Title: Major Ohio Election Issues

So Ohio had some big money issues on their ballot today.

Minimum Wage increase- $5.15 to $6.85--- I understand the economy is rising and things are costing more money. I also understand from working in a small business that this is going to effect every little business out there! Prices are going to rise in the smal businesses as they have to increase to pay for the $1.70 increase. It might not seem much but it is as who knows if my place of employement will be able to open after Jan '07 as this issue is currently passing and predicted to pass. I'm sure my job may be safe if the boss lets others go as I have senority and can do everything there. But still.......

Smoking Issues- There was an amendment to the Ohio Constitution basically stating that public places can't tell someone they can't smoke. Then the next issue is called SmokeFree Ohio which means smoking is prohibited in all public places--restaurants, bars, places of employement but people may smoke outside the facility. This looks as if the one will fail and the other will pass..making Ohio SmokeFree. That has it's benefits and downfalls as well.....

Legalizing Slot Machines- basically what is says.... slot machines will be allowed in privately owned casinos. Again.. benefits and downfalls.....

I guess this is just the first time I've really voted in an election that will effect thousands of people's lives. So there's mixed feelings on all the issues. :???:
