Title: Just over 300 in store credit?!!?
force_of_will - December 22, 2005 06:06 AM (GMT)
im trading in all my shitty rares and commons to neutral ground. on a rough estimate, i will be getting nearly 300 (plus or minus) for my troubles..
the question is.. what to get..
they have just about everything you could want...
the choices that i was considering was..
bad condition power (mox ruby, jet) (some where 270)
2 italian drains (150 each)
1 english drain (200)
workshop (225)
bazzar (225?)
neutral ground also has a wide selections of duals (35-40 each) however i would like to avoid these if possible because my friend andrew already has alot of duals (including all 16 blue) so im not in desperate need of them.
everyone keep in mind that this is more of an investment..
team abs members keep in mind, that i will be able to lend these card(s)
any thoughts?
:EDIT: after thinking about it, i realized that this really doesnt belong in this forum.. im soo tired.. mods please move it to the right forum (the lounge i think)
imopen2 - December 22, 2005 06:11 AM (GMT)
is it in store cred?
i think if it is cash you should take it to ebay and buy things for way better prices than they are offering.
if it is cred i would get the jet and meebe 1 dual.
jet will go up and although i think if you got a shit load of duals they would go up more...jet is just hela cool.
EnialisLiadon - December 22, 2005 06:13 AM (GMT)
I vote 2 italian Drains...2 proxy slots > 1 proxy slot.

ok so we have 2 italian drains.
and 1 for the jet
Phantom Ogre - December 22, 2005 06:42 AM (GMT)
My vote goes to the Italian Mana Drains.

i would too say the drains if it wasn't such a horrid deal...i mean, i could probly get 3 for that much easy.. :nono:
i guess do the drains for the extra slots but MAN that's a stupid price.

I agree, but they're still the best investment on the list in regards to the future.
Veru - December 22, 2005 07:02 AM (GMT)
You've got one more vote for the italian drains instead of the other equally horrendously overpriced cards.
Also,(according to the ads) Donald Trump is somehow remotely related to this thread.
Hi-Val - December 22, 2005 07:16 AM (GMT)
FALLEN EMPIRES BOXES!
Get the power. The drains of all kinds are overpriced. Also, if you don't have the little things, pick those up instead. FOW, Crypt, Duals, fetches, Cunning Wish, Welder, Smokestack, etc all add up here and there, and I'd much rather have $300 in many cards instead of just one.
But get the power. 270 is too good on any power save Twister. It all plays the same and Drains are far easier to come across anyway.
Stew - December 22, 2005 07:23 AM (GMT)
I vote for the Mox, however, you need to get the Mox Sapphire, not Jet. Jet would be my second vote.
You'll just find that later on, you'll never have $300 to really put towards cards in a one-time purcahse. You're very likely to talk yourself into spending 150-175, thus you'll most likely be able to buy Drains at some point, where Moxen would be out of the question.
HarborMastr - December 22, 2005 08:50 AM (GMT)
I agree, if you can get the Sapphire, go for it. But if you cant, nab the jet. The drains can be bought later for less than 120 a piece (italian).
Adam - December 22, 2005 09:00 AM (GMT)
Always go for the biggest item you can. Drains are going to keep rising, and are annoying to get a playset of with the price right now, but power is always huge, and its value rises quicker than non-restricted powerfull stuff.

well as a player i would agree, but i would rarely use them unless i comeback, and that isnt for certain yet.
i personally own FoWs (i mean i have to with my sn ;)) and i can borrow the rest of the cards that you mentioned from my friend andrew. and since he has them already, i think it would be better to diversify for mine, and the sake of my team(s)
those price for drains are alittle, extreem... jeez i remember the days when i got drains off of ebay for 20 bucks..
so we are pretty much split between the power and the drains...
no love for the shops or bazaares?

EDIT: Get whatever you want or what're you planning to play in the future.
Lyle H - December 22, 2005 12:02 PM (GMT)
i would never pay more than 80 a piece for italian drains. get power.
FallenOmnipotent - December 22, 2005 01:27 PM (GMT)
Well you can easily trade itallian drains for about $100 - 110. 110 for an itallian one is a bit steep, but you can do it. I would acctually probably hang on to the credit and see if you can cash/trade it in various ways there. For example, you pay for alota people's tourney entries and they give you their cash. Or you can use it to trade for other people's Mana Drains/Power at most lickly a better price. That's what I would do. Otherwise, wait for the next set and see if you can buy a case from them for fairly cheap (you'll be adding in additional cash obviously). Then you can either open the case or sell the boxes/packs. If you open the case, you know how to open it by print order and stuff right? Or get a scale and onlly open foil ones.
PS. Just for the record, I've never scaled, looked at print order...but that's probably because I don't have the money to.
Adam - December 22, 2005 04:25 PM (GMT)
I'll say it again man, get power. Get freaking power.
Power power power power power power power power power power power power power power power power power power power power power.
Ok? It's that easy.
supa_tim - December 22, 2005 05:43 PM (GMT)
Hrm....power seems like the best choice for an investment. Drains are playable and everything, but power is the right investment.

.....
im retired.. more than likely i will not use them especially if its vintage staples.. the only way im going to use it is if, by some miricle, i go to waterbury.
im looking for investment/adding to team card pool.
leaving it store credit wouldnt really be adviseable, because it isnt a local store, and i dont go there often, even when i was playing regularly.
goblinmatt - December 23, 2005 07:43 PM (GMT)
You cant really buy "small stuff" at neutral ground.Therapys are $5 so I assume fetches are around $15
When you go to trade them in would you want to play in an ext tourny?

force_of_will - January 8, 2006 09:39 PM (GMT)
bull shit!!!
aparently Neutral ground has a policy with store credit...
my credit is cut in half when i try and buy "expensive type 1 staples" i.e. no drain, workshops, and power :(
so i used my credit, to pick up a set of underground seas (1 unlimited) and 2 packs of italian legends (they claimned not to looked inside)
speaking of which.. does anyone know the trick to see inside the packs of legends without opening them????
Lyle H - January 9, 2006 01:11 AM (GMT)
use a lot of light
slide cards towards the top of the sleeves one at a time if possible
you MIGHT be able to tell what kind of card each is
different packs use different orders. Like the rare in one spot and the uncommons in another. You have to look at the cards and see if you can tell what it there.
Its hard as hell.

Wow, thats laaaaaaaaaaame.
But good haul with the duals. I want duals.

Yeah you really should have said something. They never said anything about that and its not listed anywhere.
I bet if you said you would call the whole thing off they would give in because of the hours they spent counting everything up :)

I'm not that poor.
Anyway, I think their policy on "expensive T1 staples" is lame. Wouldn't it be better business to allow full store credit on everything?
Lyle H - January 10, 2006 02:40 AM (GMT)
No. Money is the purpose of expensive staples. Have you ever REALLY sat around at a shop and watched how much more cheap cards are traded for than purchased?
Although it sucks for FoW, it makes sense from a business standpoint to not let him pick up the cash cards.

Ok, thats a good point. I'm never around the singles counter for more than 5-10 minutes, just to get what I need than leave.
But I guess it is better business. Sucks for us and FoW, but it seems sound.

o yes, i was forced into understanding.. but they could have atleast poosted this policy .. somewhere..

Oh for sure. So they took the cards before telling you that? THat seems a bit shady.

goblinmatt - January 14, 2006 03:56 PM (GMT)
