Description: Happy Germans dancing their asses off

Moskau, Moskau!

Oh dear god. That video/song is pure GOLD.

Just incase anyone is wondering, here is the translation for the song: (Lyrics courtesy of me)

On your welfare brother! He! Ho!

Moscow, Moscow
Throw your glasses to the wall
Russia is a beautiful country

Moscow, Moscow
Your soul is so large
The devil is loose there all night long

Moscow Moscow
We love to eat kaviar
Girls are to kiss it

Moscow, Moscow
Come we dance on the table
We'll dance until the table breaks

*Long dramatic pause/lalalalala etc.

Moscow, Moscow
One drinks vodka pure and cold
It makes you a hundred years old

Moscow, Moscow
Father your glass is empty
In the cellar there is more

Moscow, Moscow
Kosaken - he - he - he - lifts the glasses
Natascha - ha - ha - ha - You are beautiful
Tovarisch - he - he - he - on that would love

On your welfare brother! He! Ho!

**Song repeats

Keep an eye on "Dr.Evil" (the guy in blue). Notice how he keeps screwing up while dancing.

Ganghis Santa and the guy in black that resembles Keanu Reeves is hilarious as well.

I actually convinced my German teacher to play it in class.

We watch it nearly everyday at the end of class. The whole damn class sings along, and most of us have it memorized by heart.

Hell, even the Frenchies next door have half the damn song memorized.

I'd be one of those frenchies--I'll do them one better: I'll memorize the whole song! I've been listening/watching to it over and over and over again...can't get enough...

I didn't watch the video but I assume this is the Rammstein song. I like that song alot.

KMFDM is a german band right?

Its not the Rammstein video.

Its a song from 1979 by a band called "Dschinghis Khan" (German translation of Ganghis Khan).

Yes the Rammstein song Moskau is also great. Hell, in my opinion, nearly everything they do is great. Watch the "Keine Lust" video.

KMFDM is a German band.

You need to watch the video though, seriously, just like EnialisLiadon said, you can't get enough of it.

It really confuses me why the song is in German but the song is about Russia.

How the hell do you find shit like this?

1979. Think east germany.

And this really is a great find. Communism in the 70s with germans. How can something like that not be fucking awesome? The reverent whisper of "Mos-cow...Mos-cow!" from the one in red was another bit of solid fucking gold.

It was sent to me by me German pin-pal.

After seeing it, I told her that from now on, she should just send me every damn music video she finds if they are like that one.

The fact that she lookes identical to my aunt makes it even greater for me. That look on her face when she says "Mos-kau" for the second time (she looks like someone shoved a grapefruit up her ass) is the look my aunt has on her face 24/7.

As Veru said, remember that this is Germany circa 1979. The Berlin wall has yet to come down, and the country isn't reunited yet. The song is making fun of Russia (and its capital) in a sarcastic way.

Are you SURE it's a joke? Becasue I found this:

Then again, I guess it's possible that only the lyrics were satirical, and that they were just plain insane in any case.

I so need to buy one of their CDs. Their crappiness truly trancends into pure, inadvertant comedic genius.

The band itself is not a joke, even though the song "Moskau" itself is a satire.

The best musical director in Germany (at the time) needed to get a band together for the 1979 national European music contest type thing.

He convinced his friend (the guy in the santa outfit) to join/make a band. Together they made "Dschinghis Khan".

They went to the awards, got 4th place, and went home. However, the songs "Dschinghis Khan" and "Moskau" became huge hits in Germany and Japan.

The band then lost the interest of people, and disbanded. In 1985-ish they came back together, and split apart again.

They were going to do a reunion type in 1997, but the lead singer (guy in santa outfit) died of AIDS in south africa.

However, the song/dance routine is just flat out awesome, so I had to show it to people.

My German class is considering the option of pooling money to buy one off of amazon.com
