Title: Bunnies in Petshops.
Description: Can you resist from buying one...

Here are some notes about Pet Shops in our area.

I heard PetSmart has started selling rabbits in some of their stores in the US.
So I went to one local PetSmart to check it out. An employee never heard of it, but she said it would be easy to set up a rabbit display in their small animal section.
At the same time, a local rescue group is busy adopting out many homeless cats and dogs at that store.

I also heard PJ Pets took over the SuperPets stores. In their advertising campaign, they offered $200 credit to the animals bought from them if they would be fixed by a vet.
I don't know if this would apply to rabbits.

Here is a favorite bunny of the staff at Petcetera. The lionhead will be going on sale at half price.

I went to several petshops over the weekend.
Here are a few pictures from all the different stores.

This is a pretty Holland Lop. The cuteness factor saying, " Buy Me! Buy Me!"
Is this impulse or what?

A shy Dutch peeping out from his hiding place.

These bunnies are pressed against the glass compartment.

Looks like the bunny on the right, had some ink spilled on him when his ears were getting tattooed.

Bunnies sold for $10.00 These must be rejected ones, and used as loss leaders to bring people into the store.
They only charge $10.00 for the rabbit if you buy the large deluxe cage at the same time.

A whole bunch of baby Dutch.

The sign says it all.

Many rabbits spend their time, in these glass fixtures.
Only a few lucky ones, find a forever home.

When we go to the pet store to get hay and pellets and a few other things we love seeing the bun buns. But they always have one or two in a tiny cage :( . It makes me sooooooooo sad when i see them. We are having a problem right now with Clover's cage, it is too small for her and we need a new one but they are soooo expinsive.

I love the bunnies though. I want those chestnut dutches! :crybaby:

I was able to get my cage at an animal shelter. It was like brand new but less than half the price of a new one.
You can also build with NIC panels which is the cheapest way to go.

Is it bad that I feel very morose looking at these pictures?

No Ang, it's not. I kinda felt the same way. We love our bunnies and take the best care possible of them. Who knows where these precious little buns will end up...will the family get sick of them after a few months and just dump them off somewhere? Will the new owner do proper research on feeding and care of the bunny? Those were some of the thoughts going thru my mind when I was looking at the pics......sigh......

so many bunnies.....so little time.....

I just sit and wonder... who's going to take home all of those rabbits?! :???: There's a reason I don't agree with needless breeding and those pictures point to exactly what I mean. *shrugs* Not really making a point here, just thinking out loud really.

We use NIC panels for Bo's cage. But Clover can get out of almost anything. We also don't have much more room in the Buns' room for a NIC cage.

We might try our local Humain Society.

Thanks :)
