Title: PEBBLES is fine
Description: In for regular Check up
Pet_Bunny - June 17, 2005 12:32 AM (GMT)
Back from the Vet for a check up. This was the vet who fostered Pebbles after Pebbles was left there to be euthanzied by her original owners.
It was a good visit as all the staff had to come out to see Pebbles. They couldn't believe how big she got. She's only a Netherland Dwarf. :P
Here she is getting her tummy and organs felt, her fur is good and shiny ....

Listening to her heartbeat, a little fast (just nervous)......

Getting her teeth checked....

And her ears checked...

Weighed 2.1 lbs. ..... Have to cut back on the treats.
Temperature 101* F normal range is 101.4* to 104* F.... One cool bunny B)
Poops were good...round and lots of fiber.
Pebbles got through it just fine. She peed in her carry box on the way to the vet, peed on the nurse when she got her temperature check, and peed in her box again on the way home. She must be getting lots of water, even though I don't see her drinking much. <_<
She was a little upset when she got home. Must be waiting for her new toy. She ignored me for about a
minute and then was licking me again. :P

How could ANYONE want to euthanize that little ball of fluff?! You must have an awesome Vet, bet she likes seeing Pebbles now and then. What a lucky bunny, in many ways!! Glad everything went well.
Dwarf_Angel04 - June 17, 2005 02:47 AM (GMT)
Does Pepples weight 2 pounds 1 ounces or 2 pounds 10 ounces?
If its 2 pounds 1 ounce theres no need to keep back on treats! If its 2 pounds 10 ounces... how much pellets does she get a day?
Pet_Bunny - June 17, 2005 03:07 AM (GMT)
Hehe...that's 2 pounds 1 ounce........or .95 kilos
1/8 cup of Oxbow Basic T pellets per day. :D
Jenn - June 17, 2005 03:13 AM (GMT)
I'm glad Pebbles is healthy! I love the pictures! She is so adorable!! :)

Oh!! I see no need for you to cut back her diet!
She looks to be a nice healthy weight. Remember the average weight for a
Netherland Dwarfs is 2 pounds to 2 1/2 pounds.
I would keep at what you are doing and wouldn't cut back on anything. However, if you reall want to cut back on treats then I would up her feed to 1/4 cup.
Normally the rule of thumb with feeding is 1 ounce of pellets per pound of rabbit. I've got Netherland Dwarfs, Dwarf Hotots, and Polish (all the same size 2- 2 1/2 pounds) and all are fed 1/4 cup of feed. However, it is an alfalfa based pellet.
Again, I wouldn't cut back on her treats/feed as what you seem to be doing is working well! You know whats best for your rabbit but please take this into consideration. :pinkbun:

That's great she's got a good bill of health.
I love the way you recorded the check up  She's one very lucky bunny to have you.

Glad to hear Pebbles is okay! :) Did she come out of her carrier for you? When Sunny was getting an exam prior to his neuter the vet and I had to dissassemble the carrier 'cause he wouldn't get out. When I tried to pull him out of the door, he would stick his legs out so I couldn't pull him through...bunnies are so stubborn!
Anyway, again I'm happy she's doing well! :D
Delphinum - June 17, 2005 11:38 AM (GMT)
LOL That's what my bunnies do too Kelly!
Glad Pebbles got a clean bill of health, she looks like she got a thorough going over anyway! :D

The original owners bought Pebbles from a pet shop and discovered she was pregnant from a much larger bunny. They didn't want to pay the medical expenses, and left Pebbles at the vets office to be euthanized.
The doctor had the owners release Pebbles to her and fostered her until a new family would take care of her. That is how I got Pebbles.
During the pregnancy Pebbles almost died. She delivered one stillborn by C-section and the doctor said the baby was just as large as the mother. Pebbles was also spayed while she was at the clinic.
So the worst is behind her and she is living in her forever home.
bunnylover52691 - June 17, 2005 08:41 PM (GMT)
So glad Pebbles is ok then. That is sad about what happened to her. I did not know that. But she is now with you and has no problems!!

Oh good! that means Pipp is a good weight as well, seeing as she's probably the same as Pebbles. She clocked in at .9 kg a few months ago. She actually gets unlimited pellets, but she's not a real pig of a rabbit -- unless we're talking oats. ;) And she gets plenty of exercise. Pebbles looked a bit chunky to me at first, as does Pipp, but I think its just that Pebbles' coat is bunched up in the photo, and Pipp is getting a bit of a dewlap. :) Thanks for the chance to compare bunnies!

oh hey, just reading this
she is so pretty! yep i agree with DA she's probably a healthy weight. but you should feel base it on how she feels, not so much on how she weighs.
 seems weird to see them checking the teeth and ears like that!
congrats on the healthy checkup
Bo B Bunny - June 20, 2005 12:57 AM (GMT)
She is gorgeous! I love her face in that first pic! "Whoa! watch it lady! that's my tummy you're messing with!"
What did the vet think of you taking photos? I think that's a great idea! Dr. Doug might get warned to have a haircut in October LOL!
I can't imagine someone giving Pebbles up for such a horrid fate. She's so precious! :lurve:

Never ever seen a bag of Woody Pet! I want to buy it but my mom found out the price from TSC and said it was to expensive since we pay like 10$ for ours.
Pet_Bunny - September 27, 2006 09:18 PM (GMT)
I tried posting these last week, but it took so long to load and I kept losing it in cyberspace before I can get them on. And some how Picasa had some upgrades to their system and all my pictures look so yellow, dark and coarse (grainy). :evilbun:
Well we had Pebbles in for her annual Check Up, Sept 13/06.

In the waiting room. :innocent:

I don't want to see the Doctor... :ph43r:

The Doctor was so happy to see how well Pebbles was. :happybun:
And she still mentions that I was the right person to adopt Pebbles from her.

Her weight was perfect, no comments about being overweight this time. :P
1.3 Kg / 2 lbs 13 oz.
Pet_Bunny - September 27, 2006 09:25 PM (GMT)

Her fur is real nice and shiny. Body feels good, not too boney. :)
She just finished her moult a week ago.

Teeth in excellent shape, checked for spurs (none).

Organs feel good. :spice:

Heart beat normal.
Pet_Bunny - September 27, 2006 09:30 PM (GMT)

This is the part Pebbles hates. :evilbun:

Couldn't hold her long enough to get a temperature. And Pebbles pees on the Doctor again.

Where's my TREATS? ;)
ILoveNepo - September 27, 2006 09:59 PM (GMT)
I'm glad Pebbles is doing good, I love the 2nd pic :P
Bo B Bunny - September 28, 2006 03:34 AM (GMT)
WOW! What great pics! Poor Pebbles! you embarassed her by putting the thermometer photo on here!
Why aren't you in those photos? hmmm ? <_<
I have to tell you, I laughed out loud when I saw the "organ check" photo! I don't think Pebbles was real thrilled about that one!
MyBunnyLovesMe - September 28, 2006 03:39 AM (GMT)
She's such a lil cutie :) Glad she's okay!!
Whats wrong with her nose in the last pic...

Cinnabun is right, Pebbles was smacking her lips expecting a treat. After all, she was probed and checked over, and remained quite calm through the whole ordeal, until it came to the temperature part. :nurse:
