Title: Lionhead Nationals
mambo101 - May 28, 2007 01:49 AM (GMT)
I was at the Lionhead Nationals in Columbus, Ohio May 4-5th. My lionhead José took 9th place out of 29 rabbits in the Sr. tort bucks class. Not bad!

Congrats!

Congrats! :D
I too was at the Ohio State Mini-Convention but was on the 'other' side of the room. I spent majority of the day writing for the Netherland Dwarfs which intentionall were supposed to be right there by the Loinheads. But the wrong cage sizes were put up and due to the lack of volunteers they just moved the ND's to another part of the building. So I would have been even closer to being able to meet ya but if I recall right, I may have been writing for the judge that you got the adorable Lionhead from.
Just a note for those reading, The Ohio State Mini-Convention is supposably the next thing to ARBA Mini-Convention but I can't varify as I've never been to any other state's convention. At the Ohio Mini-Convention, many shows hold their national breed shows and state shows on the Saturday of the show. Also the OSRBA (club that holds the show) gives a few breeds a speciality show or two on Saturday with Sunday being an all breed show. Lionhead Nationals are one of the many breeds that hold their national show in Columbus. :)
If my connection serves me correct, there were approximently 12,000 entries on Sunday. :)

Yes I am just showing my lionhead José. Not sure how many times I will though. It's very frustrating to have to wait until the end of all the shows to get judged, since lionheads are not yet a recognized breed.

Nice picture of Jose. Was this taken at the show? How long have you had your Nikon?
It's funny how you go to shows and you meet people there and you realize they are on the same forum as you.

Actually, I don't believe there is any 'rule' that states the unrecognized breeds have to be shown last. But the clubs do it more out of respect for the recognized breeds. I too have a breed that normally doesn't hit the table to late in the show, you just have to find ways to keep yourself preoccupied. I do so by writing for the judges and actually, that's were the 'true' fun is during the show. You are closer to the animals being judged and under the right judges you can have a BLAST! :D

Yes, the photo was taken at the show. It is what they call a "cooped show" so all rabbits must be housed in these coops provided by the show people. I was worried how José would react to spending the night in cage that he wasn't used to, but he did ok. He seemed to enjoy his neighbors in the coops next to him. I wish I could take more photos of him at home, but he just moves too fast, I can never get him to stand still. I've had the Nikon for a little over a year. I'm still trying to figure out all the features it has.

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikoncp8400/Yeah it does get long when you have to wait to show your bunny. But I'm too busy taking pictures. :P
I do wear myself out by the end of the show.
