Title: Guess the breed!
Kismet - May 17, 2005 08:22 PM (GMT)

No cheating! ;)
Whoever guesses the breed correctly first, gets to find a picture of another breed and post it here. And so on! :) Tip: It's a medium sized breed UNDER 7 pounds.

ILoveNepo - May 17, 2005 09:00 PM (GMT)
Even though I don't have a clue right now, I know I'm going to go  when I hear the right answer lol

Kismet - May 17, 2005 09:28 PM (GMT)
Yep, it's a Havana! :) They are underappreciated, lol! They have very goofy personalities. Jim gets to post the next breed!
ILoveNepo - May 17, 2005 10:30 PM (GMT)
I've heard of Havanas, but wouldn't have guessed lol I guess I was wrong

YIPEE!!!!
:woot:
I'm not good at breeds at all!!!
We think Benji may be a havana. We almost named him "Ashe" because of his fuzzy grey feet....looked like he had run through ashes.
They come in black and dark brown, right?? Something about the color of Cuban cigar tobacco??
Now this should be easy..... :)
TIP: It is one of the few tricolored rabbits (black, golden-orange, and white). Also refered to as "The Calico of the Fancy." And I want one.
Dwarf_Angel04 - May 18, 2005 02:28 PM (GMT)
That would one of those running breeds.... <_<
Rhinelander... :innocent:
Delphinum - May 18, 2005 02:43 PM (GMT)
JimD - May 18, 2005 03:00 PM (GMT)
And D_A is right  !!.... It's a Rhinelander. She gets to post the next breed!
I think they're neat. I'm a sucker for anything tri-color or calico...buns, cats, dogs, horses, etc.
What's a "running breed"? (told ya i was bad at this stuff!!)
Dwarf_Angel04 - May 18, 2005 03:10 PM (GMT)
Running breeds are breeds that are not posed when being shown.
They are to run up and down the table and to be judged on their formation etc. I'm not exactly sure how they are judged. <_<
I do know that I don't like them LOL! I'm in for the calm posing show style. :innocent:
The running breeds are the Full-Arched body type rabbits:
Checkerd Giant
Tan
Rhinelander
English Spot
Belgian Hare
Britannia Petite
While the posed breeds are the compact, commerical, cylindrica, and semi-arched body type breeds.
I'm working on my 'breed' to expose. However, I'm gonna describe the rabbit rather then post a picture. I find it 'too' easy to have a photo. :P
Delphinum - May 18, 2005 03:40 PM (GMT)
Those are all the ones I love!
We had 2 belgian hare crosses in the rescue, one of which has gone to a home and which will be going, and they're lovely. Such gorgeous eyes! :D

One to meet the 'requirements' of everyone needs/wants. :P
Delphinum - May 18, 2005 03:45 PM (GMT)
Yup and I love it! :D Plus all the crossbreeds too! :D
Dwarf_Angel04 - May 18, 2005 09:48 PM (GMT)
Guess this breed:
Weight: Mature weight anywhere from 5 1/2 pounds to 7 1/2 pounds.
Compact body type
Only comes in one variety
Color:
Underocar is to be dark slate blue at the base; intermediate portion of pearl to be as light as possible' with top edge being very narrow black, brightly ticked with jet black guard hairs of uneven length. Neck fur to be lighter in color than body.
Fur: fur on body to be 1 1/8 to 1 3/8 inches in length; ideal 1 1/4 inches...very dense and of fine texture.
If ya'll need assistance I can later post a photo! Lets see if ya can guess it first. :innocent:

Is it a Standard Chinchilla?

Thanks! Took me forever to think of it...I had to go through most of the compact breeds in my head, lol.
Try this one:

Hint: It has a 2 and 1/2 lb weight limit (I'm almost positive, I'll double check later) it's a running breed and it's NOT a Netherland Dwarf!

 dang it this is not FAIR! i love this stuff but i keep forgeting this thread is here, :crybaby: and now there is nothing for me to guess at :boohoo:!!!!!!!!
i'm feeling grumpy so i am going to correct everybody <_<
Brits and hares are NOT running breeds but full-arch posed breeds. with their hyper personalities if they were running breeds they'd go crazy.
and jim, havanas come in black, dark blue, and your cuban cigar chocolate. also lilac and brokens are being presented. www.wildfirerabbitry.com has the most beautiful havana ever. it won BIS at peoria.
Dwarf_Angel04 - May 21, 2005 01:13 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the correction.....

I LOVE that Havana. I had it on my desktop forever....gorgeous rabbit. (And thanks for the corrections, I don't know much about the full arch breeds although I adore them - I want a Checkered Giant someday!)
Okay here goes:
- comes in one variety
- has a pinkish tint to the surface fur (can't say more or it'd give it away)
- similar to the commercial breeds but is actually a compact and 4 class breed
- ideal weight of 6 to 7 and 1/2 lbs
- roll back fur
