Title: Recruitment Agencies

Delphinum - August 11, 2006 12:35 PM (GMT)
So I've applied for a job with one of the local libraries (I'm a stickler for procedures/filing at work and love books so what better position whilst I'm studying). I'm also signed up with an agency who get me jobs doing finance and admin roles to keep my finance experience ticking over as a back up incase I severely muck up my degree. Unlikely, but it's not going to hurt to keep my fingers in several pies... so to speak. ;) :)
Whilst I was doing my application form, I couldn't remember what the start/finishing dates of my last position with the agency were, so I rang them and asked. They were all suspicious asking why I was updating my CV  so I told them I've applied for a job with the library and wanted to have my CV correct.
Now I haven't heard from them about any positions for about 2 months and I was all ready to spend the next few weeks painting, studying and doing housework and hoping to get the library job.
Today they've rang me and suddenly this new purchase ledger position has come up and it's the wages and hours I want. I've said yes, but at the back of my mind I'm thinking "they're just wanting me not to go elsewhere so they get their commision". <_<
They also want me to start on Monday and I've an essay due on Friday, so I'm not sure I want to... Uni is more important than work at the moment.
Raaaargh! <_< Agencies are always really awful anyway!

See I told you they were awful! They now phone me saying that they have a full time position for a month, would I be interested?
Hmmm... but didn't the other guy in the office just ask me to start a part time one on Monday? "Oh, erm, yes," she says. "But that's already gone to someone else." Excuse me?! So why phone me and tell me to be there on Monday. Thank goodness she phoned about the full time one or I'd have been there on Monday.

Honestly, it's getting beyond a joke! I went for an interview the other week and the guy interviewing didn't even turn up!! Then I waited 40 minutes and the receptionist said "He's going to be another half an hour, so don't worry!" This was the same day we had an appointment with the bank half an hour later and then had an 8 hour drive up to my dad's! So no I wasn't worried because I was leaving for my bank appointment! I'd spent 3 hours getting ready and going to the interview... 3 hours that I could've packed the car, done some studying and walked the dogs in instead...

you scared me!

I saw the title and i though. "WHAT?! ANG OR DAN JOINED THE MILITARY?!" lmao

that stinks though about those people. how rude!

Delphinum - August 12, 2006 10:09 PM (GMT)
 Now that would be funny! And highly unlikely, Dan's too old at 31 and they won't take me because I have diabetes! ;)
I'm thinking about sacking the agency and going to another one.

Cinnabun - August 12, 2006 10:26 PM (GMT)
LOL. its good to knwo though that neither of you are joining! I wanted to, but then i relized that i'd probably pass out or die during boot camp, LOL. i can't handle that much work for my mile run in 10th grade i nearly passed out. things got so dizzy, and i blacked out.

I would switch if i were you also.
