Title: GASOLINE/PETROL
Description: tell us about it!
Bo B Bunny - March 31, 2005 05:39 PM (GMT)
Well, I don't know how it is over in Australia and the UK or other countries, but here in the States it has been horribly pricey to fill the tank on our automobiles.
We were used to about $1.30 per gallon of gas about 2 years ago. Then it hovered around $1.80 per gallon after a big $2.00 stint. We seemed to feel ok and lucky at $1.80 which I had predicted.
Now, suddenly, we are paying $2.28 per gallon of unleaded regular in Indiana.
What's it like where you are? It's very annoying to me to shell out $35 to fill my mini-van!
Dwarf_Angel04 - March 31, 2005 06:05 PM (GMT)
The gas prices have been outragious.
Yesterday I looked at every gas station I went pass on my home from college.
On my way home from college, which is a bigger city the gas for unleaded was $2.14. As I got closer to home the price went down to $2.10, $2.05. Then I came across a new Wal-Mart's who's gasoline was $1.96! I called my mom imediately with joy of seeing such a 'low' price. But then I started getting closer to my house and noticed again the price was $2.13.
When I first started college I was spending $35 a week to fill up my car with unleaded. I was attending college 4 times a week with about 30 some miles one way. This term I decided to go down to 2 days a week because of the gas price. I was also going ahead of schedule with my classes.
I know I'm young, but the lowest price I've ever seen for gas was $.83 a gallon. There were two gas stations in my area there were at 'war' with each other. This was the normal price of gas was about $1.40.
Delphinum - March 31, 2005 06:18 PM (GMT)
Sorry I'm just falling over laughing! You lot are so lucky! :D
Being in the UK, we pay about £35 for a tank of petrol for my car! That's about double what you pay! £35 = $66 My tank is around 42 litres... I dunno how much that is in US gallons...
And I used to live next to the BP Oil Refinary!! It was more expensive to buy from the BP garage 100 yards from the BP than to go 10 miles away to a Jet garage.
My granddad joined the protests when the petrol strikes were on a few years ago, he has nothing better to do now he's retired! LOL
But I was well annoyed because I couldn't get to see my bf of the time because there was no petrol... darn Labour government for you! The amount of tax we pay on petrol is phenomenal compared to elsewhere.
Bo B Bunny - March 31, 2005 06:27 PM (GMT)
My tank is about 16 gallons. I don't know what that is in liters LOL!
Amanda, we had those prices last week. They went back up and have stayed there all week now. It's getting me really mad!
Delphinum - March 31, 2005 06:31 PM (GMT)
I worked it out that mine would cost 75.60 if I bought it at 1.80... I think... I ain't a maths person! LOL I'm doing literature for a reason y'know! :D
Lanna - March 31, 2005 06:43 PM (GMT)
Here right now...Gas prices are running 2.02 a gallon. It only takes 20$ to fill my car up though...very small car. Hubby and I have been looking for a minivan but I might have to rethink that with gas prices.
When we first got this car we have now it was only costing us 8$ to fill it up. I miss the good ole days!

Ok I just thought I'd make you Americans feel better about what you're paying  . Here in the UK petrol is around 83p a litre which works out at $7.05 a gallon  .
If you think that makes me choke every time I have to fill up you're right! Even being as economical with travel as I can I do at least a hundred and fifty miles a week getting my daughter around and it's often more :( .
I'm working on the idea of instant teleportation :P

Bo B Bunny - April 1, 2005 02:15 PM (GMT)
OMG!!!!!!!!!
I drive at a minimum 300 miles per week usually. That's driving the kids, and running errands mostly!
I'd be gasoline poor!
Now I know why they say people walk more over in Germany and stuff!
......... don't you have some babies I need to see??? <_<
Kate - April 1, 2005 02:26 PM (GMT)
Just posted them on pictures :D
Most weeks my miles are hitting around 300 too, 150 is when I've cut it to bare minimum :( and believe me I feel gasoline poor! That's why I'm working on the teleporting idea

Bo B Bunny - April 1, 2005 02:34 PM (GMT)
Wouldn't that be the best?! Beam me over, Bo! LOL!
Yep, I left here and saw those piccy's and I was so happy! I can't wait to show Lexi those darlings! I know she's gonna want a Tarragon, and everyone else as well.... <_< ;)
MyBabyBunnies - April 1, 2005 02:43 PM (GMT)
To be honest, that's cheap! Here if you were to calculate the cost per gallon (we buy per liter) it would cost us over $4.00 CAD/$3.31 USD per gallon!
This is a real rip off since I live right in the province our gas comes from!
Dwarf_Angel04 - April 1, 2005 03:04 PM (GMT)
What really stinks is that I live in the 'country'ish LOL! I have to drive 15 miles plus to get to the nearest "store" besides food. I haven't been to the nearest "town" since gas rose as I spend enough gas on going to school.
I'm a homebody anyways. :P
Kate - April 1, 2005 03:19 PM (GMT)
That's what I was telling them Laura :P
We use litres too, and I'm pretty sure they changed over so that people didn't notice how much we were paying for a gallon any more  .
In the UK we're paying nearly four times the price of the US and twice the price of Canada - almost all of that is straight to the government, not to the oil/petrol companies.
I live in a really rural area too and unless I'm prepared to spend a couple of days walking up and down hills to the local shops etc cars are the only option round here. I enjoy walking but it'd take a day to get anywhere 'local' and a day back LOL.
I do get a bit heated about it occasionally <_<

MyBunnyLovesMe - April 1, 2005 03:46 PM (GMT)
It's about 85 cents a litre here right now.... :(
I remember when it used to be only like 49 cents a litre.....STUPID GAS! lol I pretty much walk everywhere :P
Cinnabun - April 1, 2005 11:15 PM (GMT)
i dunno how much it is here.. but it only hit 2.00 once... but right now i think its 1.80 for the regular.. my brother gets premium because i guess the reg kind messes up something in his pimped out car! LOL

It's getting close to 90 cents a liter here. Glad I don't drive!
And I remember when it was 39 cents a liter during the gas price wars a few years back!
slrabbits - April 2, 2005 12:37 AM (GMT)
Well, this morning in Arkansas it was $2.08. Here is Michigan it's $2.28.
Dwarf_Angel04 - August 11, 2005 05:13 PM (GMT)
So whats the gas prices at now?
We are paying $2.39 about 3 miles up the road but thats only till the tanker comes to fill them up again. Gas everywhere else around here is up to $2.55 a gallon. The gas station person said we will most likely be up to $3.00 come September.
Nienna - August 11, 2005 05:43 PM (GMT)
This morning, the Shell station by my house was at $2.73 per gallon for the cheap stuff.
Luckily I drive a relatively fuel-efficient car, and even commuting 35 miles each way to school/work, I only have to fill it up once a week. But blech - it's painful to do it!
I feel bad for those of you in the UK...
MyBabyBunnies - August 11, 2005 05:46 PM (GMT)
Gas has gone over $1.00 per litre!
Lanna - August 11, 2005 06:49 PM (GMT)
I feel lucky cause it's only 2.39 a gallon here right now.
slrabbits - August 11, 2005 08:10 PM (GMT)
Gas prices here jumped almost 30 cents in one day. <_<
I am glad I had a full tank when it did, because last time I went out gas was $2.39, and they said it would hit $3.00 by next week. That's just lovely, because I go back to school next week, and the schools a good 25min from my house. That's more than I want to pay. :(
floppy - August 11, 2005 08:13 PM (GMT)
i paid 2.83 the other day.. Unfortunatly my car is a turbo and i have to use the super stuff.....
Pathetic!!
Dwarf_Angel04 - August 11, 2005 08:16 PM (GMT)
I'm glad I don't have to deal with driving to school this next quarter! I couldn't afford the gas with a truck driving 60 miles round trip to college. <_<
Emily - August 11, 2005 09:15 PM (GMT)
$2.44 at Cumberland Farms today (usually the cheapest around). <_<
slrabbits - August 13, 2005 05:06 PM (GMT)
Good god.. gas went up 12 cents today. I can't afford this stuff! *cries*
Lanna - August 13, 2005 05:13 PM (GMT)
Ours is holding 2.39. I know I'll be sitting at home a lot more if it continues to rise. <_<
Dwarf_Angel04 - August 13, 2005 07:00 PM (GMT)
We keep rising! Its now about 2.59 here in my area. However, if you go to the city (45 min drive) its $3.15!!!
Pet_Bunny - August 13, 2005 07:54 PM (GMT)
When the price of oil goes up, the increase will show up in gas 6 weeks later. So gas prices haven't reached the oil record highes yet. There will be no relief on prices until the demand for oil levels out in September/October.
Lanna - August 13, 2005 09:24 PM (GMT)
That explains a lot. On the news it was saying the oil prices have went up 10$ a barrel.
Dwarf_Angel04 - August 17, 2005 08:52 PM (GMT)
Gas prices around here have reached up to $2.69. With fair starting Friday, I surely won't be traveling 12 miles to come home for 7 hours! LOL! There's some nice showers if you get up before the floors get soaked! :D
Nienna - August 17, 2005 08:56 PM (GMT)
I saw on the news that gas was $3.39/gallon in some parts of California...
floppy - August 18, 2005 08:25 PM (GMT)
thank god i dont live in Cali.....
i did pay 2.93 yesterday though.. im amazed im still standing...
its time to get that mountain bike ive been wanting...
this is just rediculous!
April - August 18, 2005 08:28 PM (GMT)
I paid $2.56 yesterday! Last week it was (lol-only) $2.29 and I was complaining!
Emily - August 20, 2005 10:50 AM (GMT)
$2.60 at Cumby's today <_<
MyBabyBunnies - August 20, 2005 04:29 PM (GMT)
Ok I live right in Oil Country -- Alberta. Yet If you do all the math, we are currently paying $3.21 AMERICAN per gallon! ($3.89 Canadian per gallon)
Debbie_blueyes - August 20, 2005 04:35 PM (GMT)
Right now I'm spending a extra $15 dollars canadian a week to get to work and back
Delphinum - August 21, 2005 05:12 PM (GMT)
It's dearer to buy petrol from the BP garage right next to the refinary, than to travel hundreds of miles down here and buy it! Utter madness!
Dwarf_Angel04 - August 31, 2005 02:37 AM (GMT)
I just looked at the gas price when I came home from work and gas is $2.97!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Darn you Katrina!
It was $2.55 at 1 pm!!
Holy pants!
floppy - August 31, 2005 03:44 AM (GMT)
HAHAHAHA Holy pants.. LOL
still 2.97 by me.. But with the storm now they are saying its gonna go higher... I just cant anymore.. Im gonna have to start walking. <_<
