll calls.

The Carathian 6th Shock Infantry

Based, unsurprisingly, on the hostile ice world of Carathia, the 6th has developed a very unique manner of combat over its millennia-long history. Their homeworld constsis largely of sprawling ice wastes, which makes large-scale warfare something left solely to the tanks. Mere infantrymen simply cannot survive long enough in the open cold.

The vast majority of the planetary population, however, do not inhabit the frigid plains which cover 77% of Carathia's surface. Instead, they have moved into advanced hive cities nestled in the planet's equatorial (and only) mountain range. Such is the terrain of the mountains that the large plains tanks of the Carathian Guard cannot penetrate to the cities. This fact became painfully apparent when an invasion led by the Night Lords Chaos Space Marines decimated the Carathain civillian corps. The Guard were forced to leave their armored support behind and move into the cities on foot. Though they were eventually successful in purging the taint of Chaos from Carathia, the Guard was throughly depleted.

Following the invasion, Lord Inquisitor Kulark of the Ordo Malleus arrived in-system, having been sent by the High Lords to investigate the rumors of war in the Carathian Sector. He found the planet reeling from the recent onslaught, and moved rapidly to secure the world. A string of Inquisitorial Fortresses were constructed along the equatorial range, and the Guard was rebuilt.

The modern day finds Carathia home to a staggering array of Imperial military might. The Guard has been fully reformed, and now is split into two branches. The Carathain Assault Brigades patrol the barren ice plains from their massive armored vehicles, while the Shock Troops, a new formation of heavy infantry, secures the mountains. Joining these forces is the Carathian Navy, a rather impressive collection of missile frigates and bombardment craft often "borrowed" by Inquisitors. To the Carathians, you see, nothing is lost in a brief bombardment of the plains, so long as it destroys the enemy.

This "victory at all costs" mentality has found the Carathians many friends among the Inquisition, and it is a rare sight indeed to find a Carathian military unit lacking Inquisitorial support.

Total Army Size (Including Inquisitorial Units and Super-Heavies): 10,000 Points

Interesting...

Well, let me have a go at this...

The Nocturian XVII, the Night Stalkers.

Give or take, depending on wargear between 4 and 5 k of them. All of them are based on metal Catachans and Ghosts, with the odd random metal model thrown in. I do have a love of the Delaque models from Necromunda. And my leader is based on a Yeld Sprye. To get the whole story is a LOOOOONG bit of Fluff that i might post some time. (Being on a forum run by Cal makes me a little self conscious though... )

Anyways, their homeworld is Nocturia, a night world that has a unique ecosystem that thrives on the darkness. Matching their homeworld, the Nocturians have very pale skin and very sensative light coloured eyes. Whenever they are not in darkness they require glare shields for their eyes. They excell at fighting at night, where their natural abilities make them great at stelth work, and they have turned the tide of many battles.

They are often accompanied by allies from the Inquisition.

Usually i field only 1850 to 2k lists, so i have quite a few lists, depending on who i'm playing. I never use plasma, as i generally kill myself more than the opponents. I disdane from Heavy Weapons, as i like a mobile force, so generally stick only too 2 mortar support squads. I do have a few Lascannons, Heavy Bolters, and Autocannons, but their purely for show. I love Demo Charges... WOOT! The only constant in my lists is 3 Basalisks with Improved Comms, and the Drop Troops Doctrine, and my Inquisitor Lord and Callidus assassin.

Vostroyan Firstborn

well theyre vostroyans... themed 100% for cityfight although they handle themselves quite well in normal games if they manage to get close enough

the limited vostroyan range has forced me to adjust but the army is capable of both static and mobile warfare in city fight with numerous speacial weapons and heavy weapons in the squads incase the situation arrises.

i have around 60-70 vostroyan models (not counting the 9 heavy weapon teams) and im buying some tanks for them as soon as my living arangements permit me to do so. (namely a demolisher and chimera, thats right a chimera in cityfight =P )
