Title: Taylor
Description: My story... first show

bunnylover52691 - May 6, 2006 11:06 PM (GMT)
I woke up at 5:30 AM after being awake between 2 AM- 3:30 AM because of the rain. THen my stomach hurt because of being nervous and I really couldn't go back to sleep. Then I got up at 5:30 and used my med spray. Then put my hair up and came down stairs. I put my jeans on and a blue tee shirt. I went into the kitchen and looked for something to eat. It was much to early for me and I was very disoriented. I finally decided on soup but when I went to look for a bowl, I looked in the fridge. Then looked for a spoon underneath the sink. And found a cup in the bowl area. Finally I got it all put together and at maybe half the can of soup. THen I went and got my rabbit, LEO, out and got some zip lock sandwich bags and placed food and hay in them. I was finally ready to go to the show.

We left and then rememberd we didn't have directions so came back. Then I found the directions and we left again. We drove through the whole city of Taylor and could not find the show area (the directions SUCKED!) Finally we called the secretary who wasen't home and her daughter gave us directions intill we got there. I jumped out and found BUNNYRABBITS.COM where I bought the carrier and moved Leo into it. I started to walk around and found some Red Mini Rex. A lady noticed me and asked if I was bunnylover78642. Apparently she had heard i was going to the Taylor show. Her rabbitry is MMI Rabbits or Mother May I? Rabbitry. I asked her if she wold tatoo my rabbit when she got her tatooer out and started to tatoo hers. She said of course she would. It looks really great and says LEO in big bright letters.

THen I realized I forgot to give Leo any water or food in the new carrier and had to go buy a feed bowl and water bottle. I started to walk around and look at everybody elses rabbits. There was more and more and they just kept coming but there weren't many MRs. There was baby NDs, baby JWs, and baby HLs for sale all over the place. I found a MR baby for sale that I wanted but decided against getting her because she was an unshowable light colored castor with castor and REW in her background. There was also a HL doe that I wanted but my mom wouldn't let me get. She was a beautiful showable tort and I thought that mabye I could breed Luke with her. But my mom said NO so I couldn't get her. There was a JW baby tort for sale also and I found out that I just LOVE baby JW fur! Its SO soft.

Then the show started. First it was SR. JR. Does and Bucks.- Black and Blue. My friends blacks and blues were both put first and second and got of course BOV and BOSV for both blacks and blues. THen there was the chocalotes, otters *any recognized color*, & opal next. MMI Rabbitry didn't have any so I just watched them show and see what the judge said. Then it was castor. MMI had one jr named Wild Thing and he almost got BOSV and then the judge changed her mind. It was Carol Hookes by the way. The then Reds came out- ok you know what these are in the wrong order but you get it- and I was so excited about Leo.

The judge took Leo out of the judging coop and loved him. She placed him back and took out 2 rabbits and gave them 4th and 3rd. The only reds *bucks* left were Victor from MMI and Leo for RVR. She took them out and decided that Victor was better so he got 2nd of Variety. I was SO happy. She said he had a good head, good ears, and GREAT type.

THen I went back to BUNNYRABBITS.COM and bought a blanket, a coin purse, and some rabbit treats. I walked around some more and then realized that I was really hungry. I went and bought a Cheeseburger, chips, and a coke. I met the people from Little Kountry Bunnies and Kountry Bunnies. I also met the Proctor-Smiths. They were all really nice and said they didn't have any reds for sale but they would let us know if they did. LKB had some reds but didn't bring them. She said she would bring some to convention to sell and maybe we could meet up somewhere and get some to. PERFECT!!

I was also told, "buy from Janis Fostai, but don't talk to her", apparently she is really mean and "loud mouthed and spirited" and if a rabbit growls or bites her she will kill it. People have actually seen her do that... Thats horrible :(.

Then the B show started. They started just the same way and it was almost the same results. When the reds got up he really loved Leo. He said that he was gorgeous and had a way better type than the rest. I was so happy. He didn't get BOV though because his coat wasn't coming in. He said to change to a great show feed and I would have the perfect rabbit. I was SO happy and can't wait to change and see how he does next time.

So in the end, I didn't win anything, I didn't buy any rabbits, and I was SOOOO happy. I got some great comments, I met some wonderful people, and bought a nice carrier and other equipment I needed.

My list of things I bought...
A rabbit blanket
a 1 hole carrier
a water bottle
a carrier feeder
A ID tag and strap
and food

I guess thats it!!
