Title: The Most Electrifying Format of Magic!

ShadyPhoenix - October 25, 2005 05:10 PM (GMT)
I am a 5-Color whore.

I love the format so very very much. However, since I haven't played the real life Magics in god know how long, I have zero motivation to actually get up and make a real 5-Color deck. That doesn't mean I don't want to play, however. Because I do. A lot. I just spent an hour in Solitaire on MWS playing my deck against my same deck, and because 5-Color is so initially random, it was actually really fun to play.

So I suppose I should ask any of you if you want to play 5-Color Magics with me. I'm sure Skankhair would be down, but what about the rest of you? If you're actually too dumb to know what 5-Color is, redeem yourself.

Realize that I don't play 5-Color competitively. To me, it's simply a crazy format where I can play both broken cards without necessarily winning immediately afterwards and pet cards that are just plain cool. Hell, today, while playing with myself, one deck recurred Contract 4 times. And still lost. Because the other deck was running "jank" like Horn of Greed, Mind's Eye, and Future Sight.

:joygasm:

5-C is like no other.

Sadly, the 5C council and community are pretty clueless as far as deckbuilding, playing magic, and for that matter, living. It's a bummer that they'll be restricting things like freaking Muddle the Mix because omg, it happens to get Time Walk and Time Walk is the dumbest card in the format!

Basically, Time Walk needs to be banned and Contract restricted before the format entertains me again. That's not to say that it's not a fun game though; I still have my deck thrown together, but I rarely play it anyway and play even more rarely now.

Maybe.

If I ever feel like getting MWS to work.

Edit:

Fuck.

Now I want to build a 5c deck aka buy magic cards again.

DAMN YOU CHANCE

I'll play if I can ever find my old MWS deck :\

I've also thought the unwillingness to ban cards like contract is just flat out stupid. In my opinion the format has probably hit critical mass already, but there's no incentive to start breaking it, so it just stagnates instead of degenerating to the point where they'll get off their asses and fix it.

Shady, I still think mental magic will always be > 5 color.

Can you post a normal decklist I could steal to use?

ShadyPhoenix - October 28, 2005 06:13 PM (GMT)
Honestly, Snip, I agree that 5-Color is broken beyond all comprehension. This does not keep me from enjoying the format casually, however. I only play in a Casual manner, where the goal isn't to win, but have fun. And 5-Color is extraordinarily fun. When you can recur Contract twice but still lose, that's a fun, interesting format. It really is like reliving your scrub days, but having a clue as to what the hell you're doing.

In that case, why not play WORMS instead?

Vintage is the most fun competitively casual format, in my book.
