Hi everyone,

A topic raised on this board not so long ago was the inquiery about getting a new forum banner. Now that Euleze has thrown up the Warvault banner next to our current puny one, I think its time we got something a little larger to go with it. Krazyboris has kindly agreed to make this for us, so firstly a big thankyou to him.

I was thinking something as big as the Warvault one, but maybe a little longer to take up more space, seeming we obviously aren't Warvault. But I didn't want a larger replica of our current banner.

Not being able to decide upon a new design, I thought I'd come to you guys to see what you think. I thought I'd give you all a say in what happens around seeming this site is for you.Obviously not everyone will be able to cram in their ideas, so for the moment we'll just throw a few things into the air and people can pick what ideas they like most.

If two or more members heavily disagree on the design then I'm afraid we'll have to go for a majority rules vote, or work it out some other way if there are no majority. I don't expect you guys to be fighting over it, but I won't tolerate it. This is supposed to be a light hearted community thing.

For the design itself I was thinking a blue to keep the colour scheme of the site, and current Eldar codex. Maybe a similar design but like I said I don't want to be boring and have the exact same banner....

Anywho, what do you guys think?

EDIT: Just a side note if anyone was wondering, the current banner will still be used to represent us on Warvault, and people can of course carry it in their signatures if you wish.

At the moment, I don't really have too many ideas rushing into my head, but if we get some ideas cropping up, we should turn it into a poll, and that way we ca have what the majority like.

I'm by no means an expert at designing images, but I might have a go at something simple a bit later.

Couple of starting points to mull over:-

*Characters in the banner, like Avatar, Harly's, Dark Eldar,
*Wraithbone, or industrial
*Clean or grungy
*Colourful, small amount, or almost Monochromatic
*Amount of text, and catch phrases (or not)

I'll post some scratchy ideas soon.

Very nice, I like it.

It might even pay to stick with the banner we have for the moment, as there is going to be a heck of a lot of new Eldar artwork out over the next three or four months (although it would just make sense to change it now, and then later if any batter artwork comes along I suppose)

I also really like that. We could have an early winner!

I really like the idea of a clean nearly monochromatic banner, and like the one presented but for one thing...

We need to keep any published photos out of the banner. Whatever is there needs to be original. It can be drawn, painted, flat, or modeled, but it needs to be something that GW cannot lay direct claim to.

True, but look over the net, most banners have copyrighted images in them (C'tan support group for one), as long as your not using them for advertising a business, I dont think they really care.

Plus, your not really supposed to re-create images of their minis (the necron lord I drew in my sig for one) as it can lead back to the copyrighted images of the designer's.

Dont think this banner will cause in issues in that sense, but if it is a concern we try something different.

I agree with KB, there are plenty of sites that use banners with copyright pictures in them and thus far none have recieved any trouble. Just as long as we say that the pictures and word "Craftworld" are all property of GW.

Thus far I'm thinking:

Characters: Something from both Eldar and Dark Eldar.

Some Wraithbone kind designs in it, still similar to the Codex front cover....

Coloured blue probably, like the rest of the site...maybe a little darker though, and with some texture

Wouldn't want to clutter it up with words at this point. Only: The Craftworld


I must say I'm a little disapointed at the lack of interest here, I half expected you guys to come running! Brak, Euleze, beil-tarun, hardrainfalling, Meaphet, Concerta? Any of you guys got some input?

it actully sounds pretty good to me cal. though where would harlequins fit into that?
